Congratulations to Jim Calhoun who last night became a member of the 700 win club.
He's playing rival and good friend Jim Boeheim Saturday who by winning last Sat also has 700 wins. After last night’s game they played a video message from Jim Boeheim, who said Calhoun has produced one of the greatest building jobs in the history of college basketball and closed with “We’ll see you Saturday”
To which Calhoun replied “I wouldn’t have it any other way”
Oh yeah, they are both 20 and 20 against each other and UConn is playing for at least of a piece of the Big East regular season championship
This should be good :)

they shot more free throws in the first half then Tech did all game.
that was a terribly officiated game. there's no reason one team should attempt 46 free throws while the visitors attempt only 17. seven point win with 29 more free throw attempts? good game guys, good game..........:rolleyes

2) Or how about turning down... whats he up to with shoes/the team/other promotions? $205 million?

He is smart to play college basketball, both his parents are doctors and I am sure they wanted him to go to college and get a degree. You never know if you are going to get hurt in the NBA. He is a good guy and has a good family.
He is a really good player and staying with the cats and a great coach such as tubby will help him develop even more into a better player.

college basketball joke of the day, in the spirit of Duke @ UNC this weekend......
Duke-Carolina Collision
There's a guy from UNC driving from Chapel Hill to Durham, and a guy
from Duke driving from Durham to Chapel Hill. In the middle of the night,
with no other cars around, they hit each other head on. The Dukie
manages to climb out of his car and survey the damage. He looks at his
twisted car and says, "Man, I am really lucky to be alive!" Likewise, the
Tar Heel scrambles out of his car and looks at his wreckage. He too says,
"I can't believe I survived this wreck!" The UNC guy walks over to the
Duke guy and says, "Hey man, I think this is a sign that we should put
aside our petty differences and live as friends instead of arch rivals." The
Duke guy thinks for a moment and says, "You know, you're absolutely
right! We should be friends. We should celebrate." So the Duke guy pops
open his trunk and finds a full, unopened bottle of Jack Daniels. He says to
the Tar Heel guy, "Let us toast to our newfound understanding and
friendship." The Tar Heel says, "You're right!" And he grabs the bottle and
starts sucking down Jack Daniels. After putting away nearly half the bottle,
the Tar Heel hands it back to the Dukie and says, "Your turn! The Duke
guy twists the cap back on the bottle and says,
"Nahh, I think I'll wait for the cops to show up."

would you have turned it down if you had his circumstances? being poor, from the ghetto, with nothing to your name your whole life and being given the opportunity to change that forever with one move isn't easy to pass up. you can always go to school later if you need to, but you can't go to the NBA if you blow out your knee.

i'd take my chances playing college ball, just me personally. let's be honest, kenyon martin blew out his knee (i think it was his knee) and look at him now. lebron would get to the nba regardless, just depends on what you need most. he would of had full scholarships, etc. like i said just depends on your priorities

it's a rivalry game. when one team sucks and the other is a national power every year, it turns into the shitty teams National Championship. period.
the KU/Mizzou football game isn't a good comparison being that Mizzou isn't even a conference champ, nevermind a national power. the last time they won anything was when they were Big 8 co-champs in 1969. hardly a feather in the cap beating a team of that magnitude......:)

Whatever you say. If we beat you, yes that will be quite a feat. But it by no means will be anything comperable to a NC. If we hang a hundred on you and beat you by double figures this season is still a loss, it will not even be acceptable this year to say "well it's ok at least we beat kU". As for the football comments, you would never guess that living anywhere within 300 miles Lawrence. Last time we lost in larry the goalposts came down etc etc etc(same thing happens in COMO, I know). And beating anyone is a feather in the cap of MU or KU football teams but hey we got Pinkle and you got the fatman so everythings rosey in Columbia and Lawrence this fall...right:rolleyes

03 was the best season that we have had since atleast the '98 season. Last season we nose dived, but we can't really afford to fire a coach after one bad season, Mizzou dosnt exactly have the national appeal the OU has, hell look at whats goin on in Lincoln, they fire Solich after what a 9-3 season and look at where they are now. With the exception of last season we have been on the rist every season he has been here.

I thought there was no North and South divisions in college hoops.
There are. KU gets to play the weak sisters (Missouri, KState, Iowa St, Colorado, Nebraska) in the North twice and the teams in the South (OU, OSU, Texas, Texas Tech) once. Where as, OU, OSU, Texas Tech, Texas all have to play eachother home and away. KU has a big advantage in the conference race because of this setup.

this is true now, but it runs in cycles. there was a time when the north was better. KU, Iowa St., Mizzou, and Colorado have all been good at some point over the last ten years. right now it's definately in KU's favor overall in the conference though.

yeah, you play everyone in your division twice, and play everyone in the other division once, alternating home/away every year giving you 16 conference games. they keep the standings as one to make seedings for the conference tourney more structured.

It does look lopsided for basketball, but as a fan I'd rather see Carolina play Duke, State, Maryland and Wake twice a year than have it any other way. The schedule would result in a couple more losses for each team, but there would be so many great basketball games.

If they have the two division winners in football play in a championship game like the Big 12 and SEC, you would have to have FSU and Miami in seperate divisions if they were to ever play in the ACC championship game, but have them in the same division in hoops because of proximity. Just a guess.

Granted they played shithouse Purdue last night, but watching that game... they could have beaten pretty much anyone in the country. If the Illini are hitting thier shots like that, there's little anybody can do against them. The true test will come when they are down 8 like at Michigan, except not against a crap Michigan D.

Yeah that the word... here's the thing though, his shooting can't get much better than it is, his stock just isnt as high as Deron's because scouts havent seen him run the team on a full-time basis....which obviously he's gonna have to do on the next level. My thoughts, they either both stay or both go... it wont be one or the other type thing. If they make it to the Final Four, see ya. :thumbsdow

you know I was thinking the other day....completely random, but as far as 2nd round goes, its much better to be the 2 seed. Get this, the No 1 has to play either 8 or 9 in the second round, usually dangerous teams that barley get in with nothing to lose. The 2 seed has to play the winner of 7-10 game, which we all know in most years the 10 seed upsets the 7 pretty much 75% of the time. The 2 seed has a 3/4 chance to play a lower seed in the 2nd round, and usually an under-manned mid major conference winner as opposed to a powerhouse with a medoicre year

what really fucked things up was Mizzou going all the way to the Elite 8. you can normally overcome an early upset as long as you had that team losing in the next round or so. the ones that kill, are your final four teams getting knocked out on the first weekend. i always hedge my picks a little, if i pick a big upset i have that team losing in the next round so if it doesn't happen it doesn't hurt to much.

What sucked so bad about 88' was the KU had 11 losses and was even questionable as a tournament team. Oklahoma had already beaten them twice that season and had just beaten the second best team in the country (Arizona - Sean Elliot, Steve Kerr, Judd Buschler) in the semifinals. If that Final Four had been played anywhere else in the world besides Kansas City, KU probably doesn't win it. There is no question about Illinois being one of the top teams in the country and a national title contender. You could not say that about the 88' KU team going into the tournament.

Nothing personal with this. It's been almost 18 years, but I'm still bitter about it. It was a tough four months. First OU loses the national championship to Miami on Miami's home field at the Orange Bowl, then four months later OU loses the national championship to Kansas at Kemper. It didn't help playing at Kemper but I think the real reason OU lost that game was because Billy Tubbs ran his team down. They were bushed at the end of that game and Billy had 4 juco All Americans sitting on the bench that hardly played. Still hard to understand how a team with 3 lottery picks (Stacy King, Mookie Blaylock, Harvey Grant) could have lost that game.

they had to play a perfect game, and their star player had to dominate. both happened. had they played that game nine more times at Kemper, OU probably wins all nine. just like if 'Nova and Georgetown had played nine more times, the Hoyas probably win all nine. that's the beauty of single elimination, it only takes once. trust me though, i feel your pain. We took a beating on the OU boards during and after that game. Fans from every other school in the country came by to rip us. It's like I told them then, Sure it sucks and hurts like hell to lose a championship, but I'd rather be runner up 100 years in a row then never get to play for a championship at all like most of them.

well, i'm a KC Royals fan so i usually take the summer off from sports unless it's a World Cup year. If the Chiefs get these defensive free agents i'm hearing about, the NFL should be a little more tolerable for me this season. Have you ever seen a team that bad be so fun to watch?
I feel your pain. I'm a Royals fan too. Never got on board with the Chiefs though. You like all the Kansas teams. This may be a stupid question, but where are you originally from?

:thumbsup like all the people who talk about Kansas choking in the Final Four year after year. I'd rather go every year, know that my team is going to be good every year, and not win it than have that one fluke season where you're good, get lucky in the tournament and go back to being a crappy program.

Kansas. i'm a military brat so i've been moving around since i was 3 months old. I picked up the teams that my dad and cousins all liked when i was little and became die hard. I'm not the type to change my favorite team every time i move somewhere. the only thing i haven't had since i've been watching is a Chiefs superbowl. not including the Kings, when they moved to Sacramento i stopped following the NBA. now i just watch teams with KU players on them.
