torrent?

im just wondering what this thing people talk about is. ive heard it called torrent and bitorrent. could someone clue me in on what exactly this is? thanks

it's a way to spread files. one person hosts it/sets up a tracker, other connect to the tracker an start to dl it, than others dl it from the people downloading it already etc, etc. it's p2p.
