Beginner Questions (Guitar)

I've finally decided to try and learn how to play guitar. But first I need to buy one. I was planning on just going to Guitar Central or whatever that place is called and seeing what the salesman said. I want an electric and I don't want to pay a lot. Do they sell used guitars there? Also can I hook it up to my computer without buying an amp? Please tell me anything that could be useful in this process because I am pretty clueless. Thanks

get a Mexican Fender Telecaster or Stratocaster, or get maybe an Epiphone Les Paul or SG.

My roomate in the dorm wanted to record some lick that I was playing one night. In a strange way, he plugged my guitar into my mini-amp, took the headphone line out of the mini-amp into his computer.

Werked fine and sounded good. Give it a try if you're at a loss.
