Extra big thing to happen- the company is trying to cover up their national security breach of protocol.

And I'm really surprised no one mentioned this: the terrorist went to set of all of those nuclear reactors. Their original goal was easily over 30 nuclear meltdowns spread throughout the country (giving Air Force one nowhere to land). Unfortunately it was reduced to one, but they still achieved their objective: they kept AF1 in the air. Maruan met with his buddy and asked about the air force section of the plan being in place - they're going to try and find and bring down AF1.

And I'm still straddling the fence on whether or not Audrey is dirty.

Oh and, Michelle is hot.

We've known Michelle was coming back for over a month now. Marwan's escape was obvious. They're still searching, and will catch him (no spoiler...just obvious). I'm thinking that blowing up AF1 is a real possiblity (plot spoiler) we know Palmer comes back...but what would his role be?....although blowing up AF1 doesn't accomplish much...the VP is still around.

As for Audrey...she's clean. *I hope*. I don't think Jack deserves another shot to the balls like S1.

This is an excellent theory and probably the right one. Although I'm glad you said it I'm a little dissapointed that we now probably know how the rest of the season will play out. A "New York City" block is 1/20th of a mile.

(8 * 5280) / 20 = 2112 feet.

Not enough to bring down alot of planes,
especially cuz LAX is way far away from downtown.

I'm not sure how long an LA block is, but if it was 8 Boston blocks,

And I agree, I think they will keep the president in the air until the crisis is completely over. We don't know where the president is or where he might try to land now that the nuclear threat is over. However, the President is probably now going to get an escort to wherever he decides to try and land- this will be the outlet the terrorists will use.

I was so positive Dessler was coming back but when Tony was appointed I second guessed myself. It was within the first few episodes that it was mentioned that Michelle was working as assistant director of district so it seemed inevitable, but I was glad in the end she came quickly. She looked mean too didn't she? Just like after she shot that fool trying to leave the hotel in S3. Don't fuck with Michelle.
I think Curits called District to act as a catalyst for getting Tony's replacement in as soon as possible.

I expected Paul to get shot earlier in the episode. Nicely erasing any competition for Audrey's feelings AND sending her to Jack's open arms.

no. the intended target would have been the current president of the united states, no matter who it was.

even if mickey mouse was the president, he'd be aboard af1 (or in a secure location, but maybe not given the nuclear plants locations to where the secure locations could be).

its a thread for 24 discussion, and part of the excitement involved with the show if joining together to discuss our own theories and possibilties of what may happen. thats the whole reason behind why were drawn into the show.

so i mentioned palmer is returning. i dont know if thats true. no one knows if thats true. i dont know how we will return. or why he will return. and its great to surround myself with people are are as into the show as i am to jog each others minds for predicitions.

if i wanted to have a conversation about 24 solely based on what has happened already on the show, then id sit on my couch and have a yap with my tivo.

The way you present your information is everything. If you honestly have done no extra reading and really have no idea about what is going to happen, it's all speculation.

If you have read something that tipped you off as to who is coming back, you should probably just try to refrain from commenting on issues that deal with that character.

I'm too lazy to back read, but people have posted that they read or saw where certain characters from past seasons would be coming back.

I just think that if you've read something you should keep it to yourself. If you have intentionally kept yourself in the dark (like many here have), then speculate until your balls fall off. :)

I could see it happening. Fox is not afraid to shock the fans. However, I think the show would suffer severely and eventually stop if they were to kill off Jack.

It's funny because the show hinges on reality and believability; the realism of the show is one of its strongest qualities.
- On one hand you want to preserve realism: it's entirely possible that Jack could die. He is not super human.
- On the other hand, the fans love Jack and the show may go down if they kill him off.

It's a paradox.

Maybe they'll write in his retirement and gauge how the show does without him. If it flops, write in his return.

True, however, technically every head of CTU that has died did so while in that position (IIRC). So that leaves Michelle but not Tony.

Am i the only one who thought that the whole Officer/Sgt salute was a little wierd? First of all the salute didnt' look proper and second they did it indoors. I don't think you are required to slaute an Officer if you are indoors, how would anything get accomplished if you were saluting every Officer you saw in the office. That whole scene has been bothering me all day. Anyone have any thoughts?

I was actually thinking the same thing. I think there is good potential that they will off Michelle. At one point during last night's episode, Michelle gave Tony a look that could only be described as an "I still love you look." They could be setting it up so that the romance is rekindled and then shock everyone with Michelle's death. There seems to be a recurring theme throughout the show: love is pain and suffering. What could be worse for Tony then going through the hell he went through because he saved Michelle's life, only to have her die in the end anyways.
