no key foul trouble?
jgray was out within like 3 minutes in the first half with 2 fouls. thats key foul trouble. its just that wake is such a deep team that taron could step up and take his spot.
carolina has the same depth, but TD hit 3 big 3's. wake had that advantage because carolina's bench is more centered around defense. with mccants out there goes a good chunk of scoring. at least TD has the ability to do so whereas say a David Noel doesn't

chris ellis scoring 11 of the bench was nice too. but yeah wake's bench isnt centered on defence, because well before saturday, i didnt think we knew how to play d.

Even after that abyssmal game. Reddick's back up to 21 ppg, 95% from the line, and 41% from behind the arc. I'll take those numbers anyday. Could be why I don't mind Randolph and Williams being rebounding machines and not much more.

but they can penalize him for missing 4 games.... and they probably will. No doubt Simien's numbers are the most impressive..... no doubt Reddick is the most important player to his team right now. That being said, this is a popularity contest... if the award were handed out today, it wouldnt surprise me one bit if a Warrick, Gray or McCants won, even though their numbers pale in comparison.

I was on the ASU campus back in December and bumped into him. Now, I'm a big guy (6.6, 215) and when I was a student at UA I lived with Richard Jefferson for a summer and across the hall from Gil Arenas one semester so I spent some time with the team back then (including Loren Woods and Walton). But Diogu is just HUGE. He's shorter than Loren Woods, I think, but the man is just a tree.
And he has game. Great inside and he can shoot from outside. Hasn't scored fewer than 10 points in a game in his career.

I think having a College Gameday for basketball is going to make football fans step up their game next year. Those guys being in the middle of Krzyzewskiville, Chapel Hill, Wake, or Kansas. It's going to put a football Gameday to shame (at least this year since it's only been done a couple of times).

Jackie Manuel is easily the best defender on the team. Noel in no way could replace Felton. He is a wing forward who has an average shot, hustles his ass off, and boards well, but nobody on the Heels can run the point anywhere near the level of Felton.

He still has some attitude problems. He lived next door his freshman year and even then he was aware that he needed to get it under control, but he would go out and if he wasn't shooting well in a game he would get frustrated and take himself out of it. And he came back for his sophomore year saying "I know I can't be like that anymore" but he was. Same story last year (his junior year). And same story this year, he had a meltdown back in December that got him benched for a while. He's looking great right now, but it can't last all the way through March and when he starts to struggle it'll be interesting to see if he can keep himself together.

KU had the had the best talent in the nation that year.... bar none.... that team was the last true threat to go undefeated through the whole season....losing in their 23rd game at Mizzou in Double OT. Vaughn didnt lose that game, the Jayhawks lack of speed did....... one thing Illinois and Kansas have plenty of this season. Many people expect KU to lose tomorrow, I think they'll have their way with Villinova. The Nebraska game was a "loss" for all intensive purposes, if they are a good team, they'll bounce back right away without even flinching. Very similar to their scare with Texas A&M before going out to Kentucky and shutting them down. Same thing again with Illinois.... many people expect them to go down in Madison next week, but last night's "close call" may give them the extra edge, wake up call and experience needed to overcome a tougher opponent on the road.

i agree that after last nite's close call, Illinois will beat the Badgers (a loss i've been calling for a couple of weeks now) on Tuesday. same with KU tomorrow, i just hate picking them to win when everything suggests they should lose. i don't mind being wrong when predicting a KU loss.:)

What do you guys think about OU? Are they legit? We get Texas here tomorrow 2:45 Central, CBS) and Oklahoma State Monday (ESPN Big Monday). Win those and we'll be pushing the top 10. Our only two losses are to #4 Duke (Madison Square Garden) and #10 Washington (second game of the season in Alaska) I think we have Sweet 16 potential this year, but next year will be the year with all five starters coming back. Can't wait to see Taj Gray and Bookout take on Simien.

Rankings mean nothing. Look at Villanova for instance. Unranked team, but has played some very good/great teams very close and will likely upset Kansas today. Look at our team in 02-03. We weren't in the Top 25 preseason and were picked to finish in the bottom half of the Big East and we ended up winning the National Championship.
At this point in the season, Syracuse can play with, and beat any team in the country.
All that matters it what happens in the tourney. Which is exactly, like you said, when we play our best ball.

Just got back from the OU-texas game. Hard fought win. Kevin Bookout was a beast in the second half. We shot 38% from the field (6/28 from 3 point, 8/14 free throw). Lost Taj Gray with 10 minutes to go. Got his fourth foul and a technical that counted as his fifth on the same play. Texas' frontcourt is huge. It will be pure Bedlam Monday night when Oklahoma State comes in.
By the way, I hate sitting next to people that think the players can here them and shout at the top of their lungs the entire game.

It's not as much of a problem defensively for OSU, it's more of a problem offensively. OSU will have a problem getting a lot of offensive production inside which will put a lot of pressure on there backcourt to get it done. Also, with Bookout and Gray being better offensively, McFarland may find himself in foul trouble and you know Crawford will.

quite the parade in here after that KU loss.....it's always fun to watch people celebrate other teams losing rather than caring about how good your own team is doing. The Univ of Missouri is offically off suicide watch.
I'm fine with it, its not Big XII play and we already proved who we can beat......without being at full strength. After so many close calls, I guess they deserved a real wake up. KU will drop to 3 or 4, again, the RPI doesnt lie kids, I think we can allow the Jayhawks to lose a game here and there with the toughest schedule in the country. Lets be honest here, true, Nova is not ranked, but they will be a tourney team.... and certianly not a pushover like Santa Clara. even further proof that a team will not be penalized for a loss in the ACC.....and no, I'm not talking about the Yellow Jackets. Ive never seen a team drop so much for a game that they were expected to lose..... again, granted Villanova is not ranked....still, Vegas had the game as a pick 'em.....as long as they jack them right back up after KU tears apart Texas next week. Lunardi still has the Jayhawks where they belong.... a No. 1 seed. He also has a whopping 5 teams making the dance out of the ACC, compared to the Big East's 7. what does that have to do with what i said? nothing? ok. Just because it was the best day in your history (not your avatars history) doesn't mean it was the worst day in mine. i have been through much worse losses than that one.
Sportsfan - "who's your favorite college team?"
RMinor205 - "how much time you got?"
Sportsfan - "it's a simple question man, what's your favorite college team, how long can it take?"
RMinor205 - "well it's kind of funny, and i know this probably won't make sense, but here goes..... In football i like Miami, not of Ohio, but THE University of Miami Hurricanes. In basketball i really love the 'Cuse, man. gotta pull for my Orangemen, wooo!
Sportsfan - "damn, you're all over the map, man.....how 'bout baseball and women's soccer?"
RMinor205 - "let me think for a second............................................ ........ got it! baseball? definately Texas! I know we got upset in the college world series last year, but we'll be back. Hook 'em Horns, yea baby! women's soccer? that's easy, GO TAR HEELS!!!!
Sportsfan - "later dude............... "
RMinor205 - "wait man, come back, i'm not done yet.........."

Those Illini better watch out for that Duke team behind you. Coach K's looking to even up another stat with Wooden. From ESPN.com:
"The last unanimous No. 1 team was Duke, which did it nine times in a 10-week span in 2001-02. The Blue Devils are now one spot from reaching No. 1 for an eighth straight season. That would be four behind UCLA's record that started in 1963-64."
Ga. Tech dropped out of all but one poll, as they should have after the last two weeks. Also good to see the Utes making a little noise. Tomorrow looks like it's gonna be fun.

That is because the Big East is the best conference in basketball. Always has been. Always will be.

ACC is still the best. 3 teams in the top 5 in the nation, can't really argue with that.
after that, the Big Ten, Big East, SEC and Big 12 are all pretty even at the top.

certianly cant argue with that....as of right now, thats the way the sportswriters want it, and they get the vote. The ACC wasnt supposed to be the best this season because of its "Elite teams" though.... this was supposed to be a threatning conference from top to bottom.... the way the season has shaped up so far, you see more teams from the ACC playing themselves out of contention. UVA, Florida St (even with their big win that didnt count for anything), NC State, Maryland, Ga Tech are all playing below where "experts" expected them to be at this point. When youre projected to get as many as 8 in, and as it now stands, the ACC will be lucky to get 5 in.....with Maryland having a below .500 conference record.

even further proof that a team will not be penalized for a loss in the ACC.....and no, I'm not talking about the Yellow Jackets. The polls have never been a bigger popularity contest with the flava of the moment.
People didn't expect Kansas to lose against Nova. You never expect the second ranked, and undefeated, team in the nation to lose to an unranked team. They expected it to be a close game, but I didn't hear experts, nor Vegas favoring Nova.

so now your having been to an arena makes it a tough place to play? i'm sure it's safe to assume that you've never been to Cameron or Allen Fieldhouse. they're both loud (and small) and they have the home records to prove it year in and year out. I know they're not in the Big East, but you should check it out sometime.......

Yeah, I've been to Allen Fieldhouse. I grew up in Nebraska and we saw a game back when I was in grade school. We had some friends who lived in Overland Park who went down to the game with us. It's a nice arena, but I really believe that the RAC is more difficult. You can chalk (rock chalk it if you really want to) it up to me either being young at the time, or having a Big East bias.
I've never been to Cameron, but I'm of the opinion that the ACC is overrated. So I don't think I'll be visiting it anytime soon. Unless of course they bring back the ACC Big East challenge and Syracuse or UConn plays there. Then perhaps I'll make it down to see a game there.

I think the conference is overrated so I have no interest in seeing them play. In fact, after hearing Dick Vitale talk the ACC up for so many years it gets to the point where you don't want to hear about them, see them, or even think about them.
