Go figure FOX would off the first black President. Just more proof that FOX is trying to dump off all the black dudes to the UPN. Bernie Mac was first, David Palmer, #2. Pretty soon Curtis will be over on that channel with a hip new family comedy "Hangin' With Mr. Curtis"....
:monkey
If anything, Fox pushed the first black president to the highest level of respectability and honor. It wouldn't be very realistic of them to keep him around forever.

Bernie Mac just plain sucks ass, though.

Feelings continued from last season to this one:
- Wanting to help the terrorists kidnap, beat with bamboo sticks, and throw from a moving train President Logan.
- Eerily wanting to do Chloe because of her quirky yet cute personality and quite excellent top shelf.
- Wanting to go drinking with Edgar Styles just to see if he could slur his words more drunk than he does already...

But really, I dislike President Logan. He is a complete moron. And I think they showed the President's aide as a traitor a little bit early in the season. That usually doesn't happen till later (i.e. marianne taylor, nina meyers, etc.)

Just can't wait another 8 hours for the next 2 episodes tonight! :monkey

wow finaly my bittorrent finished, and i woke up early this morning before school so i could watch both 2 shows.... amazing... amazing...

that poor kid, that jack takes with him... he tried to go head to head with jack at the breakfast table... i really felt bad for the kid....

and when the terrorists took over the airport, and jack was running out of that room, with the gun, it really reminded me of my other favourite character John McLane...

oooh i love this show

Wasn't the President's aide the scumbag who wanted Bauer killed against the Prez' wishes last season, too? I don't think there's any surprise that he's not proper.

yah he sure was... i thought it was cool how they were playing the psycho presidents wifes... kinda like sheri.... but it turns out she is pyscho and does need medication, but that she actualy wasn't hallucinating and palmer was trying to contact her about something important...

oh i know, i said that she looked a lot different last night. but last year, when she had the AK in her hand, :hump, and then last night with her ass, :hump. the order of hotness is
1. Kim
2. Mandy
3. Chloe
4. Marie Warner (The terrorist one)
5. Michelle (pre explosion)
6. Michelle (post Explosion)
7. Audrey
8. Nina
9. Terri
57. Kate Warner (Nonterrorist)

i pretty much agree with that list, except Audrey I hate her so much, and i would probably put Mandy just above kim... mmmm the L word...

Well I just figured it out:

Chloe is dirty.

Palmer, Tony, Michelle, and Chloe were the only ones who knew Jack was still alive. Palmer, Tony, and Michelle would never spill the beans, and Jack is certainly capable of maintaining cover.
Chloe was being pursued by the bad guys but managed to get away completely unseen, yet the bad guys somehow knew where to find her (they knew she'd lead them to Jack).

The Chinese want to fuck America over so they are getting their revenge on Jack and the US by framing Jack for Palmer's death(had to use Chloe to get it done), and ruining the United States' relations with Russia.

Just like Nina, she is the most unlikely candidate to be dirty, but you heard it here first: Chloe was turned and is working against CTU.

Some more speculation. I kept my mouth shut about this to my family while we were watching Season 4 on DVD, but now I think it's entirely possible with Michelle dead. Did anyone else sense some sort of fling and chemistry between Tony and Audrey last season before he and Michelle began to fall for each other again?

There may be some explanation there for keeping Tony...and the plain fact that's he Tony. :)

Kinda bullshit that Chloe got into Wayne's building without getting the van searched. I found that hard to believe, given the security around. Also, what do you mean by silent clocks? Plus, just because that presidential advisor looks like a traitor, doesn't mean he is. Remember season three with Gaiuel (spelling)?

I don't believe he'd be like Gael (I think that's how you spell, but I'm not sure either). The guy suggested killing Jack last season, and even acted on the idea himself even after he was denied that by President Logan. I'd say the guy is crooked for sure.

and I sort of disagree with that because believe it or not security isn't all that tight in most cases... that would have been a big risk, but with her credentials they let her by.. it's not like the president was even alive in there anyway... One of the reasons I'm saying that is because I know what security was like in a few places in washington where I thought it was a little pathetic

Ehhh I guess not. Thought we'd get that tied in finally. Thanks for the screen, though.

The only truly silent clock (ie - no noise at all) is S3.18, the end of Chappelle. The other scenes where the clock doesn't beep still have background noise.
Quite fitting as S3.18 is the most disturbing episode of 24 ever, even though S5.1 was one of the more upsetting. (cool - 5.1)

S1.24 = only episode ever with a flashback. :)

Ok a point just occurred to me a little while ago, and if I'm right, if it's valid, than I'm sorry to say it's just another example of convenient 24-style logic in order to set the particular plot in motion they want, despite whatever other logic may be at hand.

David Palmer had significant information about the day's terrorist attack, and he chose to tell.... the President's wife? I know they're old friends, and that it was said that Logan pretty much shut him out of presidential affairs since after the events in day 4 (gee, there's thanks for ya), but c'mon. Does that sound odd to anyone else? And that he was gonna wait until the daytime to tell her? That, since he did call her between 10 and 11 the night before, he would've been more immediate about it?

And the First Lady, his good ole' buddy, is the ONLY person he was telling?? (and you know that he had to be aware at some level of her unstableness) Something don't smell right here...

I was thinking the exact same thing. Especially when you consider her psychiatric problems. "I look like a cake." *dunk*

The only logical explanation that I can come up with is that only a few, select people are aware of her mental illness. Query whether Palmer would have known.

The Chinese have to be. Kiefer and the other producers have said that last season is going to inform upon this season more than any other 2 consecutive seasons in the whole run of 24, so they no doubt will be (& that's why I was a bit surprised to see they let 18 months pass).

Also I was a little dissapointed at the detail of nerve gas, because that's just another biological weapon threat, like last year.

Does anyone remember that one commercial, I think it was during season 2, where they used the Creed song (can't recall the title, but says "Hold me now, I'm 6 feet from the edge and I'm sinkin'...") It wasn't a preview for a particular episode, per se, they ran it I think when there were around 8-10 episodes left in the season, and the narration something like "When a country is in its darkest hour, and we need a hero to rise" yada yada, and it finishes on a profile of Kiefer. That came to me this morning in my head, I gotta admit that was one really cool commercial. :cool

:lol Sure did walk into that one. Actually, upon rereading my post, it seemed more sarcastic then I meant it to be.

Its hard to say what the bigger plot will be. I thought last season's big plot was to crash Airforce 1. So based on history, I'm hypothesizing that the biological threat is either a) a red herring, or b) just a prelude. All of that is just me saying, your guess is as good as mine.:lol

You see I thought it was the nuke missile heading for LA. But they had to take out Airforce 1 to get the nuclear football to get the launch codes for the missle.

But yeah this seasons big plotline is somehow going to involve people trying to cause catastrophic damage to the US.

I have this gut feeling Logan will come through to be a guy we'll end up liking. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I didn't like Driscoll at first and she turned out to be good. And then of course, Tony was an ass at the beginning of Season 1.

I have 2 questionables: the guy who he takes out in the underground garage while attempting to gain access to Palmer's apartment and the agent he takes out while coming down the stairs when escaping from Palmer's apartment. I'm not sure whether he killed these two people or merely incapacitated them. Anyone have any thoughts? I could split the difference and say 1 kill for the both of them.

it bothered me too but... palmer keeping a secret with president logan seems a near impossibility. Logan never really trusted him and it probably wouldn't be as easy to call the president while he was alone. A lot of things could have happened and Cummings could have heard something from the president and then having a meeting with just the president alone would have been difficult.

Just a further example of why all these awards are so silly, that you have to pick one over the other, as "better". This society is so goddamned intent on ranking everything.

That being said, I've always been a Kiefer fan, he's long been one of my favorite actors -- but also, Hugh Laurie fucking owns his rule, pulling off an absolutely flawless American accent (remember, he's a Brit) to boot.

This sounds very familiar (not to imply you're stealing it), in fact now that I think about it I'm almost positive that aintitcoolnews.com did this back in either season 2 or 3 (or both), where every week they'd have a dedicated 24 "talkback" page, and in the columnist's intro to it he'd had a running tally per episode on how many human beings Jack left no longer alive (the same concept was also used shortly after -- or maybe even simultaneously -- for the # of times Jack barked "Dammit!!", and also last season for the # of times the Persian mother screamed her son's name "Behrooooooz!!") :D

Well, I don't really have the money for all the DVDs, plus I don't really like buying movies, cuz I watch em once, maybe a second time after a year or two, but there's no real point. I would rent them, but you have a limited time with a rental, and I don't know that I can find all that consecutive free time to watch it. I mean, I could've watched it for free had I cared to watch it four/five years ago, so it shouldn't really be a huge deal I wanna see em for free now. Just looking for a little help, I know there was some discussion on dwonloading the last few pages. Oh well, I'll keep workin on it.

If you're a big movie renter, you should get netflix then. No late fees, and you rent a season by disc, not their entire season.

I might consider it... see my parents have a specific plan at the Hollywood Video they rent from where for a set price they can have out 3 movies at a time as long as they're under this "MVP" category (which is everything more than like 6 weeks old. Pretty good deal and they've seen so many movies, I could use that if I lived at home, but I don't...

As for body counts... here are the first two seasons:
During Day 1 433 people died, including (including the 374 passengers and crew of the 747 from episode 1.) 106 people died during Day 2.

thats cool, but jack didn't cause those deaths...

As cool as that would be, I think there would have to be at least 4 30 minute piss breaks and to change reels at the theater or something. And those chairs better be plush and rockable because you'd need to be comfortable to sit in a movie theater for 24 hrs.

That reminds me, a couple years ago I was working on this indy movie, and whatever season of 24 was running then, the 2nd or 3rd, not sure, well this guy who was in one episode as a man Jack had to go see about information was playing a small part in our film. In fact the one of his couple nights on set that I"m talking to him, and the episode that featured him had just run only a couple nights before, and the context was that Jack talked to the guy on a phone at a bar or something, the guy saying come here and let me give you what you need, and Jack goes to travel there but a baddie monitored the call and killed the guy before he could talk to Jack upon arriving. And this all took place in one of the afternoon eps, like say 3pm - 4pm.

So anyway, we're on set and I'm like "oh man, I just saw you bite it big time on '24' the other night!". And we're talking about the way the show is shot and stuff a bit, and he jokes (but with a deadpan face) "It took us 8 days to shoot that scene." The joke being that the show takes the time format so seriously that they can only shoot whatever's happening on the show at the exact time it happens in the show, so if the guy's murder takes place between 3:30pm and 3:32pm, then they can only shoot those 2 minutes at a time, thus it taking 8 days to shoot such a tiny scene. :lol

ok.... um...... so it just occured to me that this is one of those types of little anecdotes that you would've totally had to be there for, the funny doesn't come across nearly as well reading about it :p :lol But I don't feel like going back now and erasing all this :evil

Again, I'm new to the 24 scene, so, again, maybe it's been brought up before. But I saw somewhere, maybe on like the tv guide channel, a little tidbit that the cast members are required to get a hair "trim" every couple of days or something. Makes sense, and good that they take it so seriously.

I mean, and I'm thinking Mark Hamil between Star Wars movies, what if one of the actors/actresses had some sort of small accident and got a big scar on their face or something? They'd have to rewrite an episode or something!

Well and that harkens back to what I remember hearing Elisha Cuthbert crow about around the 2nd season, that she realized in retrospect she'd picked her wardrobe way too hastily for season 1 -- after all, that was the one and only thing she had to wear the whole 10 months. :shrug

The fact that Jack is back at CTU this early again is a huge letdown. And they haven't even mentioned the China plot yet.

Lost just gets better as it goes along. The first season was half great storyline and half character development, this season has been total storyline and things just get more fucked up as they go on and trying to figure it out is incredible. The fact that every detail is planned out and affects the storyline later is genius.

There was an interesting article in the Globe and Mail (Ontario newspaper) either yesterday or the day before about Keifer's continued enthusiasm to bring 24 to the big screen.
In it Keifer is quoted as saying "everytime we get a great idea for a movie we suddenly need to use it for Episode 18"
:lol

Now I thought it would be interesting to note what was happening in episode 18s.

S1 - the California Plaza shooting
S2 - Jack and Yusef bargain with Wallace for the chip
S3 - the death of Ryan Chappelle
S4 - Jack breaks Prado's fingers

not bad - S3 definitely takes the cake though for not only the best episode 18 but possibly the most disturbing episode of 24 ever, at least as far as Jack's character is concerned.

Woohoo, internet comes back just in time for 24 to start. I watched the first 4 episodes today. It's crazy how addicting it is. Every time I finish one it's like I have to watch the next. I'll rent the other seasons this weekend (no charge to me) and all of you can shut the fuck up :twenty4

It gets hard to tell the same story 5 times and try and tell it in a different way everytime.

i thought the episode as a whole was very sub-par...the last 2 or 3 minutes were the best. Oh yeah and ONLY 1 person got killed, whats up iwth that?

The mole is a little more understandable if they go in the direction of the white house controlling all of this...but they have to follow through with it...

Yeah every episode can't be action packed. This episode was really used as setting up plot for the rest of the season. A nerve gas threat, the First Lady getting shipped off to the looney bin, a mole in administration, and a President who is blind to everything. I really liked how they played the whole Spencer thing. The mole in CTU is getting old, but him being a mole put there by the administration was a nice change from the mole working for the lead terrorist. Finally, that scissors kill was awesome.

anyone who claims that 24 has lost a step is out of their mind. Tonight's episode was great! So many things going on, who cares if they repeat story lines, just keep the action coming!

I love the plot on this season a lot so far. Having crazy people is a nice touch. Having a mole in CTU was annoying, but I think it worked out in the end since it made more sense knowing he was working for the president. The preview for next week scares me.

yeah, and i'm always surprised at mike's role in the show. How has he survived 3 presidents and remined part of their staff? Still one of my favorite charachters, though.

I'm sure she'd take that over Chimera.

If this show was called "96" and had two episodes every Sunday night and two episodes every Monday I'd still love the shit out of it.

Tonight's episode was awesome.

Really love Aaron too, especially when he was Palmer's #1 SS guy. He's perfect in the role and I'm glad he's still playing it.
I really liked how they played the whole Spencer thing.
It's weird I know but his name is Spenser with two esses.
I've never seen it spelled that way.

Jonah Lotan - playing "Spenser Wolff" in episode: "Day 5: 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m." (episode # 5.5) 23 January 2006

Hmmm that's weird - it says Spencer now on imdb.com, but I'm sure it said Spenser on the screen when Chloe checked.
Anyone that taped the episode got a screen shot?
