:bounce :bounce for 24!
I like to read the info's for the upcoming episodes (I check the program info via DirecTV/Digital Cable) and there's a very interesting entry for next week's ep. (Not this upcoming one...)
SPOILER!!!!!!!
Something to the tune of, Jack realizes the connection between him and Stephen Saunders, a man presumed dead.
I've been trying to think who we know (maybe we don't even know them) who we assume is dead. Ramon's early-season comments of "see Jack, you and I are connected" make him a curious possibility, if he didn't go boom a few eps. ago :)

Tomorrow night I will have such a huge shit-eating smile when 9pm ticks in......

See - I had to scroll down to look though! I really hope it's not posted if it's a biggie. I could guess all day but I'd rather just watch on.
I missed the last 8 episodes of Season 2 when it originally aired as I had previous engagements at the pub, but I held off knowing anything until September last year when it came out on DVD and watched the whole thing in glorious Anamorphic Widescreen 5.1 Dolby.
I really don't want to know and I'm surprised Keifer would have given up spoilers on Leno. I guess he couldn't think of any funny Self-pleasuring Goat Stories. :)

Yep. The 24um. Because a handful of people on this board enjoy the most boring show on television. Well, at least one of the most boring, but it is the most boring show I've attempted to watch. Sorry. It really isn't THAT great. There are Scrubs fans on this board. Sticky that discussion topic. I love watching The Apprentice but no thread about it gets stickied either. Not even on the night of the show. But this topic is always there, day after day...

The latest series of 24 is a joke. As if the President would take all his advice from one guy, media advice and national security advice. Where are all his other key advisers? And to have Kim working at CTU is a joke. She was babysitting in the last series. The mole in CTU was a joke. In fact CTU is a joke.

How is it a joke that Kim is working at CTU. This season is set 3-4 years after first season. This would make her what, 19-20 years old. Not really a joke, obviously her father pulled strings to get her to work there but when you are Jack Bauer, the government pretty much lets you do anything you want.

TRYING HARD TO AVOID SPOILERS
Oh my God!!! Holy shit! That episode was beyond brilliant. So many different things that I really didn't think were going to happen happened!!!!
Go Michelle - you rock! I can't believe the hotel scenes - they were out of control. First Gael then the lady. The dude with the trash can.
President Palmer - I really thought he was going to be his usual self.
AMADOR - Man did that ever catch me off guard!!!!
Fantastic episode - I can safely say that was SO WELL WORTH THE WAIT.
There have been many parts of this season that I've been going "wow" but this episode really took the cake.
What will happen next!
Me after this episode > :D :D :D :D :D
THAT
was just a kick in the face from the greatest show ever to grace the screen, as if to say, "oh, did you forget about us the past month? Well that was just a little reminder not to do it again."
The hotel panic/outbreak scenes were some of the most intense, gutwrenching scenes I've ever seen. When Gael started bleeding I was in shock. The little season recap/future preview before the episode started got me so fired up, and I have no doubt that this season will continue to shock and raise the bar higher and higher for itself.
Episode 16 rating: 9.8/10

Excellent. Just excellent. 2 or 3 problems though...>
1) MICHELLE! Shoot him in the freaking leg FIRST. PR nightmare coming ladies and gents.
2) NO virus known to man, i don't care how you pump it up, could have a kill factor of less than an hour. The whole point of a virus would be to release it upon the general population, and jacking it up so that it takes about 2 weeks to start working. That way you've effected huge portion of the population and they didn't even know it. When will the terrorists learn?
3) small thing....the main bad guy...it's Jack's brother. Just take my word. They are twins. Kinda like Luke and Leia, but without the insestual overtones.
malonestar
03-30-2004, 11:38 PM

If they were brothers wouldn't Jack have recognized the voice?
Plus didn't the guy have an accent?
I agree with the "fast acting" virus is a dumb idea. If you're dead that quick you can't infect that many people. If they let the virus go now, anyone who slept through the night in the country would be fine and everyone else would be dead.
I though Michelle should have shot the guy just for being an annoying prick.

So what's the deal with showing us again that the President is taking some kind of pills?
If I remember correctly, right after one of the commercial breaks, when the screen is still devided into 4, one of them shows the President taking pills from a prescription bottle. I think this was before he talked to the Chief of Police.

When will the terrorists learn?Depends on what your goal is; if you only want to kill the vast majority of the population then the slower acting but highly contagious virus is what you want (a la Steven King's "the Stand"). If you want create massive terror to extract some sort of ransom or concessions then the fast actor fits the bill. The one on the show is airborne transmissible so it's more of a problem than say, Ebola, which burns itself out quickly.
I agree that a one-hour incubation is not (currently) feasible. Also, don't most hotels treat their HVAC systems with some sort of disinfectant as a result of Legionnaire's Disease? A bleach mist would probably do the trick as well.... (yeah I know, dramatic license)

That's the only fathomable explanation I have - however - in the Special Subcommittee book on Season 1, I believe they actually named all the soldiers who went on that mission with Jack, and I don't believe Saunders was one of them. So, since it's all I can think of, no doubt the writers will do something else and make it believable :)

NEWSDAY RAVES ABOUT THE FINAL EPISODES OF THE SEASON!
3/30/04
by Diane Werts
“Fans can relax now - which means get more tensed up - knowing that "24" has gone into the last third of the season overdrive. No more time fillers like the first two-thirds, no more presidential mistress and who's-the-baby's-daddy. Daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) is not (repeat: NOT) in distress. Next week's stunningly revelatory episode ties the current threat back into Jack's first-season nemesis, involves a foreign government, hints about a high- priced call girl ring and presents Jack with a truly unspeakable choice. No, really unspeakable. Really, really.
They jack up the stakes higher and higher, until by 7 a.m., things are truly nasty (truly, truly), and there's no end in sight. Guns blaze. Bombs explode. Bodies drop. Jack's jaw is more firmly set than ever. And Michelle's (Reiko Aylesworth) little curled hair strands still frame her face perfectly. Never mind that she's been up for 24 hours, she's running an ugly field operation, she's seen her husband shot and colleagues croak, and she's staring down death herself. For that matter, how's Jack holding up considering his own lack of sleep and, oh yeah, his smack addiction, remember that? When he countermands a superior "under the authority given me by the president of the United States," once again on that handy-dandy cell phone, how do his underlings even know Jack has that authority? And what about . . .

for instance, saunders called jack about 10 seconds after amador got toasted. he may have had his mole tracking jack from CTU. wheres adam been all this time? think about this too : in s1 gaines had a wicked tight plan. it worked (up until jack shot him in the chest) well because not only was he watching jack through the CTU security cams, but he had jamey there too. jamey would tell gaines all the stuff that was going on. maybe saunders has been reading gaines playbook. he sure looked like gaines with his earpiece on last night. i wouldnt doubt it if saunders was watching CTU from his hideout.

And what about . . .
Never mind. There's a mass suicide in the offing. A president ordering evil to be done. And a crucial computer download. Hey, don't these guys' amazingly informative forensic computers ever hit the fritz like miiiine dosss xxzghgcb?#!!

First season nemesis?!?! Who?? Wow...I've been reading posts by people who are "in the know" with the show, and everything I've read has been unanimous: The last eight episodes will absolutely shock you, and have been described as containing the biggest twist in television history. It really is starting to look like they're going to pull out all the stops, and I literally have chills thinking about it. I think we're in for an unfathomable ride.

So hard to speculate about. There are so many people it may or may not be and good arguments for both. With 24 I'd almost try and guess the most unlikely character it could be (molewise that is). But it could really be anyone from Michelle to Chappelle to Chloe to Kim to Tony..........I mean......?
Damn it's gonna be good though!
I'm sure Palmer summoning someone would require transportation by helicopter; wasn't the cheif already trying to get to see Palmer as well to ask him about Sheri - in which case he may already have been on his way.
Shit, everyone knows that hazmed teams are slow anyway. Would you really WANT TO get to an outbreak?
i hope they don't go with the 'mole' storyline again. they did it in season 1 and we thought they were doing it this season as well.

I have no doubt the remaning eight episodes will make us all stand up and applaud - then the DMB tour and new album should carry us through to September when season 3 somes out on DVD and then after we finishing watching that Season 4 should begin.

This Tuesday's episode are why I love this show so much.... Great Article in USA Today on Tuesday about the show as well.... get ready for the roller coaster!
From the USAtoday.com article:
"Happily, nothing we have seen so far has prepared us for the pleasures — or horrors — ahead over the next few weeks. As we jump back into the story, a vial of a fast-moving, deadly virus has exploded in a Los Angeles hotel. The virus could infect everyone inside, including Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth, who responds to her best plot with her best performance).
The government's response is to surround the hotel and issue shoot-to-kill orders for anyone trying to escape. The twist takes 24 to new levels of claustrophobic, all-encompassing panic while providing the show with yet another primal fear for the new millennium: Imagine a terrorist threat that turns you into a threat to your fellow citizens and makes your life expendable.
Unable to help at the hotel, Jack now must find the other 11 vials and figure out who is doing this and why. Without giving anything away, I can tell you that answers are on their way and that most of the more annoying subplots are, for the moment, wrapped up or pushed aside.
Oh, and for those who think the show has lost its ability to surprise, there's a twist coming that is as incredible and shattering as any the show has pulled.
Just in time, too."
-that is as incredible and shattering as any the show has pulled-
I told you. This season is going to just amaze. That's all I've been reading - that we have something in store for us that will jar us to the core. And I can't wait. I'm friggin excited.

Gael was showing signs pretty much 20 minutes after the explosion. Most of the people in the hotel weren't longer than that.
You say that as if Michelle is 100% infected. In all possibility she could survive, who the heck knows.
But they're stringing it out so you'll watch. Any time I hear anyone ask "when is the choppers going to be here", or "when will you have that information", or "when will the men be in position", I always look at my watch and dogone it, it's always sometimes in the next episode(s). This was a pretty stupid way of doing that.

Well look at the Mason situation - you hated that guy for a year and a half, and then they make you love him in his last few episodes. I doubt that we'll get the same treatment this year with Chappelle due to his over-the-top assholishness, but already I feel bad for him, despite it all.
The show does an amazing job of character development, even for a fast paced show that quite frankly, theoretically doesn't have the luxury of doing. But it does it anyway. For the newcomers to the show: be glad you caught on at all, and go back and catch the first two seasons. For the people here from the start: how lucky are we to have all of the background from the first 2 seasons? It makes it that much better, that much richer, to have the characters developed like they have.

I think Chappelle just does he job. He's not really an asshole, just job-minded.

Very well put. You learn to dislike certain characters and then all of a sudden they come around and next thing you know you start to feel for them. Chappelle just got done telling Tony to treat the situation as if Michelle was gone and then tells Tony to go ahead with the suicide pills. So, we think he's a good guy at heart, and then they hit us with the "Kill Chappelle" line and we suddenly feel bad for him. Just great.

When Chappele told Tony "Do It" I was extremely confused because evertytime Jack breaks protocol Chappele is up his ass about it. Now I understand, they're just trying to make it seem more important that he dies

Character development has been nothing shy of brilliant. Anyone getting on this ride should make a serious effort to watch Season 1 then Season 2. Both equally as good and both having a fantastic opening episode with a thrilling last 8-9hours of balls to the wall, ass on the edge excitement.
RE: Chappelle - I don't necessarily feel sorry for him. I did feel for George but that was more to do with the situation he was in and the scene with his son, which was very moving.
Chappelle may not perish in one hour. Another vial may be released inside another contained environment. Who knows?
PS - If you do know - go somewhere else and post. No more spoilers this season please. It made the scene where Chappelle was telling Tony to act as if Michelle's already dead make me think "is Tony going to shoot the fucker right now?"
Sort of ruined the scene a little bit - and Saunders line at the end of killing Chappelle lost some of it's effect. BUT NOT ALL ;)
Ah.....NHL playoffs. Thank God for something on the television that will expedite the gap between episodes of 24!

Amazing episode, yet again. Saunders' lines are becoming some of the greatest the series has ever seen.
"Good - and I don't negotiate with heads of state so just do as I say"
that was the best quote of the series so far!! I was laughing and clapping for 2 minutes after that one!:lol :lol

Man oh man.
Jack doesn't do so well with his bosses, does he? His boss (the guy with the mustache) gets whacked in the first season. What was his name again? Then Mason, now Chappelle's in trouble. :lol

Thank you. :)
I was thinking back to the House Committee book we were talking about earlier. It had a list of all the people in the task force in Kosovo, but Saunders wasn't on it. Do you think he was left off because he was "on loan" from the British military, therefore, not an American soldier?
I would assume so, Tom. I just hope they don't leave the cliffhanger of season 2 hanging, so to speak.

Are you even watching this show you fucking tool? It took 1 hour 56 minutes for Gael to go from healthy to a guerney.
If you can't join a decent discussion without engaging in passive aggressive gay-bashing then just fuck off you stupid fucking cunt.

Just leave the gay-bashing alone okay? It's not a joke no matter how you use it. All 17 of your posts have been in this forum so no-one is questioning whether or not you are a 24 fan, despite your conceited admittance of being a perambulating 24 encyclopaedia. Just leave it out, intended joke or not. Okay?

Nice job fixing your avatar!
Unrelated:
Started watching The Sopranos a few weeks ago. Just finished the 5th episode of season 1. Kind of weird to watch an actor you're only familiar with through their portrayal of one character. Paul Schulze, a.k.a. Ryan Chappelle, plays Father Phillip Intintola. Really enjoying it so far.
Watched "After Alice" as well starring Keifer Sutherland. Not bad considering it was in Walmart for only CDN$6.88, doesn't hold a candle to 24 though. This weeks episode; I can barely contain my anticipation.

A few times in this thread I've mentioned the Sopranos/24 connection. Peter Kingsley, last year's villain, was in the sopranos for an episode, Mikey Palmice from the sopranos S1 was in S2 of 24 briefly. There are a couple others but I'm on my way out the door.

no, i wish they'd just remove Sherri from the script. I'm so glad Nina was offed...that way I don't have to look at her or listen to her anymore...it was stupid how she just kept "popping up" every few years.
