i was kidding too. but i think KU would put up a better fight than most Dukies would care to admit...
They would definitely put up a fight. I think that in one of these games in the conference tourney... JJ will catch fire again. When that happens... and the rest of the squad keeps performing, we will be right back up to where we were.

You know... I'm not so sure Seton Hall is going to make the tourney. Look at some of their losses... @Duke (which wouldn't hurt if it weren't by 53 points), @Richmond, vs. Northwestern, @Rutgers, vs. Notre Dame, @St. John's, @DePaul, and vs. Rutgers again. Those are pretty bad. Their only quality wins are @NC State, @Syracuse, vs. West Virginia, and @Pittsburgh, plus they're 3-5 in their last eight games. I'd be pretty worried if I were them.

Here is the call for the game from a family friend of ours:
welcome old & NEW subscribers....i guess" success breeds success " , i'm not talking about the uconn huskies.( i'm certainly NOT talking about our"beloved" orangemen(yeah right!). i'm talking about "the squidman".earlier in the year i was lucky If people even read my articles .... now i'm getting requests for subscriptions and i am asked when i'll be sending out the prediction!!) . ...anyway, enough self-adulation(not a bad word for a guy who took english as a foreign language in 1st grade(i know phil, you heard that before..sorry)...lets do it................................
SU WILL COME OUT SMOKING ...in the beginning we will score , "inside and out"(plenty of 3's)...we will have a small lead at the half.......sorry , my next prediction should not surprse anyone who has followed this team(and its "hall of fame "coach).we will run out of steam in the second half. WE WILL BE BLOWN OUT AT THE END
SU 63
UCONN 81
i
hope i am wrong!!
2
EDITORIAL........... heres my analogy...if su's 5 best players played
against uconn's 5 best players in a gym , with the 3 referees being the only other people in the gym.... su would have a better chance of winning.this is because the syracuse players would play the exact same way (SINCE THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT EVEN WHEN BOEHEIM IS COACHING THEM) and thehuskies are used to being directed.....BOEHEIM HAS NO CONTROL OF THIS TEAM.he is like a nagging parent who constantly yells at their child but NEVER does anything about it. .....this su team is PAINFUL TO WATCH!!!
......... sorry, i had to get it offf my chest................. till

He's a fantastic player, and unfortunately I haven't followed his career enough to know how he does in end-of game situations. However, Gerry McNamara has been hitting game-winning shots since he stepped foot onto campus. If the MVC doesnt get at least 4 in, the selection commitee will be labeled as a complete joke. Syacuse may in fact be the flavor of the moment, but they also lost to Depaul by 40 like a week and a half ago. The MVC will get their due, but only becuase the media has hyped up that conference this year, and rightfully so. They SHOULD have 5 teams in.

absolutely. That Arizona team was stacked, was that not the year after the won in the title in 1998?? Good ole Miles Simon. Could be wrong though, maybe the year before?? I even remember Chevy had a advertisement with the highlights of the upset like one week later for the Sweet 16 games. At any rate, Bucknell wasnt even KU's biggest upset ever in the tourney. Imo, that would belong to Rhode Island in 1998, taking out Pierce and LaFrentz. Damn that still hurts, coupled up with the loss to Arizona the year before.

the biggest problem this year is the lack of a real point guard. our turnovers are killing us. thats due alot to cp deciding to leave at the last second and the belief the jgray would be able to handle it, like he did freshman year and during high school. jgray is doing well at all his other responsibilities, eric has outplayed sheldon in both their matchups, hale has progressed quite nicely. skip's only real fault is the teams lack of defense, but you cant say he hasnt tried. switching up to the 1-3-1 at the end of the year helped alot.

I did a little research on what Harold Arceneaux is up to. In late 2004, he signed a contract with the Utah Snowbears. He was made their highest paid player at a whopping $18,000 per year. I would laugh, but I don't think Ed Cota is doing too much better.
Ed Cota is kicking ass and taking names in Europe.

Is he really? I knew he was playing there, but I haven't been able to find any stats or anything on him.

He played for FC Barcelona this year and had kind of a down year. He topped the Euroleague in assists a couple times a few years ago.

meh. i saw it coming. miami gave them a game, though. i'm looking forward to the illinois/mich st. game and, of course, the zona/ucla game tonight. i have to drive 3 hours home when i get off of work at 5, so hopefully i'll be able to catch most of the games. except i don't think that illinois is on. oh well. zona should be on FSN.

Without a doubt the most disappointing team in the Kelvin Sampson era. All other previous Sampson teams exceded expectations or at the very least met expectations. This is not a tournament team. Give our spot to a more deserving Missouri Valley team or whoever.

We can play with anybody. I mean, who thought Syracuse would get hot? OU's season isn't over yet...disappointing thus far? Yeah, big time. Does it have to be a total disappointment? No way. I am ready to make a run.

Royce, we've been waiting and waiting and waiting for this team to wake up. I have no clue what it is, but they just aren't very good. They've done nothing to make me think they are all of a sudden going to flip the switch or find a way to turn it on. We are looking at a 7 or 8 seed and if we were somehow able to win a first round game we'd play a 1 or 2 in the second round. I just don't see don't see this team making any noise in the tournament. Do you think we could beat a Syracuse or an Arkansas or a similar team right now?

I really thought we played well. we're a very low tempo team and at the half I really thought we were ok. But damn, Maric was no match for bookout on our end of the floor. Bookout was just shutting him down.
Man if I thought we had our hands full today...whew...

I am waiting too....and still holding out hope. I think the talent is there, but smething just isn't clicking.
I promise you, next year we will be better. I know it sounds crazy, but give Kelvin a team that isn't supposed to be as good and let him build players and wham! you have a group of overachievers.
Hmm....

I don't doubt that one bit, but it shouldn't be that way. I know we'll be more athletic with Griffin replacing Bookout and Damon Jones coming in (hailed as the second coming of Wayman Tisdale in one article I saw :lol ). And we have a McDonalds All American point guard coming too.

Once again, a low blow. We know we don't compete with KU on a yearly basis. We don't have to win the conference to be a good team and make a run in the post season. We've won 3 conference tournaments, played in 2 other championship games, gone to a Final Four and an Elite Eight since the Big 12 was formed without winning a conference championship. We split it with you last year and got bounced in the second round of the dance, so conference championships really don't factor into the success of our season. KU is king in Big 12 hoops. I can live with that.
