no doubt. This kills my bracket officially, but opens up a lane for Texas in that they won't have the mental handicap of playing, in the elite 8, a team that raped them by 30 earlier in the year. I think Texas can take LSU, assuming they get by WVU.

Aldridge will have his hands full, but I think he would be the best post on the floor.

Talk shit.... DOOK = failure the Atlanta Braves, Buf Bills of college basketball. 4 times in the last 5 years a 1 seed and you only make the final four once. You have 2 all american seniors(which is odd for college bball these days) and dont even make it, let alone cut down the nets. Im a UNC fan what a failure lose at home on senior night and now this. Everyone knew for UNC last year they had to do it with the mass exodus. Also everyone knew this year Puke had to do it and they didnt.

There's no such thing as the Atlanta Braves/Buffalo Bills of the NCAA. There are hundreds of college basketball teams... and you're only allowed to get 4 years out of each player. Those players don't just come to Duke because they picked the school out of a hat. It's much harder to maintain dominance in college, particularly when you run a clean program. Not only that, but Duke has reached the Sweet 16 nine years in a row and the Final Four 10 times since 1986. But you're a UNC fan, so clearly you're not going to cut Duke any slack, which is understandable.

They will not be back next year. McRoberts isnt going to grow anymore and is going PRO. Right now he is projected top 5. By staying another year will he improve his draft status? NO. Palus will not lead the ACC in assists next year as there is no more Redeyes and Williams to score. Puke is in trouble. UNC and Georgia Tech have a load of talent coming in.

Yes there is a choke job of college sports and Puke just did it. Here is what you had.

-5 McDonalds all americans
-2 consensus all-americans
-senior laden veteran team with tremendous freshman talent
-pre-season number one by everyone
-number one team in country going into tourney
-overall tournament number one seed
-supposedly the best coach in the game
-supposedly the best shooter of all time

all of this adds together to = maybe THE GREATEST CHOKE JOB OF ALL TIME

Bob Dylan

Lets review one by one.

96- first round choke to EASTERN MICHIGAN.

97- Wojo cries after choking in the second round, as a 2 seed, to Providence College. UNC started 0-3 in ACC play went to Final Four and got Dean the alltime win record in the process.

98- Choked away 17 pt. lead in 9 minutes to Kentucky with a trip to the Final Four on the line. UNC goes to the Final Four.

99- Largest pointspread favorite in a title game ever, Dook chokes to UConn, nowhere near the program we know the Huskies to be now.

00- #1 seed loses to #5 seed Florida, in Sweet 16, just getting going under Donavan. UNC goes to Final Four as an 8 seed.

01- fine they win it all.

02- #1 ranked and seeded Dook chokes to UNRANKED Indiana in Sweet 16.

03- Not really a choke. A better team and program with a better coach beats them in the Round of 16. That team is Kansas and that coach is ROY WILLIAMS

04- Choked away a 9 pt. lead in fewer than 3 minutes in the Final Four to UConn.

05- Choked again, this time to a 4 seed when Dook was a 1 seed. It was Michigan St. who took advantage of their gag in the Sweet 16, a team UNC would beat in the Final Four semis by 16, a week later. UNC won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

06- NAD THE GRAND DADDY OF THEM ALL - Biggest Choke Ever. In Sweet 16 again, a middling LSU team, not even playing well offensively, was the beneficiary of the Dook choke. Remeber last week when Texas A+M only lost to Dook by 1 point.

So what is the biggest DOOK CHOKE JOB. Has to be this one but there are so many choices. 5 of the last 7 years, they've choked in the round of 16.

Is this your first NCAA tounament? You must be new to this. Do you understand how hard it is to win it and how much luck it takes to win it? The best team rarely wins this thing. You claim to be a UNC fan, you should know this. How much talent did Dean Smith squander? How many times did he have the best team and come up short? He won what, 3 championships in 25 or 30 years with all that talent? You might educate yourself before you start jumping on Duke or anyone else.

UNC starts 4 Freshman. Duke start 1.

UNC won it all last year and knew they had to do it. we werent even supposed to make the tourney this year.We were picked like 7 in the ACC and finished 2nd. Wait and see when good old Roy get the NCAA coach of the year. Oh ya and won at CAMERON AND RUPP. Name another team that did that in the same season

They also beat Carolina. They were 1 and 1 on the year.

That brings us to another choke they should have won at CAROLINA and won the regular season ACC championship but - Dook blew a 9 point lead with 3:07 left as the Heels run off 11 straight points to clinch the ACC regular season title.

Ginyard was not a starter when the team started playing great basketball. Noel was not at UNC on a football scholarship. He walked on his freshman year because they didn't have enough scholarships at that time. Doherty promised him one his sophomore year, and Roy honored that promise when he took over. Noel has been on a basketball scholarship ever since. Wes Miller, the other guy you refered to as a walk on, was also on scholarship this year.

I hate Duke as much as you do, but I don't have blinders on.

Please quote my posts right I never mentioned MILLER. I mentioned Terry walked on his freshman year. If you remember he came with a guy name Justin Bolander. Also you mentioned wes miller. he had a scholarship this year but loses it next year per an agreement with roy. Do some research on the miller family and you will see they are loaded and big time donors to wake forest university.

Noel was offered to come to unc on a football scholarship. He declined that offer and then you are right walked onto teh basketball team.

I'm a Longhorn but here's my objective opinion:

the Texas game was better because a team stepped up to WIN the game as opposed the the Gonzaga game where they fucked up to LOSE the game.

WVU didn't make a mistake at the end to let Texas win (unless you think they allowed too much time after their last shot).

Gonzaga had that fucking game won and pissed it away. UCLA didn't earn their win the way Texas did.

Agreed. He got some sort of cross-breed type of Longhorn fan. In defence of the fans though at the Rose Bowl. I have found that at big sporting events like the Rose Bowl, when the fans interact with each other and there is no built in rivalry or some sort of history between the two schools, the fans will inevitably get along with one another. And in the case of the Rose Bowl, I can see how Longhorn fans might just be happy to be there. They hadn't been there in a very very very long time and just enjoying the moment. While USC fans had been there before and this wasn't much of a "vaction" for them as it would be for Longhorn fans.

But, by in large, Longhorn fans are the scum of the earth.

I'm not going to sugarcoat it... I hate Duke, I hate Krizooski, and I derived great pleasure from watching them lose in the tournament just as I do every year. What made it even better was that they lost to my home team. Tyrus Thomas is a monster.

I'm sure people will try to deny it now, but a lot of Duke fans were VERY cocky about how they were a lock to make it to the Final Four. Yes, UNC lost to George Mason, but look at their expectations. UNC started the season unranked, and a lot of people (including myself) questioned whether they'd even make the tournament. They far exceeded most people's expecations. On the other hand, Duke really thought they could win a National Championship, and they lost in the Sweet 16. I know they finished the regular season with a great record, but I'm not sure you can consider it a successful season with a finish like that. So for J.J., that's three losses in the Sweet 16 and one loss in the Final Four, with two of those Sweet Sixteen losses coming in seasons where he was "the man". I did feel for him when he started crying after the game though. As much as I dislike him, I like to see that kind of emotion from players.

It was a great night of college basketball all around. I really felt bad for Morrison. I thought Gonzaga had that game. And for some reason, after West Virginia hit that three to tie it, I knew Texas was going to hit that shot... I don't know how, but I felt it coming. I just hope tonight's games can come close to matching last night's.

Cornhusker fans though...best in college athletics. :thumbsup

And of course they will be nice there. They were playing for a National Title, and they won the game.

Everyone should experiance the sheer hatred between people at a Red River game. Oklahoma fans aren't the nicest, but compared to Texas, we are angels. Texas fans are arrogant, cocky SOB's that think Texas is the only state in the Union.

And I can attest that Husker fans are some of the best. Always loyal, and always friendly. Can't say the same for the head coach....

From my experience, I'd say that's true of a LOT of fans in Texas in general, not just UT fans. I know I'm generalizing here, but a lot of people in Texas have this aura of superiority about them. I'm not sure any other state celebrates itself as much as Texas. Of course they call it "pride", but it comes off as arrogance to those of us in Louisiana. I'm sure you guys in Oklahoma have a good idea of what I'm talking about.

I forgot about this thread. I was at the Oakland regionals last night. Bradley got worked...figured it was going to happen. Gonzaga was absolutely OWNING UCLA and UCLA was completely dead. The coach wouldnt stop pacing because he couldnt get anyone in the game to spark the team. I was in the section next to the UCLA fan/cheering section and they were dead for the first 37 minutes of the game aswell.

When there were about 5 minutes left in the game i said "this is over." I dont know how UCLA did it but it was one of the most emotional moments of my life. I was going into the game fairly unbiased...kind of wanted UCLA. When the game ended and Morrison fell to the floor, it was one of the most emotional moments of my life (i dont know how else to describe it). The single photographer that ran out to half-court and started snapping photos of him breaking down almost seemed poetic (again i dont know how else to explain it). I truly thought that Morrison was going to kill himself, right there and then. I was about 25 rows up from the floor and I could hear Morrison crying and screaming from there.

I am so excited for tomorrow. I hate to say it but Memphis is going to own UCLA.

Just realized how long that was...sorry.

I actually only got three of the Elite 8... but I also have all three of those in the Final Four, so I could be in decent shape. It's mathematically impossible for me to win though. The highest I could finish is 3rd, but considering the fact that I'm in 30th right now, that doesn't seem so bad.

Say what you will about the UConn-Washington game, but Rashad Anderson is clutch. That was an amazing shot to tie the game at the end of regulation.

Washington had plenty of opportunities to win the game. One play that comes to mind is the defensive breakdown on the inbound play that gave UConn two easy points at a crucial time. I didn't watch the entire game (we got the Florida-Georgetown game), so the officiating may have been horrible... but I did see the last five minutes of regulation and overtime, and aside from the no goaltending call, I really didn't see anything that was that bad. Washington could have won this game, but they couldn't capitalize on several opportunities down the stretch.

No doubt. Again, like the Super Bowl, there were still so many chances to win the game it pains me to think about it all over again. Jensen's foul on Williams to give him a 3-point play. Smith's turnover in the final seconds. The Roy technical.

I certainly don't want to say it was all officiating, because I hate being a fan like that. But it was a contribution. An unprecedented discrepancy in fouls, and a few crucial bad calls.

Gonzaga is 800 miles from Oakland (for comparison, Tennessee is within 800 miles of three of the four tourney regions).

UCLA won the Pac-10 outright, with 6 total losses, two to Washington, one to Memphis and one to West Virginia.

The theory is that teams who win their conference earn the right to play close to their home towns, assuming there isn't already another team that has taken that place. Just because the West gets a small number of bids in the tourney doesn't mean that they should be penalized.

The same could be said that LSU shouldn't have been in the Atlanta. Or that UNC shouldn't be in the DC bracket.

The #1 seed should not be placed at a disadvantage against say a 2 through 4 seed. If UCLA were an 8 seed and made it through that is different. Bing a 2 seed, they were expected to make it through and play the 1 seed Memphis in Oakland. I don't think that's right. At worst, it should be a neutral setting, and if any team has a home court advantage it should be the 1 seed. That's part of the reward of earning the top seed.
