I hate this stupid show.
Why must I be tormented week after week? I just want to go through one week without wondering what will happen to Jack Bauer.
Ok. IMO, worst episode of the season so far, but that's ok, because they made up for it with Nina coming back.
Previews for next week - looks to much, much stronger. Nina: "Convince me." Incredible.
"that guy has more lives than a cat"
:lol :lol

Agreed. The ending was weak and the Palmer subplot is going to have to be fleshed out a little more, but the previews for next week will definitely keep me wondering.

The end wasn't weak! Jack actually having to say "please" instead of his normal convincing "this and that will happen if we don't do this!"
Ramon wanting to play it out a little longer instead of Hector.
Seeing Chase "Alexander Mogilny" get a little bloody.
What a gorgeous shade of lipstick on Sarah Clarke. Man she is lovely. I was laughing my ass off when Nina comes out. You know she's married to Xander Berkley (George Mason)?
This is the best damn show around hands down. IMO episode 2 was the worst of season 3 so far.
Get rid of Wayne and rescue Lynne Kresge from whatever mental asylum she was forgotten in.
Nice to see Tony going a bit Hunter S. Thompson.

My guess is Nina, but who knows.
I WAS RIGHT! While the whole episode was quite predictable, there were some great moments. I kept on saying I hated Wayne, and now I have a reason to justify that.
The quote about Jack having more lives than a cat was just hilarious. :lol
The preview...
Jack: I'm not the person I was two years ago.
Nina: Convince me.
I cringed. I can't wait to see if anything happens there.
It will also be interesting to see what happens between Tony and Michelle...
I'll say it again. Nina/Jack will blow up. Huge.
My friend Carpe said this and I'm not so sure I disagree with him: Jack's not gonna make it this season.

I tell you what his little Mexican piece of 'get down' is definitely not going to make it. It was nice 3 weeks ago to make a little more sense out of why Jack seemed indifferent in that 1st episode with Kate Warner on the phone.
Jack/Nina - one of them has to go. I hope they have a good mudfight first though. I think Jack will finally have his revenge for Terri on Nina. I'm pretty sure there is much confirmation of Keifer being signed through to the end of season 4 but there is much speculation on the IMDb boards anyway - no actual links to proof.

I've been thinking that, but I'm not sure that the producers are willing to get rid of Kiefer.
If Jack doesn't die, I think he's going to fail. Something huge will happen, and he won't stop it. Either way, I don't think this season will follow the "formula" of the others.

No takers yet? "But Nina killed Terri" you might say. Remember how Nina seemed a bit apprehensive before she did it though? Jack (theoretically) killed Chase to keep the job going. Don't put the same principle out of Nina's grasp.

I've read that after Season 1, they signed Kiefer to 6 more seasons. But that doesn't mean they can't still kill him off. I'm sure it's part of every contract on the show.
Not that I want it to happen. 24 is Kiefer Sutherland's show. I'm damn proud for him, because he's an amazing actor and he deserves to have a role this good to play.

All I can say is Nina should still be in jail from 3 years ago. She helped explode a nuclear bomb on US soil for God's sake. What I take from this episode is that since she is not in prison, she must be in on the "plan" or still be working for Jack/CTU in some kind of way. There is no other reason for her to be loose.

Actually that's the opposite of the 2 issues. You're still on to something though, because Tony says he put that code (the one you're talking about) into the "shared volume" and not on Kim's personal grid. That might be the truth, but let's remember that Adam missed it too...not just Kim. And Adam is supposed to be the main-man as far as CTU leg work - I think if Tony put it in the shared volume, Adam would have known.

Which included a pardon for the murder of Jack Bauer.

Shouldn't they have at least arrested her for killing Faheed in S2? That came after the presidential pardon and before the pre-pardon for killing Jack. She was lead off in cuffs from what I remember.

First of all, the movie Double Jeopardy was inacurrate in the interpretation of the law.
Double Jeopardy only includes the same crime (ie. same date, time,) if you are found not guilty of killing someone on lets say 6/17/03, you cannot be tried for that exact thing again. Suppose the person was not dead but just missing, and when they resurfaced you actually killed them. You can be charged for that murder.
So she cant kill him without consequence in legal terms.

I wasn't referring to the legal technicalities of the movie, just that the movie allowed for a killing with no legal consequence.
As for 24, Palmer pardoned Nina in advance for the murder of Jack Bauer. She was pardoned for something that hadn't happened, and therefore, there is no reason to belive that the pardon is no longer valid. As the show goes, Nina can still kill Jack with no legal recourse.

Well, there was no written pardon for Jack's murder. So that pretty much squashes any possibility of that.

dobyblue

But did the pardon not include any crimes up to the point when she had a gun aimed at Jack after the crash? Which would include Faheed? A "full written pardon."
Anyone got a quote handy of exactly what Nina's wording was to the president regarding the pardon? It was granted after Faheed's murder after all.
bdb23
01-07-2004, 05:43 PM
Nina got 2 pardons. One before Faheed for all of her crimes, including the CTU bombing, etc. And one after Faheed that was for the future murder of Jack. My memory tells me that she committed an un-pardoned crime (Faheed's murder) in between the 2 and that the second pardon didn't mention Faheed.

End of s02e09
"Ms. Meyers, if the information you provide culminates in the successful interception of the nuclear device, you will get everything you asked for. You will be pardoned in advance for the murder of Jack Bauer."
That was an addition to the "total pardon" she had already been verbally granted.
Beginning of s02e10
"Sir, they're awaiting your orders....do you want her taken back to prision?
"No, we'll honor our original deal. I'll pardon her for the charges of murder & treason as soon as we confirm her information."
Everything Nina has done illegally, thus far, under US law, has been pardoned. Including the murder of Faheed.

In season 2, due to a series of circumstances, Nina had Jack at gunpoint and information about a nuclear bomb that was set to go off.
In order to give the information, she demanded a full pardon for all past crimes, and a pardon for the killing of Bauer (which was to be done after she gave the information). Jack got out of it, and so she wasn't able to kill him.

Still such crap. Why would they pardon her for killing Faheed when that wasn't part of the "original deal" they had before Nina killed him? Just plain dumb that they would let a traitor go when they had the chance to bring her back to jail. Just dumb.

Did you notice how gross Sherry looked in season 1 as opposed to season 2? I've heard that they do that (make characters look especially ugly with bad clothes & makeup & hair) in order to make the viewers to like them less.
So there might be a reason a character looks especially bad. Is this the case with Kim? Tough call...but the 8-year old little boy bowl haircut does need to go.

Nina Sherry 1-2 punch. Bang. When I saw the preview last week of Nina kissing Jack, I thought - oh geez that's lame. But it makes sense now - the whole getting herself to trust that Jake won't kill her.

Sherry is Palmers exwife. in the first season she went behind his back on a bunch of things, was very untrustworthy and controlling. so he fired and divorced her.
season 2 she was also a villan. she meddled in everyones affairs and other negative details that i cant get into now
*cough* i know, i know, i know ;) *cough*
all i know about her is that she is david's ex-wife.

mark, you're going to have to watch Season 1 and 2 for Sherri's story. It IS the Palmer storyline, pretty much. Short story, she lied to David about a bunch of stuff, tried to entice him to have sex with an aide (that's S1). Season 2, she pretty much engineered his whole "downfall" last season, when the VP tried to oust Palmer.
ok. cool.

Sherry Palmer was not too predictable. Not in the episode RIGHT after Nina coming back. it may have been something one might have thought of in a couple episodes but not tonight!
Awesome show!
On another note
I think Sean Callery writes the best music of any tv show. Going back and watching seasons 1 & 2!!! I think the scoring of all three seasons has been tremendous. Probably why Callery is still doing it into the third season. Great stuff.

Okay granted - a few seconds before! :) They can run the show without them but nothing wrong with that devious bitch coming back to stir up the shit a bit? Could have been S2 reunion as well?
Isn't it funny how whenever Chappelle is a dick to someone I somehow feel sorry for them. I'm not that fond of Chloe (and I don't mean she shouldn't be on the show I just find that she's very good at being annoying) but as soon as Chappelle causes her to say "parents are a protected group sir" all of a sudden my heart strings are being pulled! how can i be calm when i've already figured out the whole plot?! :bounce
do you have the DVDs?
no. they are kind of expensive up here.
i can rent them tho. i just haven't had the time.
The Chloe "subplot" - I don't know wtf the point of it is, they spent a lot of time on her this episode if it was just for fleshing her character out more, which I doubt that's all it was. We'll have to wait and see...
As far as Sherry in prison - obviously Palmer had some influence on that process - and she did help him in the end of D2..so...
As sad as it was to see Claudia shot - I'm kind of glad she is gone. I didn't like the Jack/Claudia affair, and this will twist the knife in Jack's belly a little more when he finds out. From the looks of it, Chase will be back in America w/ Claudia's family next episode (read: out of the tense situations), so all we have to hope on is Jack in Mexico. This episode and the last one were the "lull" episodes, so to speak. It's pretty impressive when you can term two killer episodes as lull. Nina/Sherry back to back - this season just got a whole lot more dimensional.
Something I read on the 24um (the real one on Fox's site) that really caught my eye and I COMPLETELY agree with. In reference to Jack/Nina:
"There's also the possibility that he really did/does "care" about Nina, and he still has a "thing" for her and feels VERY guilty about it.
There's also all kinds of psychological stuff we could get into. Maybe he's so destroyed emotionally he's willing to embrace anything that feels familiar, etc."

Not Jack. He's doing his job.
Ya think so?
I think that's the thing here - they've done such an excellent job of building Jack Bauer as a character - there's so much to him, he's damaged by the loss of his wife. But w/ the shoot addiction, it shows just how messed up he can be/is. It could go either way.

Throwing my hat in here cause I finally got caught up with the tapes of weeks 3-6...I missed week 3, taped it, and then didn't get a chance to watch it before 4, taped that one, didn't get caught up, taped 5...and so on...anyway, it's been killing me to start posting in here, and for obvious reasons I couldn't.
Anyway, to my point...
Yeah, they are building him in an excellent way. I agree that things can go either way. Nobody can read him, especially not now that he is "dark". My prediction? I'm thinking sometime down the line we're going to have a "Jack v. Chase" standoff with Kim in the middle.

How did I not know this thread existed?!? I've been unhealthly addicted to this show since the first episode of the first season!! It is definitely the best show on tv and either my top or at least 2nd favorite show of all time. Obviously you guys know how great and amazing it is so I won't preach about that.
But I will say that last night's episode was probably one of my favorites this season. I'm loving the Jack/Nina situation...whenever those 2 are together you know it's gonna be some good stuff. As for the Chase storyline...I really don't like him that much but all that stuff was pretty exciting last night. I had a feeling something bad was gonna happen to Claudia damn't! Just when I was starting to really like her too. :( I'm glad to see Sherry is gonna be back...I think she adds a lot to the show whenever she is on. Penny is a great actress and Sherry is a great character...she's perfect. So yea...last night's episode kicked all the above assness imho

I think they give away way too much crap or at least make you start thinking about stuff that you really shouldn't know about. I stopped watching them last week because I felt let down about "the second buyer" because I had already thought about it being Nina in my mind...it was still a great surprise but I'll enjoy the show much more now. I stopped watching them last season for a good bit. When they showed Lynn falling down the stairs--that was the last straw.

The fact that they killed Teri at the end of S1 is amazing in itself. Unprecedented on a television show. The whole season he busts his ass to save them, then he gets to her, and she dies in his arms. (Silent clock to 12:00:00)

ramon salazar is the fucking man.
I definitely didn't see that coming. Then again, I'm the king of not seeing things coming.
These last 3 episodes have had such a different vibe to them. I like them, but the first 8 eps. were just...so amazing. These last three have been so new feeling, it's tough to get comfortable with them.
But I know when I buy the DVD set that I'll love them.
Notice the numerous Season 4 mentions on 24Inside?
My main guess for this season is - Nina dies, but not before we get just enough information to go after Max/Mandy/Whoever that guy who called Max is. :)

I was thinking the exact same thing while watching tonight. I would love nothing more than for Jack to shoot her in the back of the head. But I'm not a psycho.

Setter eps. that's all.
And no good commander of a Delta Team would let Chase lead recon on something like this...that kinda ticked me off.

I saw the whole Ramon shooting Hector thing coming...it's one of those things where it's so unpredictable it's predictable. Anything can happen.

For some reason, I don't think Nina will die this season. I can't really put words to how I want to explain it, but she's kinda like the glue that holds so much together and adds so much drama to the plot...there's so much more intensity when she's around.

I completely agree. He's someone I see dead by the end of the season.
Another person whom I think will not make it to the end of the season: Sherry Palmer. I think something I saw in the previews last night led me to think that. I'll explain what I mean later unless someone doesn't want to know what the previews had.
Enough morbidity for now.
I definitely didn't see that coming. Then again, I'm the king of not seeing things coming.
i thought for sure that ramon would want to back out of the deal before hector would.

I think I like the last couple of episodes more than the first few. There's much more intensity with Nina back. I still think she'll end up doing something good before the end.
What the fuck is the deal with Chloe and her fucking baby? Do we really need this single mom at work bullshit? What lobby group forced this useless plot in the show?

Tom, as you know, things always tie together...I figure there's a reason for the whole baby thing, and for Chloe getting alot of screen time..

Man, that whole Ramon shooting Hector seen was great. I really didn't see that coming. I enjoyed last night's episode a lot. However i do not like Chase, I hope he dies. I also don't get the whole Chloe subplot either, I find it rather annoying.

I find the whole Chloe subplot hilarious. Chappelle was such an ass last night to her, but what else is new...
Perhaps something's gonna happen to Chloe and someone else will have to take care of the baby?

I really hate to be so morbid today, but really, this season (comparied to the other seasons), there haven't been too many people that have died.
Who do you think will die before the end of the season? My guesses: Chase and Sherry Palmer. The little discussion about Chloe dying so that Kim has to take care of the baby is fathomable, but how would Chloe die? Chappelle kills her because she's a pain in the ass? :p

Maybe having Chloe's baby there is a ploy to have Kim watch her, so that she won't be concerned with what is happening with Jack and Chase. BTW, I saw Old School again last night and forgot that the actress that plays Kim is also in that movie.

Maybe Chloe will end up choking her baby to death so she can do her job, and then Chappelle will end up throwing it in the dumpster!! Whaddya think???.......

yeah...i was hoping for some nudy shots in old school...but no..
also, i think the whole Chloe/baby thing is just kim's sucky plot part 3. if you think about it, Kim is really irrelevant this season. 1) she's not in trouble 2) too much clothing :D 3) chase is probably going to die...so she's screwed over 4) nina will probably escape.
