Hmmm...I guess I'm in the minority again. I thought 24 was at the top of its game tonight. I'm hoping there is a real twist this season sometime or another. The last two seasons didn't really have any, and I'm not talking about the shockers that occured in the first episode, but more along the lines of of "I never expected that they were a bad guy" ala Marie in Season 2 (though I did call that one)

I kind of really liked tonights episode. The scenes in the mall were so intense to me. Really looking forward to next weeks episode. It looks like from the previews the crap hits the fan.

I love how the page before this is full of people putting non spoilers in spoiler tags... then tonight some people actualy talked about the previews for next week not in spoilers...
While this talking hardly revealed anything. Is it that hard to not mention the previews?

just talking about tonights episode.....
I hate how Biblo Baggins gets beat up, then can come right back into CTU no problem.
Other than that, I though tonights episode was better than the last few weeks. Oh yeah, and i completely forgot about kim....i bet she won't be back for at least another 2-3 episodes

i thought it was good tonight, not great. Logan of course not being able to make a decision, but decides to kill the innocent.
I really think the best thing to do would've been to just taken the two guys and interrogate them.
You really think Bauer wouldn't get anything out of them????
But the mall scene was good, and Bauer saving the kid was real nice

Not anymore with newer cars. But that car was older, so I guess it's possible.

i hope they kill this nerve gas story line next week, if the rest of this season is jack chasing those canisters around the city it will get old. i'm sure there's something else, but they need to get to it.
fuck. this season is weak. the first ep was unbelievably good, now its pretty much boring so far. probably shouldn't have watched season 2 on dvd right before this season, that's big shoes to fill.

Yeah, this show did reveal a little more information. The guy with the gas (i forget his name) should know that Jack is after him. And if the people with the gas are still connected to the Prez.'s aid (now dead) then they will be after jack pretty soon. They wanted him dead last season. This is all just a guess..Im tired of getting flamed for using spoilers...I also dont watch previews.

Last night's show was, in my opinion, another filler-type show. Not to say it was bad, but it just seems that none of the episodes have been living up to the standard that the first five minutes of the season set.
In any event:
I suspect that this bioterrorism threat plot will only last a few more episodes. Then we'll get his with the Chinese. Its the 24 way.

Yah I thought the episode was really great as well. Then I come on here, and im like what the hell? Did I see a different show?
I am thinking that jack doesn't quite have what it takes anymore. Well not like that, He can still save the world, but I think maybe the old jack would have let those kids die...

I am kind of liking it though, because after all he has been through it is very realistic that he wouldn't be the same old Jack.
I just watched the episode again, I didn't notice this when I first watched it. Logan said to Lynn something along the lines of 'I sent you over to CTU for blah blah blah, if you can't get the job done, I will find someone else'
Did we already know that President Logan was the one that sent Lynn over to CTU?
DMB6800

possible, but maybe not???
logan and lynn involved with the terrorists in some way, why does lynn need to supervise CTU? they've handled problems as bad as this before

There was just a ridiculous piece on FoxNews (yes somehow I hit FoxNews but I came across this) about the "women of 24" . And the woman who plays Chloe went off on some ridiculous tangent about nudity and her stripping to get info from a terrorist and her talking about chocolate milk....it was quite humorous.

Finally an episode were it starts getting back to the old 24. Next week looks to be great. Jack taking out Curtis was intense. Logans wife is making things interesting also. She is turing out to be the brains of the Logan Admin. Lynn (aka. Rudy) is a dick. Something doesnt seem right with him. Why all of the sudden was he placed in CTU. I dont think they needed his help after CTU took care of the nuclear threat last season. Its about to go down next episode.

Did anyone else catch the homeless dude at almost exactly the 31 minute mark. Jack pulls up to the building that Nathanson is hiding out in and the homeless dude yells at Jack "hey slow down." I found that very funny. But yeah, this episode was sooooo awesome.
I hate Lynn's guts, but that's just good acting/writing. His sister's boyfriend is obviously gonna get into some deep shit when he goes to seel that keycard.
And was anyone else surprised when Buchanan distracted Lynn and told him that he could use his keycard to override the phone logs. It's when Lynn sorta hit the fan, perhaps it was because he was embarrassed to reveal that he no longer has his card. That may be a partial explanation as to why Buchanan is now in holding.
greg87lax
02-21-2006, 01:09 AM
i think that lynn's sister's guy buddy who has the keycard is going to end up in CTU and someone is going to end up shot. Hopefullly it will be lynn

That's the way it would've worked in real life, but you forgot who we're talking about here.....Jack "Anything to stop terrorism" Bauer!
@drian
02-21-2006, 10:06 PM
I figured out about 5 seconds after Jack knocked out Curtis. That they could have just talked. Set up a plan like this. We call CTU from like a payphone, tell them what is happening. CTU follows jack with a helicopter to where Nathanson wanted to meet. Then when nathanson says ok come meet me. The CTU helicopter flies in, JACK says 'oh shit, the russians are coming' Nathasnson gives up the info.

Hello again. My apologies for some stubborness a few weeks ago, but it's behind us now.
In the past month alone I've been catching up like crazy, one dvd at a time (rented, I probably wouldn't watch again, at least for a while). I'm already on season freaking 3! I love it. I know two other people who just got into it and are doing the same thing as well, only they're avoiding season 5, which I'm not. Maybe I should though... As someone mentioned, it is hard having access to a whole bunch of them at once, you want to watch the next one as soon as you're done!
Anyway, I recently came upon the "Jack Bauer facts" but I did see they've been posted, and a while ago at that. But there's one other thing I thought I'd throw in that I'm pretty sure wasn't mentioned. I went to buy some cigars a few weeks ago at a shop and in the window they had a big ad for the Cigar Aficionado magazine they sold, with none other than Keifer on the cover (love the picture). Big article inside about the show, few words with him, the process, just all kinds of neat stuff. How the writers and producers have this "cigar room" where they sit around and even invite any cast members in just to toss ideas around for the show. Also a little side interview with Carlos Bernard (Tony) about the show and his love of cigars.
Just thought I'd let y'all know in case anyone wants to pick it up. I decided I might stay away from this thread a little more, only cause my curiosity tends to lead me to things I don't wanna know about. I know you're usually only discussing opinions and stuff, I'd rather just watch it with a fresh mind. No harm no foul :)

Tonight's episode may have been the best so far of the season. I was pumped the entire way through. Can't wait for next week. Previews looked outstanding.

Just take out all the spaces. Preview before you submit to make sure it worked.
I was looking through IMDB at Aaron (Gleen Morshower) to see where I knew him from, but I couldn't find it. I did however find that he was in an episode of Full House :lol I think it was when Jessie was gonna get married to Becky, but first he went skydiving, got stuck in an apple tree or something? Apparently, he (Glenn) was a farmer. I'm just guessing it was right around that time, haven't seen the episode in a while.

I say let the council vote that Aaron is named heir of Chuck Norris's throne. Because he'll roundhouse kick you if you come near the president or anyone with family ties to him.

Im putting this in spoilers incase people didnt watch the previews.
First tonights shows.
I thought it was lame how the limo didnt blow up. I mean it was a rocket launcher. Jack got played. It wasnt even a good play. I mean when does jack ever trust someone that suspicious. Thank god "rudy" is finnaly out of there and I hope hes done forever. I think i might hate him as a real person after tonight. Oh but next week might be what makes this season the best ever.
Kim and Tony comming back. Wow. Kim will probably fuck shit up again as always. Tony might remember somethign from when he was attacked at the begining of the season. Also Audrey's dad still keeps getting mentioned by "Rudy" and I think he will be back sometime soon. This nerve gas is starting to get kicked. I was starting to think that the DOD had somethign to do with the nerve gas, but then Jack was almost killed. I was thinking Audrey's dad would be a prime suspect, but not so much now. I cant wait. Two hours, its going to be sick.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, anyone think this may be a possibilty:
Lynn's sisters boyfriend is actaully in with the terrorists and got his CTU ID card to help smuggle the Centox gas in there? From the preview for next week, it looks like one of the canisters is planted at CTU.
joepsu0985

That is interesting. Maybe one of the terrorists does drugs or he knows them through the underground. He might just get money for the card because that is what "Rudy's" sister wanted anyways.

How could it be illegal. You can get the show for free, if you live in an area where you can pick up fox on an antenna. You can't buy the show, therefore it isn't illegal to download it.

On another note, this show has great screenwriters. The Russian President and Russian First Lady really carried on a great conversation with Martha.
:eek ehh I'm sorry, but if you really think that, there's plenty other good television you've yet to see. I like 24 to a certain degree, obviously I bother watching it, but it's far from the best thing on the tube, certainly in part to its writing.
I thought it was lame how the limo didnt blow up. I mean it was a rocket launcher.
Well, keep in mind the hit had its main impact more towards the front of the limo it looked like, as opposed to directly square in the center. Also, the presidential motorcade is fortified out the yingyang, and rightly so, and we're not just talking some bulletproof glass. I believe the main limo is designed even to sustain (to a certain extent) a nuclear blast.

I was just trying to clear it up. See, it must've been other people talking about downloading this season's episodes that confused me into thinking no one cared about downloading any episodes on BT last month. Yet, you chewed me out making a reference to 'what if I was doing the same with DMB's music?' (which I don't)
Okay, I see how it's legal cuz it's not for sale yet, but the Mods had a strict policy on here in the weeks before Stand Up came out that anyone posting downloads for the tracks would be banned as it was illegal...

Yes that makes sense. Downloading seasons 1-4 off of a torrent site would be Illegal because you can buy the dvds. Since season 5 isnt out yet on dvd, it is not illegal to d/l them. At least that is what I think.
Downloading DMB music weeks before it comes out is not the same as downloading 24 which is months and months and months away from coming out on dvd.
Even when it does come out, Im pretty sure the copies I have now won't become illegal once the dvds come out, because they are the TV versions. Much like you can tape the show at home, on a vcr or dvr.
This same thing happened with the WOTR PBS special, it was legal for us to share that because it was on PBS; it would however be illegal to share the dvd version.

Hmm, so are you saying if the BT's of seasons 1-4 were just tv rips then it would be okay? I never thought of it like that. Kinda like a taper version of a show that was released by the band.

I really don't think there is anything wrong with it, but I do think the law is very grey in that area. It would be hard to find a taper version of old seasons of 24 when the dvd versions are out, and much better quality I'm sure.

Sorry to tell you this, but torrenting episodes of Season 5, regardless of the fact that it has not come out on DVD, is illegal. Fox creates the show. Fox sells the rights to broadcast the show, which they create, to various companies, such as Rogers, Cogeco, Shaw and the like. You pay Rogers, Cogeco or Shaw a certain amount of money per month in order to use their services, including watching television shows created and distributed by Fox. That is how Fox makes their money. By downloading shows via bitirrent, you are circumventing paying the distributor (i.e., Rogers) who has the sole right to distrubute shows created by Fox. This is also known as stealing. The fact that Season 5 has not been released on DVD has no bearing on whether you are entitled to download it via bitorrent.
Your argument essentially equates to this: It is ok for me to swipe a pack of bubblegum if the pack of bubblegum has has not yet been put on the shelf for sale at my local convenience store.

Well the only problem with that is, I can get 24 for free via my antenna I have hooked up. Which is legal. I d/l the show though because I can hardly make out what is happening on the screen with all the static.
Fox makes most of there money via adverstising; not selling the rights to there show. The only problem with me d/ling torrents to them, would be I don't see any of the commercials.
The bubble Gum anaolgy makes no sense, because there isn't bubble gum floating through the air for free, which you can pick up via an antenna.

Well I can't speak to your antenna specifically. But regardless of its reception, you still don't have legal authority to download the episodes via bitorrent. There's no justification. If you want to watch 24 in HD, for example, you have to pay for it.
Fox does make money via advertising, but that is a moot point. Fox owns the rights to the show and, as such, has the right to do with it as they please. One of the rights they have is to distribute the show in a manner they see fit. If they authorized legal bitorrenting of the show, then all would be fine. They do not. In order to watch 24, you must do so through Fox, or an authorized distributor, such as Global.
As for my bubblegum analogy, I stand by it. Don't look at the superficial differences between bubblegum and a television show. Both are products, consumed by individuals, for which consumption money has to be paid. If, somehow, you are consuming the product (i.e., chewing bubblegum or watching 24) without paying for it, then you are stealing.
Is it legal to torrent a movie that has yet to be released in theatres or on DVD? Is it legal to download songs from an album that has yet to be released?

If you can get the movie or album for free legaly ie: the radio, or antenna tv. I don't see the big deal. If someone can produce an offical document that says you are not allowed to watch 24, unless you do so by paying for cable, or using an antenna. I would consider not torrenting the show.

I was actualy thinking a lot about last nights show, specificaly when Jack realized that he was locked in the room with a bomb. At first when he said 'Oh god you are so stupid' I thought Jack meant Robocop was stupid.
Then I realized that Jack was talking to himself, calling himself stupid. Which makes sense, old Jack would have never let himself get into that situation.
I love this new side of Jack because it makes so much sense. After he has lost so much, his wife, his daughter, and his own life/identity, it would be stupid for him to be acting the same way he did in previous seasons.

Sweet, sweet episode last night. I was just on pins and needles waiting to see if Agent Pierce was going ot be ok, he's one of my favourite characters.
Nina and George being mentioned in last night's ep was pretty cool.
2 hours next Monday - now that's a cure for the Mondays right there if I've ever heard of one!!! (Not that every Monday isn't an acceptable event during a season of 24)
Brilliant, brilliant episode and so far an awesome season. Peter Weller, somehow landing a role in the great 24 after that awful made for TV Poseidon Adventure, did a great job and I thought it was so cool that Jack made that mistake....I guess he is human after all.
Season 5 is right up there with 2 and 3 as my favourite seasons. Callery is doing a blinding job with the score this year.

also, (sorry about the triple post, but i realized one after the other there was another topic i wanted to talk about), with the downloading episodes being illegal or legal, if a tv network shows a movie its still illegal to download it because they paid for the rights and got permission for who ever owns the rights. the same thing goes for tv shows, so its illegal to dl episodes that havent been released on dvd yet cuz the rights are still owned. that said i dont have anything against people who dl them

Oh and I knew of his dad from a few movies but didn't know it was his dad.

What's the story, Wishbone?
The story is I have wanted a dog for sometime now. I mentioned this to my dad, and I said I didn't want to spend $500 though. He told me he knew someone that was looking after a dog until they found a home for him. So I went through an adoption process with that site, and now the lil guy is mine :)

Yeah adoption is always a good way to go. Good deal and in some cases, you might saving the little guy (or girl)'s life and they're grateful for it :thumbsup

oh c'mon Adrian, you gotta get off this man. Nobody counts what's shown immediately at the end of the episode for the following week's show (which is seen by millions of people) as a spoiler. It's not very reasonable to count that as such and make a whole stir about it.
Now if I said that in 4 weeks that Tony wakes up but gets shot and killed by some other mole inside CTU, than yea that's most definitely spoiler material and whoever talks about it openly should get reprimanded accordingly, but c'mon you can't say the teaser for next week is.

Alot of the people in this thread avoid watching the previews because they typically give away too much about the next episode. I think everyone here should respect their wishes and simply discuss the previews using spoiler tags.

Hey man I was just doing you a favor, thinking you would put that in spoiler tags before matt saw it. Matt is the one who made that rule in this thread not me. I just don't want to see you get banned.
I realize not everyone thinks previews are spoilers, that's why I said 'at least in this thread it is'

Especialy for 24, the ammount that is spoiled in 24 previews is nuts. I mean like in Lost previews they will just tease you, they will show something amazing and then it will turn out to be someones dream. That is never the case in 24.

You know people in here do not want to be spoiled by information obtained from previews; but you refuse to aknowledge our choice. Is it really that difficult for you to type [ SPOILER ] [ /SPOILER ] around your text?
Either you forgot, or you are just being an ass. Which one is it?

Well, to the discussion of the show itself...I've actually just started watching this show this season, and have seen some random shows from other seasons on A&E and WGN lately...saw the last 4 episodes of S2 last night and tonight, and am really thinking about picking up the DVD's...they are just so damn expensive, however...
Anyway, how do you diehard 24 fans feel this season compares to the previous ones?
I haven't really seen much of anything from Seasons 3 or 4, but I think, from what I've seen, that 1 and 2 seemed a bit better. However, I really won't know until I watch more of the past seasons to get to know the entire story.
