Syracuse University has set an NCAA single-game attendance record two of the last three seasons. It appears the Carrier Dome will set yet another mark this season.
With more than 30,000 already sold for the regular-season finale against Villanova on March 5, the record is well within reach. And with momentum building for lone senior Gerry McNamara's final appearance in the Dome and for a matchup against Final Four-contender Villanova, it seems only a Central New York snowstorm could keep a record-setting crowd away.

Yeah, I can't wait. That's my favorite game of the year. Most OU fans have OSU and Texas as their top games, but I've always loved the Kansas game. Kansas is the measuring stick. I can't remember the last time we won in Lawrence. Do Kansas fans think anything of OU or ever consider it a big game?
Edit: Favorite OU game of the year. Nothing beats Duke-UNC.

other than Mizzou, it's probably the biggest game on the schedule.
ever since the '88 National Title game, there has been no love loss between those two teams. makes for some great basktetball. this year the game may actually mean something other than seeding for the Big XII tourney. it may be the "quality win" KU needs for their tournament resume.

That's surprising to hear. I always considered Kansas a rival in hoops, but wasn't sure if KU fans did. If we win we probably won't get any quality win points since KU is down unless they make a good run to end the season, but to me it would be a huge win, especially being on the road. One of my favorites was the 2002 game. The year we both went to the Final Four. I think both teams were ranked in the top 5 at Lawrence we were down 20 and came back to cut it to six and Ebe Era missed good looking 3 pointer that would have cut it to 3 with like six minutes to go and then we could never get any closer. That's when I really started to believe that we had something that year.

I read something about a year ago on an OU board, but blew it off thinking it was just a bunch of garbage. But someone was saying that after the '88 game there was a big blow up between some of the OU players on the team bus after the game with some accusing others of throwing the game. They said there was a lot of finger pointing at Ricky Grace who was the point guard on that team. I'm sure it was made up, but I still can't see how we lost that game. OU fans to this day still can't get over that loss. I know it makes me sick every time I think about it.

Danny Manning beat OU by himelf. that's just one of those games, if you get enough looks at a team from your own conference, you're bound to figure out a way to get it done. 'Nova in 85 over Georgetown, KU in 88 over Oklahoma, etc..
sucked for Oklahoma because they were clearly the better team that year. they just ran into a great player on a great night playing in his own backyard. shit happens.

Yep, I think some OU fans still can't come to grips with it and are still looking for ways to justify it.
Edit: I think what makes it so much tougher is that we have never won a national title in basketball. Sure it sucks to lose any championship game, but in football at least we can still fall back on the seven we've won. Hoops we got nothin'.

It doesn’t get any easier for you guys does it?
I think Coach Boeheim has a legitimate gripe about your schedule. There are not too many easy games this year in the Big East, but looking at the rest of your games you don’t get to catch much of a breath between some pretty tough teams.
Just remember, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger :rolleyes
Good luck !

Scheduling this year has been a bitch. And while I hate how we haven't caught a break in our scheduling, it's inexcusable to be unable to pick up wins against top 10 teams, particularly when we want to be considered an elite program.

i'm hoping that KU can sneak in as an 8 or 9 seed and draw Duke in the second round. then i'll drive down the interstate two hours to Greensboro and watch the game at Cameron Indoor Stadium Vol. 2. Duke would be favored big, but that would be a tough draw in the second round.

Tough game against KU last night. It should of been a hell of a lot closer. You can't let the other team go on a 16-0 run to start the second half. KU went to the line I think 44 times and probably made close to 30-35 of them. A&M was horrible at the line and let the game get away first 5 min of the second half. They also couldn't do jack against the zone defense KU started using midway into the 2nd half.
Anyways, KU has some big time athletes. That group of young guys is going to be something to watch. People may be down on Self right now, but just wait and see. They are going to be real, real good.

it's capacity for basketball games is 9,314. when the idea to build was first proposed, 4,000 was the number they had in mind. that number jumped, then Cameron underwent a renovation in the '80's that allowed for more seating.

We were first in line for standing room only tickets. We bought two and went in and I looked closer at the tickets and I noticed they were tickets for actual seats. I guess they had a few available. They were in S4 row L which is on the end, but there's really no bad seats. We were just a few rows up from where the Gameday crew was and they were facing our direction, so we could see Reece, Dukie V, Jay, and Dicker plain as day as they were on the air. Since we got seats we were able to get the free tshirts, which was a bonus. Got to love free stuff. Showing up an hour before tickets went on sale paid off.

So do we even make 20 wins this season? The games that we have remaining:
2/01 Rutgers
2/08 @ Connecticut
2/12 @ St. John's
2/15 Cincinnati
2/18 Louisville
2/20 West Virginia
2/25 @ Georgetown
3/02 @ DePaul
3/05 Villanova
We are not going to beat UConn, West Virginia or Villanova. That means we have to win all of our other games, and Rutgers, St. John's, and Georgetown are going to be pretty tough on their own.

Syracuse's current four-game losing streak is just the third in Boeheim's 30-year tenure. The Orange also lost four in a row in both the 1991-92 and 2001-02 seasons.
In 2001-2002 we went to the NIT.
In 1991-1992 we were a #6 seed in the NCAA and lost in the second round.
Right now we need to find our offense or we are going to end up just like the 2001-2002 team.

KU can lose to Texas, OU, and one other team and still finish with a 20 win season. not bad considering what they were staring at two weeks ago.

i'm not sure that it will. i think we're going to learn that they're two pretty evenly matched teams that can beat each other on any given night. i miss the old Big 8, when we got to play a home and home series every year. these super conferences are really doing a lot to fuck up rivalries.

i love the big east the way it is....competitive basketball at its best. and about the tourney and cinderella stories...theres still 12 teams in the big east tourney which is good because you have to earn your way to the tourney during conference play. i think anywhere from a 10-12 seed in the big east would still be cinderella...and no, its not good for SU this year, but every team has an off year

It doesnt help they got hit with one of the hardest runs in college basketball. They had what 3 straight games against ranked opponents in the top 10 that were televised. That's all anyone cares about these days televising and making money not worried about the game. But thats not to say that SU played like shit. They wouldve lost against anyone going down 10 or 12 to nothing against any opponent
