Thisis also what I was thinking....

I mean, anyone else see the parallels between Palmers and Kennedy's...Wayne's doomed as far as I see it.

Going to have to repost...Spoiler tags don't work when you're quoting someone. So annoying. :shrug

just finished watching season 3. This was the only season i missed. I had a ton of stuff to do my senior year of HS and couldnt catch the show that often, but I must say it was the deepest of all the seasons and the darkest. I loved the idea of the bio-terror, and the story line was very good. I didnt get bored the entire 6 discs. I also think it was the first season where we saw jack so vulnerable. The ending where is was breaking down and just went right back to CTU was that point. I also think we learned a lot from the characters and Chloe being introduced was great. Her character from season 4-5 change drastically. On to season 4.
Season 3 is widely known as BADASS :thumbsup

Don't know if anyone's seen this site yet.

some of those are pretty funny

The city of Los Angeles once named a street after Jack Bauer in gratitude for his saving the city several times. They had to rename it after people kept dying when they tried to cross the street. No one crosses Jack Bauer and lives.:lol

Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious. At first, I thought the brother thing was pretty odd, and I definitely don't think they were planning for that last season. However, the Graham Bauer character is fantastic, and the actor who plays him did a great job in this episode. You knew they had to throw in a set-up episode, and this one was a good one for what is to come next.

First of all, thank you everyone for honoring the spoiler tags. I'm not reading Jake's "spoiler" because he's probably right. :lol

Anyway, I'm not sure what to think about last night's episode. On the one hand, it started off so strong - the fear and hopelessness that was felt in the Oval Office scene was incredible - when they started to move to the bunker, I simply said, "wow." It was a great scene.

However - I'm not so sure how I feel about the whole Jack's brother deal. Is it soap-opera-ish? Shit I hope not - but I'm not so sure. I'm glad this is happening in the 5th hour - which means it won't be the total focus for the entire day and a lot of questions will be answered by day's end. If it was a bombshell that they dropped in the 24th hour, I would have been pissed. I still don't know, though. I feel kind of how I felt in the middle of Day 3 - like I was in uncharted waters - which I guess I should be happy about. The writers are constantly shocking us regardless of the fact that we are in an environment where we expect to be. However, I do have full confidence in the writers that this won't get all General Hospital on us, and the pieces will fall into place regarding Jack's family that makes it all worth watching. I am anxious to see what the deal is, though, behind his family. Did they want to get rid of him (in China)? Why was Graham working with the President in Day 5, etc? It's all going to be super interesting to find out, at the very least.

I have to mention the end of the episode before I finish this post. A few pages back we were discussing best use of split screens, and I mentioned my favorite as 1.13 - the Cofell episode - as my favorite. Last night's isn't in that class, but wow - I absolutely loved it. Near dead silence with President Palmer addressing the nation. A few seconds into the address...the screen begins to shrink to the corner. Wow - what a way to end the ep. Class.

Trippin4136

I mean there has to be A LOT more to the story with Gray. No doubt Jack will find out his ties to Logan and how and why he was sent to China on his brother's bidding.

The line Gray said "his has the ability to dig up things you don't want him to" (or along those lines) lives the door open for some ridiculous shit to go down.

On another note, am I the only one who wants confirmation on what exactly happened to Logan now that Captain Bluetooth is back? Logan being taken away off an airfield is simply not enough for me.

With Jack's family it sounds like his dad and brother were behind him gettin jailed with the Chinese. His brother may have been planning this whole thing in the last season. I dont think they will get general hospitalish on us at all. Other than the fact with one thing. I think it will be minor.

Regardless, his age still requires Jack to have not only cheated on Terri, but cheated on Terri with his brother's wife/girlfriend/love interest. Of course it is possible, but what we know of Jack I'm not sure they'd go there. He was with Nina during the time he and Terri were apart though...so we'll just have to wait and see.

Tremendous episode Monday night! I finally had a chance to see it last night on the HD-DVR. What a freakin' plot twist! I can't wait to see how this thing with Graham and Jack's father unfolds. I was wondering how long it was going to take the show to delve deeper into Jack's personal life. The most we know about his family is through his wife and daughter, and now to see we have extended family out there...EXCELLENT!

I also thought it was interesting that one of the lines they used in the previews leading up to the season was actually used on Graham, whereas in the trailer for the premiere, it was some random guy. The line "You're hurting me." "Trust me, I'm not." Obviously they had to do that, otherwise that would have given everything away in the previews, but I just thought that was interesting.

Either way, as of this moment, I'm REALLY liking where this is going, and I KNOW its going to get better because...
Both President and Mrs. Logan are due to have episode arcs around midway through the season, so we'll DEFINITELY get background on Jack being in China and the reasons for everything happening the way it did!! Hopefully anyway! :haha

I feel that this is a good time to come back from my winter break hiatus and make my 1,000th post... Talking about "24" to a new fan is always a pleasure...

Yo. I'm glad you've liked what you've seen, but let me tell you this much... Janet's fake dad ranks very very low in the list of surprising revelations/moments throughout '24' history. In my opinion, it is absolutely worth sitting down and watching every season as soon as you can. It is darn fine television.

In fact, I'll go far as to say that last week's revelation, about Graham, was the single most shocking moment for me in all of '24.' Noone could have said "I should've seen that coming."

Anyway... I'm glad to see that '24' finally spent the extra money on making a duplicate Oval Office (finally!), but I'm disappointed that they've gone down to the bunker so quickly... I was getting used to have a president, ya know, NOT in hiding.

Finally, I agree with the speculation that Jack is the father of his brother's son. No doubt.

Thanks, folks, it's good to be posting again after a month away!

I own Seasons 1, 2, and 4... Granted, it's not like I'm bored and pop in a disc and watch a single episode (impossible to do), but I love being able to lend out the dvds to other people in order to get them hooked...

It's like the Seinfeld dvds... I don't know why I buy them, I never watch them.

Maybe eventually I'll do a season-marathon again (how I saw Seasons 1, 2, and 3), but it's not really a show that's good if you only watch a single episode.

Ya know, as much as I've ragged on 24 for awhile now as being perhaps the most absurd show on TV and don't watch it anymore (the ludicrious "twist" of the president as the villain was the final, FINAL straw for me, hell, when I'd been proclaiming since near the end of season 2 that I'd never watch the damn thing again because it had become way too ridiculous), I do gotta admit.... there was one particular TV promo cut for it that was pretty bad ass, and I thought of it again recently for the first time since then, and so much so that I wouldn't mind even being able to see it again. I've no doubt most of your freakish Bauer worshipers will know what I'm talking about :p

It was hearing the song on the radio again that was used that tipped me off. Anyway it was a special promo cut for probably back during either the 2nd or 3rd season, I'm not exactly sure, when there were only like maybe 6 or 8 episodes left in the given season. They used Creed's "One Last Breath" song, with the images and voiceover going for this special angle of how "when America needs a true hero, the only one we can turn to is Jack..." that kinda thing. As ashamed somewhat as I am to admit it, they way they used the song actually left a bit of a mark on me, I guess. Now I know on plenty of film DVDs on the extras they put on many of the 30 and/or 15 second TV promos that were issued at the time of release, do they do that on any of the 24 DVDs? (and if so would this particular one be on that season's set?)

Of course, now I'll sit back and pretend that any of you would even begin to want to truthfully answer that question, after I've come into your little cubby-hole and ripped on your show somewhat :p :lol

I think you're missing out. This season is starting out quite a bit better. And despite the ridiculous nature of the show, they still do it better than anybody else.

I think the writing on tonight's show was terrific, particularly during the Karen v Tom standoffs. And the end was also fantastic. I mean, you had to know Graham was going to turn around at some point considering his role at the end of last season.

Its going to be real interesting how this season ties into what he was doing last season. And the whole Chinese prison camp thing. It sounds like he wanted jack there to avoid him dealing with this, and that this was planned for a while. Talk about family respect. Graham, is going to be the biggest betrayal to Jack ever if the writers put that in play.

^^ EXCELLENT writing tonight. The dialogue between Karen and Tom and also Karen and the president was tremendous! Not a lot of action, but we're really getting down to the meat and potatoes with Graham. I really hope Jack exposes him and figures out he was behind sending him to China. I PRAY that this happens!!!

Already can't wait for next week!!!!!

The news (here) is lame. How pathetic is it when you have to trick people into watching your broadcast?

Last week after the show was over and before the next week's previews, they had a commercial and said one of their stories would be a behind the scenes on the set of 24. I had to run an errand but I sat around to wait for it. After a long time I had to give up and leave.

They did it again tonight, previewing a story on "why the stars of the show are concerned for the direction of this season" and 25 minutes into the broadcast it hasn't come up yet. :lol

Trippin4136

I thought tonight was terrific. I agree with the poster who praised the writing and dialogue. Both really helped energize the season and really dig deeper into the plot line. The Bauer family plot is going to explode.

I really hope Jack exposes Graham next week. I can't wait until that gets out in the open!!

I think Karen's resignation speech to Palmer will light a fire under his ass and he won't fall victim to Lennox's shit.

The combination of Jack not knowing about what Graham has done (although there were vibes in the car that he may have) and that they don't know the nukes are unactually inactive is quite a twist.

Excellent episode, I already can't wait for Monday.

I think Tom is a douche and it's awesome how the show seems to be playing off of the complaints of the Patriot Act by much of the public. It almost reminds me of V for Vendetta, where it's almost warning what could happen if people take things to extremes.

But that's the sign of a great character. You hate them for everything they are and feel so strongly about them, but they're not even real.

I was telling my buddy after last night's episode my following belief:

Yes, I hate Tom Lennox. However, I don't think that makes him a great character. I simply believe that it's ridiculous that they can make a character 100% jackass and then be praised for making a "great" character... In real life, people in that position, would not, I hope, backstab so quickly and be in such a prime position to manipulate the president. In real life, I hope, it would be like David Palmer when he handled Sheri "DAMNIT, Sheri, why must you keep manipulating me?"

Above all, I think Tom Lennox is more annoying that hate-worthy. I think what evokes the most hate is that he goes along uncontested, just like that weasel last season ratted out to the president (when he was about to shoot himself) and then got away with it.

I don't know, I'm just rambling. Time to take a nap.

I actually think this season is too farfetched and twisted...

I loved David Palmer as president, but not Wayne so much.

And I think the family thing is FUCKED up and so out there it's insane.

First off, the dad looks NOTHING like Jack or Graham, and there's no way he could be their dad.

Graham and Jack could never be brothers.

And how can one brother be a hardcore terrorist and the other opposite, and the dad kills one of them and all that shit?

Too out there...

My mom said it PERFECTLY, when Jack busted in Graham's house last week, and had Marilyn and Josh escorted out, my mom said "with the way this show is lately, she'll end up being the bad guy"

And I thought, that's insane mom. But to be honest, it's not witht he way the show is lately. It's starting to get the point where everyone is a traitor and it's just SOOOO unrealistic. I LOOOVVEE every season, but this season has been weak so far IMO. I am not a fan of the family shit going on with Jack. I like how they are incorporating his family in it, but not this way.

I dono, just my thoughts.

joepsu0985

I dont think so. I mean this season has tied in Jack's brother and family with the last season, possibly even with the 4th season.

Its a TV show, family members dont have to look alike. Hell we dont even know the back story, they might be step brothers.

I think the terrorists are pretty accurately displayed on the show. Season four wasnt that great, and the villain wasn't that great, but he shared some ideas with some mainstream terrorist groups out there.

Also, I dont think Marilyn will be a problem. Something tells me that Josh is defiantly Jack's kid, and those two defiantly had an affair. I think you are judging the family story too soon. We barely scratched the surface. Its probably going to go much deeper this week. You know the writers of 24 build story lines up for a few weeks then end an hour with a big impacting scene that carries over to next week. With two hours tonight, I think this may be it.

I just finished up season 4 and half to say that I did not like it very much. Audrey drives me up the wall. Logan was a little bitch. The whole Tony and Michelle thing was played out for nothing. They die in day 5. How they took out the missile was lame. Really lame. Audrey once again, pisses me off. Driscoll was a total bitch.

The Good...

Chloe's character really developes.
As does Edgar's
Mandy coming back was good too. That answered my question as to who tried to assassinate Palmer at the end of Season 2. I missed season 2 so i didnt pick up on that the first time i watched season 4.

First of all, it was completely ridiculous how Fayed magically escaped. That is complete bullshit and would NEVER happen or come close to happening. Another thing that was really stupid, when they were following Darren McCarthy from the air, they would have had the local police on the ground and he would NOT have gotten away so damn easily. That was ridiculous.

This season is very disapointing so far. To me in previous seasons, they seem to think about these type of things and say "yeah guys this won't work because it's too farfetched". This season it seems like anything goes and it's all over the place.

I'm suprised that Jack being in America hasnt caused any more riffs in the plot - I mean, except for the last 8 hours, He was in China - getting tortured.

my biggest question is what did palmer do to get Jack out of China? This WILL come back, if not this season, then next.

Ahh, i dont wanna think about, thats the advantage of the DVD's, no need think, just put in next disc.

All I'm saying is that, if there is a mole at CTU this season, I will not watch the show anymore.

Writers: "What's better than Jack being blackmailed to kill the future president? Actually killing said president and making it look like Jack did it. What's better than that? Jack torturing another president. What's better than that? Killing another president, except this time, it'll be someone inside his admin."

Writers: "What's better than a nuclear bomb being diverted to the desert near LA? Setting off nuclear power plants near LA. What's better than that? Terrorists actually launching a nuclear bomb, but then the Air Force hitting it. What's better than that? FIVE nuclear bombs, one going off in an LA suburb."

Seriously... enough of the same tired story lines... I don't want to hear anything more about Russians, Arabs, nukes, presidents, or moles. Let's just take things in some other direction.

Dan

P.S. Yes, Season Three is my favorite... Couldn't you tell?

So I've been watching Season 3(basically the last 3 discs since 4PM however I went bowling for a few hours in between but aside from that...) and I'm on 11A-12P right now and I am in shock to how many times I've A. been in tears(everything with Michelle & Tony >> Jack having to shoot Chapelle >> etc) to B. had goosebumps all through out my arms to my legs and C. to how many times my breathe has been seriously taken in the fact that I did not expect nor could I believe the actions that were taken by the majority of the characters in this show... (2 seconds ago I thought Steven was going to let his daughter die in the 'Chandier Plaza:confused ' with the rest of the 800 people who are aleady in body bags at this point but he gave in for as far as I know right now) MY MIND IS BLOWN... I cannot even imagine how this season is going to end, and thank goodness I have Season 4 sitting right next to me(HA!) cause who knows (most of you probably do) know how Season3 is going to end. WOW...

just had to go off for a second or 4 cause it's just that exhilarating/sentimental/amazing... and in some ways I am glad I JUST started watching 24 right in the beginning of Season 5 cause I would be going nutso with anticipation (esp. Season 2's ending) cause I know David Palmer and Jack will be alive (now and in the beginnging of Season 5:lorraine )

Anywho... glad there's a place I can go off about this show.. haha....:o :o

P.S. I am so disturbed *was in Season 1 but evenso more now with Sherry Palmer. David is the best man that ever lived and for her to keep deceiving him and trying to get revenge on him when she was the greedy, selfish, ignorantly proud bitch that she is, I hope I get to see her get what she deserves either in the last hour and a half of this seaon or the next...

Hopefully I make some sense. HA!
As for this season... I am looking forward to finally going home to my rents house to watch last weeks 2 hour episode... unfortunately I work 7p to 11p but I'm pretty sure my Pops is gonna TiVo that for me as well....

Actually, I think that they were headed in a great direction during the first episode... Barring restrictions set in place by previous storylines (Jack being in China), it would have been awesome for Jack to be a part of a martial-law scenario (like "The Seige") during an intense, five-month assault on American cities. Not one big threat, but multiple threats. No nukes, just suicide bombers (like the real world).

Also, I don't think it would hurt the show to leave the president out of an entire season. Granted, presidents are keyed in to serious domestic terrorist situations, but I would like a closer look at CTU and a chance to avoid all the over-dramatization of a president being on screen (Russian terrorist treaty, assassinations, treason...). Let's just focus on CTU, maybe visit another CTU branch (anywhere, just please leave Los Angeles occasionally!).

Finally, moles are fine and have been a central theme in the suspense of the show throughout the years. In addition, I think that this season's inclusion of Jack's family in the "mole" scenario is a good angle. However, I think it would be a little cooler if there wasn't a mole in CTU every season. I would prefer the idea of someone trying to hack into CTU or to use a diplomatic cover to enter CTU physically, but it's simply unrealistic to think that we could have THIS many traitors working in top anti-terrorist organizations.

That's all for now, thanks for reading.

Yes this episode was what i was waiting for all season. It really does open up where it can go. Morris is becomming a replacement for Edgar in a sense that they are developing his character much in the same way. With Edgar his defining moment was in Day 4 where his mom died and he stopped those power plants from reacting. Morris, though is a former alky who made a device that could do some serious damage.
