This is better than christmas eve. We have no idea what's going to happen, as with christmas you're gonna get good stuff, bad stuff, and get drunk. Maybe this is Duke's year? Coach K has already done an amazing job without having all his players available pretty much all season, and now no one thinks they can go all the way. Wouldn't this be exactly the perfect situation for him to take this kind of team to another FF? I heard VT's coach on the radio the other night, and he made a really good point about the Devils; they play to win at all times, they never play to not lose. No offense to UNC fans, but what I thought of was UNC not getting a shot off in 18 seconds looking for "the" shot at Cameron, as Duke got three shots off in 17 seconds in the game at Chapel Hill.

I agree that it was a lateral move from KU to UNC. In my opinion, KU takes a back seat to no college basketball program. I'm sure it wasn't as bad as your situation, but the Florida fans really pissed me off when they were after Bob Stoops. All they could talk about was that Florida's program was so much better then OU's and that it was a no brainer for Stoops to go there. Also, what pisses me off is that they keep coming back. One time is fine, but leave him alone after that. Same deal with UNC and Roy. That had to make KU fans mad that he said no once and UNC came back again.

I know this is a basketball thread, but today was a sad day for me. I signed a lease for an apartment in Tulsa and will be leaving the promised land (Norman) after a 6 1/2 year stay. Growing up I dreamed of playing football on Owen Field and since I couldn't do that the next best thing was getting a degree from OU. I was extremely fortunate to be able to witness the rebirth of OU football and experience the national championship season in person. Also, lucky to be part of a Final 4 season. If feels good to be moving on, yet also sad :(

I applaud Weber and what he did to get the Self recruits to buy in to his system. Self flat out lied to those kids. Weber had to let them know that Self was gone. If having a funeral for "coach Self" did the trick (which it did) then I'm okay with that. After the backstabbing and bullshit Self spouted when he left Illinois, it's a wonder the Illini had such a wonderful season less than 2 years after Self turned his back on the program he was going to build.

:lol me too. i keep one of the two page fold out brackets from monday mornings tournament section in the newspaper to use as my "master" bracket with the correct picks. i have all my brackets printed out and in a folder, along with a yellow highlighter and a red pen to mark them. this is BETTER than Christmas to me. all the excitement without spending the money. it's great.

do you have digital cable? it's not a package that you buy, it's just shown on the extra CBS channels that are usually in the 200's. the stations that usually have 24 hour local weather, news, and shows that are preempted for sporting events, etc. during the tourney all of those channels show different games every day. check your guide and surf to the upper channels, you may be suprised. it's really not advertised here, we just kind of stumbled upon it a while back.

ahh, the joys of going to school in north carolina. when the tourney is on, everything else stops. all through high school, every classroom had a tv in it just to get kids to show up during the tournaments. come to class and watch basketball.

no shit... how does a star athlete become academically inelligible... my cousin played baseball for Texas and when the players would have grade problems, they would put them in the cake class taught by a fucking trainer or something, and the teacher told them the first day that hey... show up once a week and you get an A.

It's ridiculous that with all the resources available to student athletes at schools like Texas that players can't stay eligible. What gets me is that not only is it bad for the player himself, but it's an extremely selfish act when you consider the coaches and his teammates, and then you see the guy for the rest of the season sitting on the bench in street clothes. If I was his teammates I'd tell him to get lost for the rest of the season and come back when he wants to be a member of the team.
