it's almost time for basketball to end :(

This is that strange time of year that is my most and least favorite time of the year. It's exciting to finally crown a champion, but then it's all over. I guess we'll sit around and wait for Midnight Madness. Of which I will REALLY be looking foward to next seaon. Between JJ being a senior and the recruiting class Duke should make a spectacular showing (I pray that the NBA will leave the recruiting class alone).

Good luck to all left. This should be a fantastic two days of basketball. Although it's going to be hard to live up to last weekends games.

This offseason could be absolute hell for Carolina fans. May has said he is staying, but we'll lose Jawad, Scott, and Manuel for sure and possibly Felton, McCants, and Marvin.

You Duke fans should be feeling real good about Josh McRoberts. He looked like an absolute stud last night.

Quit your whining. 2 of our starters are seniors (Head & Powell), Williams and Brown are likely to jump as juniors. If that happens, then Augustine will probably go with them. Our 6th man (Ingrahm) is also a senior. We're in serious trouble if Williams and Brown go (which is very likely).

You're right. Paulus will be very good and its pretty much the prototypical Duke player, reminds me a lot of Bobby Hurley. As good as he could/will be McRoberts is the gem of Duke's recruiting class.

I agree. I just don't want anyone to forget about the kid from CBA Syracuse.

I'm still really upset that he didn't get recruited more heavily by Syracuse. He had the opportunity to be a two sport star here. We need another shooter and he can certainly do that. And with Bruce Williams and Lavar Lobdell playing with him in football like in high school we would have been great. No more terrible offense plagued by turnovers and unpreparedness.

The class looked pretty good, but the talent level in last night's game didn't seem as high as last year. That's understandable though, because 8 (I think 8 at least) of last year's players were drafted in the first round and many are making a solid impact at the next level.

Win or lose there will be no complaining from this Carolina fan Saturday and Monday. I know at this point in the season the team that wins the national championship will have earned it because any team in the Final Four is capable of beating the other three. The team that cuts down the nets on Monday will have deserved it.

Actually, believe it or not, we're 2nd over the last six years to only that school in Durham in total D1 wins.

Augie stays, Dee 60/40 stays (only projected as 2nd rounder as he's undersized), Deron's a lottery pick so he's gone. We'll probably fall back into the 20-10 range for a year, unless we sign some ultra-blue chipper with our last 2005 scholly. There's some really bad teams at the bottom of the B10, though.

I'm trying to be nice since these folks like DMB. The fools that showed up at Illiniboard and talked smack, on the other hand, got what they deserved. We've been hearing it all year and have sent them all but one packing (and we even pounded them once). Hope it continues.

i haven't heard that. i looked on espn.com and it wasn't there either. probably an april fool's joke, i looked on a couple of betting websites and the line hasn't moved and the betting is still open. if there was any doubt that two players weren't going to be at full strength they normally take the game off the line and freeze betting until their status becomes certain.

tarheels got a nice class. though it seems that Roy is gambling that Ray-Ray is coming back next year. he may not be the best player on that team, but he is definately the most important. the santa clara game and the last three minutes against 'Nova after he fouled out proved that. if he's back, UNC will have another 2-4 loss season. without him, probably closer to 8-10.

Whether or not Quentin Thomas will be able to hand UNC when Felton is gone, either next year or two years from now, is an enigma. He's been turnover prone at times this year, but hopefully he'll peform better next year with a year under his belt and learning from Felton. I've also heard that Frasor might make the move to point at some time in his career.

The only way I could see someone else #1 is if the Bobcats get the pick and draft Paul.

May knows what he's doing. If he puts together a season next year like he did the second half this year he'll be first-team All-American and possibly POY. I'd see him being looked at a lot like Elton Brand coming out of college then.

I'm really expecting great things from Frasor and Hansbrough.

Hansbrough absolutely... Frasor I'm not so sure, and I've seen a couple of his HS games. Good player, but not otherworldly impressive like a lot of guys that go to UNC. Was surprised they were that interested in him. Some local recruiting gurus agree.

Honestly, as much talent as UNC gets, I can't see him being much more than a useful reserve for you guys...

not nearly as hard as it must be to spell the word spell. my god you should learn how to type.

back to the issue at hand....... Chris Paul is overrated. he was pre-season player of the year in the ACC even though the player of the year from last season was coming back for his senior year. every once in awhile the media latches on to someone that they think is the future and build him up. sometimes they live up to the hype, sometimes they don't. Chris Paul didn't. he put up very average statistics all season long and found himself fouled out, suspended, or completely ineffective at the end of key games all season long. you go to Wake, he plays at Wake. i get it. he's still overrated.

Does no one own a VCR or something? I mean Christ I know they're becoming a bit antiquated but come on.

Or just go download 24 on bittorrent. For one thing 24 isn't any good anyway, so at least we have some good TV monday night (the best sporting event there is)

i think the tournament as a whole is the best sporting event there is, but the championship game itself is a bit anticlimatic after three weeks of madness.

Generally I agree with you, but this year seems to be different to me and I think it is because UNC has returned to elite status and I haven't had the feeling of any sort of a tournament run in three years. I cannot wait for the game tomorrow, hopefully it is not a let down.

You and 3 or 4 Carolina regulars in this thread. I really love that quote that Dean Smith told Roy right after winning his first national championship in 1982. Something along the lines of "I'm not a better coach now than I was 2 1/2 hours ago."

i saw it. i knew what you meant, i was just clarifying my position. i know as well as anybody how sensitive one can get during the final four. if your team is one of the four left and is a favorite to win on top of that, it feels like the whole world is against you for no good reason. people hating your team is a sign of respect. as Barry Bonds says, "no one boo's you if you suck." good luck tomorrow night.

it's not their year until they win the game. there have been many times in the past where the team that seemed destined to win it all got beat in the tournament. you could just as easily make a case for it being UNC's year if you wanted to.

Dang, so bitter. I just don't understand the hard feelings KU fans have for Roy. At that time I'm sure he was being very honest and didn't give a shit about Carolina. Roy busted his ass for KU and loved KU. If Bob Stoops gave everything he had to OU for ten to fifteen years and then wanted to go back to his alma matter Iowa, then so be it.

not bitter, i just think it's funny. just as Illinois fans think it's funny that Bill Self said that he'd stay in Illinois for awhile then bolted when he was offered the KU job. How would you have felt if Bob Stoops had gave everything he had then gone to Florida? as i've said many times, i understand why Roy left but that doesn't mean i have to be happy about it. Dean Smith and Adolph Rupp both went to Kansas but never felt the need to "go back to their alma matter."

That's why the only school I listed for Stoops was Iowa. Florida or any other school besides Iowa I would be pissed. Is it that KU fans fill slighted? Roy didn't leave KU because he thought UNC was a better job. That's what got me so pissed about Florida. Everyone kept saying Florida was a better job then Oklahoma. If Stoops left for any other job then Iowa, that would be the case, he would think it was a better job. If he left for Iowa, we know that's not the case. It would be for personal happiness. Roy didn't leave for a better job, he left for personal happiness. That's not so bad. Hope this makes sense.
