Probably because they've been week after week without month long gaps inbetween episodes. Its hard to remember the beginning of the season because it has nothing to do with what's going on now.

it's going to be hard next season if they don't have a non-stop season. i'm so spoiled now that i don't know how i'm going to be able to go weeks without a fix.

The terrorists picked out some nice Jeeps. What are the odds of finding two identical YJs from 1995?

I'm wondering why they didnt disable their jeeps, it would make it a hell of a lot easier if they ended up with the football, considering they arent gonna get too far before backup copters arrive

I'm just frustrated with the factual inequities of the show tonight.
Like they wouldn't completely cancel the codes whenever AF1 was lost, or that they wouldn't have an entire DOD department working on canceling launch codes for the various warheads. At most, that would take 10-15 minutes. Which pretty much renders the terrorists little plan worthless.
And don't even get me started on the douches that were like, I know Jack told me to do this, but I think I'll go try and bargain with a terrorist scumbag. Because that works. Dumbasses.

Read the recap of last week's episode
http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/story.cgi?show=73&story=7765&limit=&sort=
And then you'll see how hard it is to take 24 seriously again.
It takes a little while to get the hang of the nicknames, so here's a cheat sheet:
Kiefer: Jack
ImhoTerror: Marwan (he was the Mummy, Imhotep, remember?)
TerrorTeen: Behrooz
Bitchelle: guess...
Poor Man's Eric Stoltz: Anderson
Soul Patch: Tony (great homage to S1 there)
DaD: Heller (Department of Defense, a dad, get it?)
DoDer: Audrey (daughter of Heller)
Grayadder: Paul (British reference)
Potato Face: Chloe (cruel, but hysterical)
NotMandy: Lady who got plugged last week
Lispy Skip: Edgar (ode to his character on The Sopranos)
Read and have some fun!

Actually, about Behrooz, he's only been missing for two hours. If you're CTU, do you you spend your time looking for some boy who has nothing more to contribute, or do you focus your efforts on finding Marwan and the Football?
Also, we now have the plot for season 5: am.org posters conspire to kill Jack Bauer for the murder of a jeep.

Bald guy answer:
The bald guy is Mike Novic, President Palmer's ex-Chief of Staff. We haven't seen him since Palmer canned him at the end of Season 2 - so it's really weird that they just brought him back without any kind of fanfare or seemingly, reason. But I think we'll see that reason this coming episode. ;)
I will say this: last night's episode was fucking amazing.
All this in the face of the fact that foxnews.com ruined the whole last half of this season with their character reveal on the front page. Assholes.

Why did that stupid lady come out from hiding? These are the nuclear launch codes, you can't give them up. Anyways after he got shot the second time, the guy should have said he hid the football in the desert and she would have been safe, but thats easy for me to say...if i was the one getting shot I would probably be crying for my mommy :lorraine

Well Jack works for a Republican guy (DoD), and Mike is now a Republican advisor, possibly even the Chief of Staff like under Palmer.
He sure is Satan himself, though. Notice how it starts small.... "I already took care of that, Mr. VP" "Without my permission?!?" Heh.
I'm sure Mike will take a few more liberties as things progress.

tdowe99
04-12-2005, 01:07 PM
It's all based on the first episode: Keeler is president because he won the election. When Palmer dropped out of the race, we can assume that his VP stepped in, but of course it was too late and so Keeler won. Keeler is Rep., and so he would choose fellow Reps. to be in his cabinet. Jack doesn't seem too political, so I'm sure he didn't care who he worked for in the DoD.... it's just a job for him.

Voice data recorders (also know as black boxes) can burn in pools of jet fuel for up to 8 hours with out being damaged. Black boxes also have transponders on them, which also survive crashes. So how is it unlikely that Marwan wouldn't be able to find such a case? I'm sure the devices to hold vital information about our nuclear arsenal have, the same, if not more sophisticated, protection then a black box.

I think what he's saying is that it is waaaay more likely that the football would have ended up with the main wreckage therefore making it impossible to steal. Marwon's whole plan was based on it miraculously falling out in the middle of the desert far way from the main crash site. That is just stupid.

It really deosn't seem to terribly unlikely though. Unlike a plane impacting the ground, a missle would cause an expoloision leaving a much, much wider trail of debris. Marwan knew approx where this was going to happen and could have positioned himself there, giving him time before CTU got there.

yes, it is a tv show. but given its reputation, please dont insult the intelligence of its viewers. the past few episodes have been just wildly grosse misconceptions. from the choice of aircraft that shot down af1, to this whole transponder business (not even what i was refering to; but how fast the codes get changed+the fact that ON the president is another code you need), to the vp being sworn in under the 25th amend when the president wasnt even dead, to highly trained jack+ctu doign amazingly idiotic things you learn day1 in training (disable the transportation), .. to using the cut off thumb trick when it was convienient (but not when it wasnt).. i mean the list goes on.
these are all season4 issues. s1-s3 had a LOT less of this bullshit. yes, the show is exciting as always. but the writers are takin too many liberties right now and imagining wild things with less and less apparent research.
by the way:
1) train attack to steal nuclear power plant overide
2) kidnap sec def heller and murder him on the internet
3) use above as smoke screen to melt down 100+ powerplants
4) use above as smoke screen to steal stealth F-117A
5) use above as smoke screen to assinate the president
6) use above as smoke screen to steal football
7) use above as smoke screen to _______ ?
i mean, what the fuck? really.
ps: theyve been dropping too many side storylines too? dont you think there'd be a bit more pandemonium acorss the country right between the nuclear powerrplant threats, the EMP device that went off, etc? and hello..whats happening to that defense contractor that set off the EMP, is that just forgotten?

these are all season4 issues. s1-s3 had a LOT less of this bullshit. yes, the show is exciting as always. but the writers are takin too many liberties right now and imagining wild things with less and less apparent research.
by the way:
1) train attack to steal nuclear power plant overide
2) kidnap sec def heller and murder him on the internet
3) use above as smoke screen to melt down 100+ powerplants
4) use above as smoke screen to assinate the president
5) use above as smoke screen to steal football
6) use above as smoke screen to _______ ?
i mean, what the fuck? really.
ps: theyve been dropping too many side storylines too? dont you think there'd be a bit more pandemonium acorss the country right between the nuclear powerrplant threats, the EMP device that went off, etc? and hello..whats happening to that defense contractor that set off the EMP, is that just forgotten?
cheers.

I agree with most of it but Section 4 of the 25th Amendment is quite clear.

I think what he's saying is that it is waaaay more likely that the football would have ended up with the main wreckage therefore making it impossible to steal. Marwon's whole plan was based on it miraculously falling out in the middle of the desert far way from the main crash site. That is just stupid.
How do we know that was his plan? Perhaps he got lucky with it falling out behind the main wreckage. He had alot of men with him, I bet he was fully prepared to storm the main wreckage to retrieve it.

Yea if the President is incapacitated in anyway and is unable to fulfill the duty of the presidency then the VP steps in. The same thing happened on the West Wing a few seasons ago when president bartlett's daughter was kidnapped and he was of not sound mind to be president at that time. Also in real life Bush was sworn in as president while Reagan was in surgery after his assasination attempt.
So I buy that part of the story...but I do have problems with how all of this whole story arc went down, from the F-117 to finding the football.

They had started driving 20 minutes into the previous episode, so they had been on the road for 50 minutes.
Taking into account how short it seems to take people to get across LA on this show, 50 minutes is probably enough to get them halfway across the country :lol

new to this thread, but i had to laugh at how fast Bauer got the schematics for the power plant while he was in the helicopter.
1. they most likely wouldnt exist for such a small plant that is not used.

see, it just so happens that Marwon made sure that guy drank plenty of water that morning and so he was taking a piss at the very time the missle hit. It was all part of this "genious" plan.

Actually, the "football being chained to guy" is the only part of the plan that isn't plausible. Everything else can be easily explained. You just want the show to explain everything to you, which would mean even more useless dialogue and time wasted that could be used for more useful things.

I'll put this in spoiler tags just in case. It is NOT spoilers, only speculation on where I think this is going.
Think about it. The VP is now in a bunker under DC, and they made a point to mention that they are safe down there from any sort of attack.
The warhead that was stolen was in Iowa, near the middle of the country, and with the way this show handles how fast people get to places, the bomb could be anywhere in the country by the end of the season.
Marwan is going to detonate the warhead in Washington DC.
tdowe99

Why is Marwan sticking around LA? He should be in a van on the way to Vegas or somewhere. Or is he trying to stay low and coordinate the terrorism?

Now, this next post DOES include spoilers that have already been mentioned in this thread, so DO NOT READ unless you already know the spoilers.
Now, we know that Mandy is returning for the last couple of episodes. I don't think they could have Mandy in here, and not have Max involved somehow, after all the anticipation the fans have had for resolution to that storyline.
Keep in mind, there have been LOTS of Season 2 references this season. I'm not going to list them all.
Remember, in S2, Max's plan was to start a war, but Jack stopped him. He'd need to create an attack on a much larger scale to ensure that war would happen.
Perhaps everything that has happened this season has been Max's doing (blowing up a train, kidnapping the SOD, melting down a nuclear plant, almost killing the President, stealing the football, stealing a nuclear warhead, and perhaps even detonating it in DC). He's creating a series of attacks so devestating that Logan, who is weak, will be forced to go to war against the Muslims, and Max will get the war he wanted five years ago.
Of course, this is all speculation. I just really hope this is where the season is heading.

Not only did I do that with 24 but with Alias and other shows that I watched off of dvd. I just always wanted to know what will happen next.

We use those same Cisco phones at work and at least one person just happens to have the CTU ring set as their ringer. It freaks me out everytime their phone rings.

Try this website ken:

They have a link for a midi and then another link for 3 more on another page.

How are you sending these to your phone? Sometimes if you change the extension name of a .wav file to a .mid file and send it to your phone it'll work that way and your phone will play it.

would it be possible for someone to send last weeks show to me through you send it or aim. im on a school network so torrents are useless. i am doing a paper for my communications class on audience gratifications of tv shows and i thought its just natural to use the show that i love most. thanks in advance.
