What happens when the mkwact tells me that the file it is compressing into wav isn't there and other things like that. I got my first shn last week and somehow, someway I was able to convert one show into wav but Roxio freezes when I try to burn DAO. And ever since, whenever I try compressing shn to wav, the files disappear and I can't find them. Can someone PLEASE help me with this? I am a newbie at this and I just want to figure it out so I can start sharing the music. Thanks so much.

Go to "file options" and you can set your output directory to anywhere you want.
Also uncheck the box that is next to "delete input files"
Don't burn with Roxio. It is crap.

What program should I use to burn? I heard that Nero has a free download available? Is this true?

It's not the most legal, but you can always download Nero off Kaaza and get the crack for it.

I use Nero or EAC for audio burning. EAC is the most exact and reliable, but Nero is a bit more flexible.

So far so good, except when i start to burn on EAC, it tells me that there is an error. Something like "long write error." Does anyone know how to fix this? If so, I should be able to complete this task. Thanks!

Might mean your burner isn't supported by EAC for burning (happns to some people). Just use Nero instead.

I have a plugin for nero. Now it burns shn's. It's the best way to go . . maintain smallness and quality :)

Nero plugin works great for SHNs, but a little slow!
The FLAC plugin is nice too, much faster! But of course a lot less shows are in FLAC format.

this is where i say its a damn shame, too. even Phish officialy adopted FLAC (sweet!), and Primus will as well. I use flac only when encoding my Tim Reynolds seeds, and I think its just the stuborness of the DMB tapers that prevent them from releasing Flac seeds as well.

So I downloaded Nero to burn the cd's and it STILL doesn't work. It gets to 5% written, and then nothing. This is really starting to piss me off. I don't understand why it won't work. It seems to work for TAO but not DAO.

Okay, for some reason, on Nero, Roxio and EAC, I can only copy the first song on DAO and then it just stops. Does anyone know why this is happening? I am becoming extremely frustrated. I just lost two softball games tonight and I struck out looking twice. I am not in the best mood and I want this to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

lower your burning speed, or just buy a better burner.

i agree.
if i recall correctly, there were a couple shows from this past tour that were released in flac format. i don't remember which ones, though. maybe someone's finally getting the idea?

i think scott brown released a 24bit flac set for 3/28/03, yet the 16 bit set was SHN.

Well I use Fuji so I don't think that is the problem.
