I may have to go see it. I plan on going to Dyersville this summer to see the Field of Dreams, and it's up in that direction.

Yeah, it's pretty.

While you're out there, go to Galena, IL (where my parents live) and check out the town. It's all victorian and shit and nice. They also filmed parts of Field of Dreams downtown.

The best thing about this episode was that they referenced the previous seasons. So far, this season could almost exist on its own, away from the first three. With Mike's reference to not betraying another President, and Jack talking to Audrey about consequences of not following the book (I forgot the exact line). There's more to the 24 universe than just this season. I think we need to be reminded of that from time to time, to remember just what Jack's given up for his country.

Also the little things, like Palmer having his bracelet, and Jack still having that tattoo, and Tony with his Cubs mug. It's all in there so we 24-freaks can talk about the details.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Plus I'm sure that all CTU agents have to have some weapons training, even if they're not field ops.

As for Palmer's bracelet, there's nothing special about it. I just like the fact that they remembered that he always wears it, and thus included it in his "costume."

Yeah, I know someone mentioned it before but the little things like the Cubs mug or Palmer's bracelot really do alot. This show, unlike any other, gives you such a insight into each character you can't help but feel a sort of connection with them that's unlike that of any other show. I'm not even talking about plot tie-ins to previous seasons, just little things like that, that really make the show and it's characters special.

I really think that CTU agent is gonna screw things up somehow but I don’t think there is enough time left in the day for it to happen now. With only 3 hours left that incident will cause tension between the two nations but I don’t think it will go much more than that. Next year, on the other hand, may deal with that situation a little more. At least that’s what I think.

Yeah...I get the feeling Jack and Audrey's relationship is over! ;)

Tak_a_Tak
05-03-2005, 11:03 AM
My guess would be that they now have someone that can ID him, since they saw his face up close. That, plus the fact that he has a big scrach on the side of his face, it doesn't look good for this guy. They can start looking through photos of CTU agents untill they find a photo for the guy and ID him. It will mean big time trouble for the goverment trying to cover it up. At least Plamer is behind it all, he should be used to trying to cover stuff like this up.

This is the first season I've seen so I guess it's not fair for me to say I don't like the love drama. Jack and Audrey at the surgery room was a very good scene. The corny talks on helicopters, etc. were the parts I don't like along with tony and michelles unnecessary drama.

I would agree about the interaction between Jack and Audrey are at times very corny, but will have to disagree and Tony and Michelle. I would say those are pretty good, only because I now the back story there.

No, I believe that it was Jack whose mask was turned up in the scuffle.

And let me just say that I was not expecting the ending to Season 1. I was watching the second to last episode and when it came to the end of that episode I was like "WHAT?!?!?!" and I just had to watch the last episode before going to bed at 4.

Wasn't Jack. He had old boy on his back and the dude whose mask got turned up wasn't carrying some chinaman.

Hello all. Big 24 fan...that and Survivor are all I watch. Did you hear that the show may be moving to NBC next season? After 4 seasons their contract with FOX is up. Probably won't change mucch. Last weeks episode was the most intense I've seen in awhile. Do you think the Chinese guy is gonna make it? He has to, otherwise we're screwed. And no Marwan last episode. Can't wait.

The Chinese Embassy goes through video footage of the raid and see the agent that got his mask ripped off. They trace him back to CTU. Ah here it is:
Rumor du jour: Fox's '24' may be heading to NBC
Is Fox’s “24” headed for NBC? The New York Post reported this morning that the struggling network is interested in Twentieth Television’s Kiefer Sutherland drama, whose four-year deal is up after May 23’s season finale. The Post story quotes an anonymous source that says NBC has expressed its interest in “24.” This season the show has averaged a shade under 12 million viewers an episode, its best season ever. The odds still remain Fox will keep the series, despite an expected increase in its licensing fee, but if it does make the switch it wouldn’t be the first show to do so: “Grounded For Life” aired on Fox for two seasons before it jumped to the WB in February 2003, and “JAG” aired its first season on NBC before moving to CBS for its final nine seasons.

fifel
05-10-2005, 01:19 AM
Isn't FX owned by Fox or what ever the parent company of Fox is?? Didn't FX have replays of 24 episodes in previous seasons? I can't see Fox letting this go to any other channel. 24 makes them too much money.

However, that being said, NBC could use a hit show since ABC and CBS are kicking its arse in ratings.

How do you let someone steal a stealth, shoot down air force one, and lose nuclear arsenal information? Our government sucks IMO.

I'm expecting either one of four things to happen:

1. They shoot down the missile somehow and save the day - a very hollywood ending. This is most likely the scenario.

2. The bomb hits its target and millions die - but that wouldn't be a good way to keep the show going because then its, "now what"??

3. The missile malfunctions and does not deploy - very boring.

4. The missile misses its target, either because DOD changed the course of the missile or there was a malfunciton in the guidance system.

This show kicks ass by the way. I just wish I didn't have to wait all week to see the next episode.

Here's what I predict will happen:

The warhead is just ANOTHER smokescreen to distract everyone. Edgar is really an insider working for HABIB MARWAN and will kill the President and the entire cabinet with the exception of Secretary HELLER. Who will then become president (due to rules of succession or some such).

He will invoke a secret clause in the CONSTITUTION that no one knows about except JACK BAUER, who will then become the defacto leader of the country now that we are under martial law. He will imprison AUDREY for being a complete, total pussy girl and then have the interegator dude inject her with TRUTH SERUM.

Everybody will get exposed to radiation and die. The end.

3:00 AM
At CTU
The doctor had the heat on to save the other guy. Outside the operating room, Jack went to talk to Audrey. He tells her he is sorry, so sorry but she asks how he could do it, crying. She tells him she can't be near him after hugging him initially. Jack left her in tears.

Outside the operating room, Bill told Jack that he needs to call Mike Novak and about Paul. Bill assured Jack that he did the right thing with the choice and off goes Jack to call Mike. Mike wants to know if Jack has anything and about the person getting shot. Jack tells Mike none of them shot but Jack says that it might have been their own people. Mike tells Jack to get alibis for the people with him and they hang up (Mike is off to talk to Palmer, Jack is heck I dunno)

Chloe finds a problem and reports it to Bill. Someone is trying to jam their satellite she tells him. Chloe snips about something and Bill reprimands her.

3:07 AM
Marwan makes a call to a man about the warhead. The man tells Marwan that he can't do something with the satellite. Marwan says that they will have to move the firing ahead by an hour.

White House
Oops, Mike and Palmer are talking, the President doesn't know anything about the Embassy. Palmer says they need to come up with something not to implicate the U.S. The conversation turn to who the Chinese enemies are. Uhoh.

At the Embassy
Men are watching a video of the kidnap of the man that CTU has. Egats, one of the mens mask was lifted. They try to match that mans face.

3:10AM
The man with the mask is at CTU, Jack tell him and Curtis about the guy getting killed and how they need alibis for that night.

Marwan
He and his people work on the launch. They have it on a rocket. 3:12..tick tick tick.

3:16 AM
Jack needs a huge server, Chloe inserts her foot, by accident when he says that he's not talked to Audrey about the transfer and she says that will be awkward. She also tells him she will be there if he needs a friend. WIth not a lot of bruhaha, Jack asks Audrey for the DOD transfer, she asks if the guy is alive (and he is)

CTU Briefing
Bill has his team and they leave LOL.

Chinese Embassy
UHOH, they found the man that was in the mask, yep, it's a CTU agent and they would like to talk to him so they call Michelle. They tell Michelle that they would like to talk to her, there right now. The man pushes and says that he thinks that CTU was involved. Michelle calls it an outrageous accusation. He says one half hour before the murder, the U.S. government wanted the man that was kidnapped. Michelle blows him off and hangs up. He calls the Secretary of State *uhoh*

At CTU
Jack thanks Audrey and he tells her she should go back to the hotel. Audrey is still pretty mad over Paul tell him that they both have a job and to just do it.

Michelle tells Bill about the man from the Embassy and he tells Jack. Jack says they are bluffing and they don't have time to deal with it right now.

At the White House
Mike and Palmer work on Chinese enemies. Mike says he can start leaking the one group to the media. In comes the new President. Palmer tells him about the operation, the Pres freaks out, marched on the Chinese soil and is PRETTY MAD. Palmer tells him to calm down, says that the US didn't bring this on and that they will settle it. Palmer reminds him that he was brought there to help him and tells him to let him do it. (Dirty work and all) 3:24 tick..tick..tick.

3:28 AM
Tony tells Bill that the man from the embassy is almost ready. Bill goes to Michelle and she tells him the Secretary of State has authorized the Chinese to come talk to them at CTU. Butt cover time.

3:30 AM
Bill leaves Michelle and Tony alone. Awww, they get close talking but then get interrupted.

In comes the Chinese
Curtis and Jack are in there with Bill. The man's attention goes to Jack immediately since he tells Jack that he could have led a co-op in short notice. Uhoh, but then guess what comes out? Yep, the photo but Jack turns it to it's the name they gave to Mike Novak. OH CRAP, but the man that they are looking for is OUTSIDE the room. Jack monkeys with his phone and gets a call to Chloe to get the man in the photo onto a chopper. Will he get out?
Oh the man from the Embassy wants Jack's hourlies.

3:35 AM...The man is awake!
Jack is on his way, Curtis called him, Chloe is ready. The interpreter tells the man that he will be treated yaddayadda and then he tells the man he wants to know where the warhead is at. The man says he doesn't know where the warhead is but he might know where Marwan is. Might? Where? The man says that he is moving around and he has three locations. Jack knows where two are, but the man says a factory and then off they go when he gives the location. 3:37 tick..tick..tick..

3:41 AM
Curtis goes to get Audrey, tells her that her name was on one of the hourlies that they gave Jack. She isn't cool with protecting Jack but he reminds her that it's not Jack but the country. Edgar sends over the hourlies and she takes a look at them. Jack walks in and she tells him about being involved now. Well, guess what, he has to tell her about how the guy got killed (that he did) and she isn't happy how he is breaking laws. The good news is that he reminds her that she and her dad are alive, the nuclear power plants are not melting down and that it's working.

The Chinese guy isn't impressed that Jack is doing data processing. he tells Audrey that he thinks she is lying. Bill steps in and says that he won't allow his people to be talked to like that. Audrey gets up pretty as you please and leaves.

Off to get Marwan
Jack back in the field (haha) calls the President, err Palmer and Palmer wants the information about what the Chinese guy wanted. Jack tells the President about the photo and they hang up. Palmer tells Mike to get the President to get that Chinese guy out of CTU, that he is slowing down the work they are doing.

In goes Mike to talk to the Pres. The Pres isn't happy with Palmer. He tells Mike that if he orders the guy out of CTU now, then they look guilty. Mike reminds him if they don't find the warhead, then 10 million of America's will die. HA, Pres zings him back that we could be at war with a billion Chinese. HA. The two have words over Mike having a friendship with Palmer over him while he is taking menial calls. Mike asks if he wants Palmer gone but then the Pres says no, tell him to call CTU and order the Chinese guy out. (OK, make up your mind man!)

3:53 AM
Jack and Curtis are in the field and pull in. Jack calls Chloe and asks if Marwan is in the building, she has some kind of microwave on her equipment. They are going into this warehouse (I think that Tony is there too)

The Chinese Embassy man is mad and in comes Tony (Dang, guess he is not in the field) Out goes the man, EGATS and finds Edgar and almost gets a slip as Chloe seems to save his bacon. Nope, the man calls his office and wants all the files on Jack Bauer.

At the warehouse
First guard down (killed) 3:56 and Marwan says start the sequence. 4 minutes to go.

They get up to leave... Jack, Curtis outside. Marwan tells his guy to get the car and BANG, BANG, CTU shoots the guys Marwan sent out. Jack goes inside after Marwan. Curtis sends Curtis around to spook him and OMG, Marwan walks right to the barrell of Jack's gun. Jack shoots him in the leg, steps on it and Marwan says it's too late. Curtis goes to the computer and sees the missile.

The warhead is mounted on a missile, Jack calls and tells CTU (They have a picture of it on the computer Marwan was working on) Where is the source? Jack asks Tony. They are searching for the information, trying to get some ID of the information.

16 SECONDS until the missile goes. Marwan looks at Jack.. 2 ..1... MISSILE GOES UP 4:00 AM...

EDIT- 01.25.05, post #4059

might be way off base, but i think Heller's son is fighting this so hard because he is gay. he keeps making references to his "personal life" and "it being no one's business". that's why he thinks the information he isn't telling is relevant to what they want to know. could easily be wrong, but i see this as a Heller/son, Cheney/daughter parallel to tie a big domestic issue into the show. Yes, you are right. Things are coming close to full circle. But I still think the episodes are dragging with no real action. How many more times is Habib going to escape. They have LAPD, SWAT teams, and how many CTU teams to go pick up Mandy and this guy, but when they have Marwan(?), it seemed like it was just Cutis, Jack, and 2 other guys. Get real.

We better not be. I know it was only an hour, but you think they would update us with the Chinese security guy who was on to our covert op. I was really disappointed in the last hour long episode.

About Marwan escaping again, think about how many times Jack has escaped from an impossible situation. Did people bitch then? So why now?

If anything, it just shows that Marwan is just as smart as Jack (and just as lucky too).

This show does NOT let down their longtime fans!!!

last night's episode wasn't that great and i am a longtime fan.
so mandy came back? whoppee.
so the roles of tony/michelle are reversed? whoppee.

id say 48 minutes of that hour were dedicated to gay (no pun intended) love stories between tony/michelle and jack/audrey which bored the shit out of me. then they built up this chinese issue over the past few eps, and didnt mention it once this episode. habib escaped again (how typical), when a hardcore interrogation wouldve proven way more exciting. heller son is gay (this isnt the oc, i dont care), and someone tapped into his phone and made a call from it. that isnt grand news for the last episode before the finale. all in all, shitty fluff hour that really didnt have me on the edge of my seat. granted the last minute when tony was taken hostage was quote unquote intense, but you saw that coming (or his impending death) because of the focus they had on the whole "lets run away, start over and be lovers" part. and the whoel speaker of the house 'next in line' part was a storyline that you knew was only going to build and then be settled within the episode to kill time.

longtime fans expect these issues to be well scripted and interconnected throughout many episodes yet seperate stories to overload our senses and thought processes. this season everyone is on the same focus with few side stories (at least of interest or that are well tied in).

anyway, what do we have to look forward to in the finale?
1) stopping the missile
2) capturing marwan again
3) rescuing tony
4) anything with the chinese?
5) mandy's connection to all of this

yea, should be a good episode, but im hoping it exceeds that and is a fuckign amazing episode to save this season.

ps: does anyone know if the writers have changed drastically over the seasons?

cheers.

My guess? Problem not solved this year.

which problem?

nuclear missile? that will be sovled this year.

capturing marwan? i hope it will be solved this year, im not looking forward to him becoming the osama bin laden which continuously attacks and cant be captured.

the chinese? i dont know where they hell theyre going with this. i mean, the actual issues isnt a terrorist issue, so that rules out ctu's primary involvement if next years season is dedicated to that (which is entirely possible, since jack isnt at ctu but in washington) but due to a lack of my creativity, i dont see where that would go. to involve ctu, it would have to be something tangented like the chinese/american governemnts coming to some agreement, but some chinese faction disagreeing with the decision and become rogue terrorists.

cheers.

I have a bad feeling that the Chinese issue will just be tucked away behind a "we understand your situation" from China. That storyline had some potential.

24 is like DMB to me in some ways. It can be disappointing at times, but I'm still completely hooked.

Maybe it doesn't involve CTU. Jack isn't officially there anymore, Kim and Chase aren't either, Tony is either dead or quitting with michelle, and michelle is probably quitting whether or not tony lives. That leaves no major characters at ctu except chloe (and who cares about chloe). So I say S5 follows Jack and could very well involve the Chinese since CTU won't be necessary with no characters present.

That was my thought. The Chinese situation will carry into next season. Not sure how they'll do the whole '24 hours' thing, since it would most likely have to be immediately following this day, which wouldn't be feasible.

I'm looking forward to next week like hell, though.

Throughout all seasons you will find the following names.
Michael Loceff

Robert Cochran

Whilst there are others - these five make up the core of the writing from Season 1.1 to Season 4.24

I didn’t get to see the story, buy my local Fox station this morning had a segment with the producer of the show about the show and it’s future. They keep playing the same clip with him saying “how many more bad days can Jack have?” evey time they went to break. I’m sure it wasn’t just a piece done by the station here, so I was wondering if anyone else happened to catch it?

My prediction: Missile will detonate in DC killing everyone except for those in the bunker; Jack will kill Marwan; Tony won't die but Michelle will somehow; there will be a showdown between Mandy and Jack but Mandy will survive; Max will be revealed to have been working with Marwan (Marwan's goal is to cripple the US in a series of attacks; Max's goal is to start a war with another country); Jack will be taken prisoner by the Chinese at the end of the season.

Next season will be the US at war with China, and CTU trying to rescue Jack and find Max. Tony will be working for CTU again, looking to get revenge for Michelle's death. Tony will be the one to kill Mandy, and Jack will have a showdown with Max at the end, where it's revealed that he is who Nina was working for.

OK, so that's all in my dreams.

I like it, only I don't think the US will actually eb at war with China...but I think one will be escalating. Only because I think it would be too difficult to imagine a war between two superpowers in the 21st century accurately, much less depict in on TV, and 24 usually goes for a decent semblance of accuracy.

OK, so i stopped watching 24 during season three. I cant remember why, it just wasnt moving me like it used to...it might have had something to do with sharey being brought back (i hate her)..(if she was even brought back, dont remember). I caught one episode of the current season and thought it was damn good, but didnt start watching again yet.

Over the passed few evenings i opened my season 2 that i got for my birthday a while back and popped it in. Last night i got to where the bomb exploded and kim had to say goodbye to jack. A TV show has never grabbed me like last nights episode did. 24 is a masterpiece.
