well as announced, i'm a little surprised that no DMB songs are going to be covered. when i thought about what these concerts had in store i thought there would be a lot of some devil stuff, some odd ball covers and some DMB songs played by Dave and Tim (maybe while some of the other "friends" took a bit of a break). i'm still going to go to the show, but i would have liked to hear some DMB stuff at the show as well. little upset about that.

10-17-2003, 11:34 PM
you will hear dmb, just not dm"b" i wouldn't want to hear that anyways

i don't quite understand what you're saying? you saying we'll here some DMB songs, just without the whole band??? I thought that's what he said he wasn't going to do? are you talking D&T style DMB songs???
unccrombie
10-17-2003, 11:59 PM
yeah i am talking about d&t, its still dmb music either way. would you really want to hear that band play dmb songs? i'll pass and stick to the local cover bands
brockboi
10-18-2003, 12:02 AM
i WOULD NOT want to see Dave and Friends play DMB songs as a band. not at all, that just wouldn't be right. i would like to see D&T do some DMB covers, just like on the D&T tour. i don't even know if they are going to do that on this tour according to what DM said in an interview.

Yeah, that's something we've tried to tell the countless folks who've emailed us with WH complaints. We're using my gf's account to get tickets through them, but should it fail, we'll just opt for folks who've got extras, or TM.

Yeah - even if Warehouse confirms me, I'll still be playing the Ticketmaster game Saturday morning.
However, it would take a really good Ticketmaster set for me to buy. It's not a huge arena - keep that in mind before you get too greedy. I think last year I had just about the worst seats Warehouse gave out, and they were fine. Unless I can pull something in the first half of the floor or immediate side-stage sections from Ticketmaster, I'll leave them. No matter what Warehouse gives, they won't be too bad.

Best thing about that place...there are always chicks dancing on the bar. The other week there was a chick with this little skirt on, and a thong  :D

Tiki Bobs is only 18+ on Thursdays. If your friends are chicks, you might be able to get them in with a fake. If they're dudes, forget about it.

Tonic & Karma will turn away people based on what they are wearing too. The bouncer at Tonic wasn't going to let me in one night over the summer b/c I had sandals on, had jeans on but he apparently had a problem w/ it - of course he still let me in. They've done that a few times to people I know "you really should wear blah, but I'll let you in this time."
They do have people spinning sometimes on weekends though so its kinda cool for that. Otherwise the place kinda sucks. Lots of tools frequent that bar thinking they're like cool New Yorkers in an NYC bar. If you want an upscale bar, I'd recommend Pearl, much much nicer, or Lola Bistro on Monroe.

confirmed for this year, sat in 214 last year, awesome awesome awesome. i was worried about the distance, but it was right in the middle, and it's not like sitting on the lawn or somewhere with 5,000 other people obstructing your view.
im glad i don't have to go through tm though, because it's always a mad dash at 10:00am and it's stressful just looking at the statusbar while it moves 1% every 5 minutes.

It's about a 2 minute walk from Blue Cross Arena, the food is INCREDIBLE and the beer very cold so i've heard! I think most people are planning on arriving early because that place gets packed. I was thinking about trying to be there around 200-300 just to eat, drink & talk with some other people. anyone else up for that? these are just my plans so far.
these are my plans...it would be great if some people could join us.

I was thinking that we all (ants / boards people) should wear something - so that we know who each other are - I was thinking MARDI GRAS beads ... who else is interested ... that way we will b able to say - so u post, and not have people like "HUH"

Dude - it's not that big of an arena! For the effort and money you are going to spend, why not go to another show instead of trying to get a few rows closer for Rochester?
No offense! I've played the same game before, but getting WH, TM and Instants is a bit excessive. Let someone else have tickets.

The Dinosaur has a ton of room in the bar area and also has a decent dining area.
But remember, it's one of the closest joints to BCA, so it's going to be mobbed more than usual.
I am thinking about getting there pretty early and fueling up before the beer doth flow.

Well, there's going to be a few of us who meet up at the bars by Alexander/East first, have a couple, and then hit up the Dino so in case it's too packed, we at least got some elbow room and drinking in previous to the show.
I was thinking something like Monty's Korner for pre-Dino, then Dino for pre-show. It'd be easier to meet up with everyone beforehand.

Rest assured that I am not wearing beads.
However, I should be around the majority of the weekend -- enough so you can meet me well before the show, you can meet a bunch of the folks off nancies, and so on. There'll probably be stuff going on that Friday night; we'll have contact information and whatnot available in December and then we can all figure out how to meet up.

It certainly wasn't that way last year (letting people in early)..and it was f'king cold outside...I can't even remember the show time last year...but it seems to me they waited as long as possible to open the doors...maybe an hour or hour and a half before the show...

Show time was 7 last year (well, for the opener) and doors opened at 6.
I wandered around outside the arena all afternoon (I was bored -- I checked into the Crowne Plaza mid afternoon and had nothing to do). Nothing too interesting going down. There was some kind of radio promotion that had a lot of people standing by the main doors with signs. There were a few people hanging around the back by the busses and production vehicles, but I didn't see a single crew member walk in or out, let alone band member.
Definitely no hope of just wandering in for a soundcheck. I cannot imagine that happening anywhere.

I was in both of those areas...I saw Boyd in between the buses...and then listened to the frenzy for the radio station contest (after walking to the front door)...

I heard the soundcheck...or part of it from West Point...
it was....Dave, Tim, my friend, myself and two security people...
My friend and I were standing in the door of the highest balcony....once the security saw us...we bounced...they were playing gravedigger although last I checked DMBalmanac said they didn't SC that...

i've heard two soundchecks as well. darien lake's and toronto's (both this year) and it's pretty interesting, but not something i'd wanna wait hours for. seen it a couple times now and that's all i need. outdoor concerts are the easiest for hearing soundcheck's i don't know how you would at an indoor show since the doors aren't really opened until about an hour before showtime.

Oh... okay! Well of course! They're outdoor venues. You are standing on the other side of a fence so it's easy to HEAR the soundcheck. As well, a lot "here's what got soundchecked today!" threads come from IEM sources.
You made it sound like it's common for venues to just open their doors and invite people inside to watch the band play :)

i was right outside the main doors to get in and heard the soundcheck from #41 on. DMBalmanac is wrong on a few parts of that, for instance, d+t soundchecked the begining of Warehouse and they dont have it up there.
edit: atleast they didn't for a while, i dont know if they do or not now.

beads - u know like mardi gras ones ... or plastic lai's (how ever u spell them) so we can identify each other.
we used that at college parties all the time, then when we went out to the bars after - were able to be like, they were there, they were'nt
beads / necklaces = very cool in my book!

how about this idea:
is there any one section that we can meet while in the arena? we'll just congregate there. it cant be the floor because they check to make sure youve got floor tickets before they let you in there.

Some cracked-out ho's from The Zone (or whoever sponsored that) were handing them out at the A St. Fest too.

no kidding...
Christmas is a hassle anymore...and that is so bad to say...because it should be the time to spend with family and holiday spirit...blah blah...it has turned into people running around
completing last minute shopping...driving here for dinner then making it across town for the inlaws...or the other parent...grandparents...etc...kids screaming because they didn't get the PS2 or xbox game they wanted...wives pissed off at husbands because of the gift they rec'd...
Can't we just have a nice dinner with some wine and relax...
PS...can't wait for Rochester...
