Hola all. I'm back after a week off, and I would like to know why there is discussion about KU and the like when tomorrow we have the second half of the greatest college rivalry ever tipping off? Could we PLEASE talk about Duke at UNC now?

Kansas. i'm a military brat so i've been moving around since i was 3 months old. I picked up the teams that my dad and cousins all liked when i was little and became die hard. I'm not the type to change my favorite team every time i move somewhere. the only thing i haven't had since i've been watching is a Chiefs superbowl. not including the Kings, when they moved to Sacramento i stopped following the NBA. now i just watch teams with KU players on them.

My Dad grew up in Hutchinson and I was born there, but we moved to Oklahoma when I was 3 years old before I ever had a chance to become a KU fan. My Dad was a KU fan but he never pushed KU on us so me and my brothers naturally became OU fans. I'm a 49er fan and Laker fan. I know, I sound like a front runner. They were the best teams growing up so that's who I went with. I was a huge Magic Johnson fan and loved Jerry Rice and Ronnie Lott. I'm a die hard though. 49ers are the worst team in the league now, but I still love them. I went to several Royals games growing up and became a huge George Brett fan. My Dad took me to one Kings game in KC when I was younger against the Utah Jazz, but I never became a fan.

True. We'll see which disabled Duke team shows up. A team that plays like all of their schools history is on the line or a team that is tired, beat up, and just looking to get to the post season. I'm not downing my team, but if I were on a team that has been through everything they've been through I would be physically and mentally done.

You didn't get me worked up. I could really care less about KU-MU unless OU wins tonight :D . You are right on about Duke-UNC being the highlight of the weekend. I kind of wish it wasn't so late in the season though. I know they were hoping for the ACC title to be on the line, but I wish it was played a week or two ago when both teams still had a shot at it. Would make for more drama.

Somebody said that Rashad went through a shooting workout the other day. He sat there in street clothes, we're talking and guys are stretching, and he shot six shots or something like that. Woody had to ask me about that if he went through shooting practice. When we have a shooting practice, at the end of it, everybody is sweating. He sweated about as much as Humpty Dumbty out there. It's amazing how these words get out. He has not had a shooting workout. He has not had a rebounding workout or a ball handling workout. The biggest workout was he thought he was late at pre-game yesterday and he ran from outside the Alumni Center to the inside and I thought we were going to have to get him some oxygen. He has not worked out. We have to wait until the doctors say he can do it, and until he says he can do it. I promise you, I promise as soon as they tell me that I'll tell you guys. I might even hire an airplane to fly around the Smith Center, Rashad is going to practice today."

we knew he wasn't going to play last week. duke's still got a shorter bench then UNC, the only thing unc's loses is mccant's attitude and like 18 points. if williams can produce and scott doesn't turn the ball over we're in good shape

I will say this and then I am done. We played at 75% today. I didn't see the focus and attack that I was used to. Our guards never lit it up as they usually do. But I will also say this, there is no way that the refs can swallow their whistles in the last 1:30 like they did. My god!!! Augustine got hacked more times than he got rebounds during that one possession. And Powell got crushed by 2 white jerseys when he got the ball on the post with under 30 seconds. That kind of crap can't happen when any team is on the court, let alone the #1 team. That being said, I was worried about this OSU game for about the last month or so. We certainly didn't play the game we usually played (we played down to OSU), but the refs certainly didn't help things at the end, though.

Either way, we still have at least a 2-game lead in the loss column on all of you and now you can all shut it about needing that one loss before the tourney. :D

Julie - Calm down. People in this thread probably know more about your team than you're willing to admit. UK (not ky) has been over rated all season and you should know that. it doesn't mean that they aren't good, but they have been ranked where they are simply for being at the top of the weakest major conference in the country.

I guess one 3-minute stretch overshadows the 29 other games. Remember OSU led for only 5.1 seconds, granted they were the only seconds that mattered. But to say we are lumped with KU and UK, is a bit harsh.

There was no reason to lose to Santa Clara, with or without Felton. Teams don't get mulligans, but teams should't be judged by any single game. They should be judged by what they have done over a season, which is why Illinois should remain number one.

the NC State / Wake game is on here right now. Chris Paul punched Julius Hodge in the nuts, knocking him to the floor and forcing him to the locker room. It was under the basket with the ball going down the court so the refs missed it. pretty much a consensus by the announcers that it will be reviewed and will be an automatic one game suspension for a thrown punch. he's not kicked out of the game because no foul was called originally and the refs can't review a punch on the monitor if no foul was called. they can only review severity if their was an initial whistle.

There is no conference that comes anywhere near matching UNC, Wake, and Duke. If you look at the Big East they would lose all three games.

the NC State / Wake game is on here right now. Chris Paul punched Julius Hodge in the nuts, knocking him to the floor and forcing him to the locker room. It was under the basket with the ball going down the court so the refs missed it. pretty much a consensus by the announcers that it will be reviewed and will be an automatic one game suspension for a thrown punch. he's not kicked out of the game because no foul was called originally and the refs can't review a punch on the monitor if no foul was called. they can only review severity if their was an initial whistle.

I disagree and think Illinios would be the only team to win. Anywho, in your previous post you seemed to indicate that you think a conference can be judged by its top three teams, but then called the ACC overrated in a different post. The ACC has the best teams at the top, and a bunch of roller coaster teams in the middle. teams that can beat and be beat by anyone on a given night. I think the Big East has more "safe" picks in the tournament, but the ACC has more "locks". hope that makes sense......

I agree. The motivation behind that post was to call that guy out for judging conferences on their top 3 teams and then calling the ACC overrated.
