They are tough... good gaurd play, good coach.
But the problem is you live by the three you die by the three. I saw it for years when Rick was at Kentucky.

Personally, I think the Final 4 will be:
UNC
Duke
Kentucky
Louisville
Final 8:
Wake
Illinois
Cuse
Ok St.
Kentucky has played three teams ranked in the top 25. they've beat 1. they need to get better fast to make it to the final four. UNC, Louisville are good picks, i'm not sold on Duke yet.

If #1 Kentucky getting beat by UAB in the second round last year is peaking in March, then you may want to set some higher standards.

UAB shot damn near 60% and got some serious homecooking by the same walking blowjob that called this year's uk-unc game. Fact: UNC shot 44 free throws. uk shot like 11.
I'm not saying that's why we got beat, because UK was the better team. But when some team goes lights out and gets every break in the officiating, it's tough to win. Even for the JayCocks.

where was the homecooking in this years Kansas @ Kentucky game? Kansas played without their best player at "one of the toughest places to play in America" and still won.

Find where I ever said Kentucky got beat by the whistle against KU.
I'll save you the trouble... you can't.
Read before you post numbnuts. Oh and nice to see someone from raleigh jumping on the KU bandwagon. Better now than later when there's no room.

Oh yeah... and you just reminded me that when UK got beat by UAB, Keith Bogans, our first round draft pick was not playing because of an injury suffered the game before.
KU had time to find their chemistry with whoever gone. UK didn't have that luxury.

if i changed my location to "a long way from my old Kansas home" would you be happy? I live in Raleigh, i'm not from Raleigh. If i was from here, i wouldn't have to look to far to find a favorite basketball team. i've moved around my whole life, Kansas, Texas, Seattle, Germany, Atlanta, Tampa.......... it would get very tiresome and expensive for me to find a new team every time i lived somewhere. so actually, i'm quite the opposite of a bandwagon jumper.

good games tonight. i'm picking louisville, ou, wake. duke has some shortcomings that should get exposed tonight. they're a solid team but not undefeated solid. i like louisville's team make up, big fan of petino, perfect example of why college coaches need to stay in college, screw the nba. and of course ou, should win by 15 if a@m doesn't play zone, otherwise all bets are off.

Kentucky has been hands down the hottest team in college basketball going into the tourny the past two years, but hasn't reached the final four either of those years. I suppose you could say that Kentucky peaks in late Febuary/early March.

I figure if someone's gonna beat them, why not the guy who recruited them and coached them for a couple years. KU would matchup really well with the Illini imo, Luther Head/JR Giddens same player. Brown/Miles wipe each other out. Langford doesnt have the range of Williams, but can take him to the hole all day. Simien is the man who would make a difference in this matchup. Granted, the Illiini bench is better at this point, but still no answer for Big DUB.
While KU matches up pretty well with Illinois I think UNC does better. Felton is one of the few players in the country who has quickness anywhere near Brown. McCants and Head are similar players. Manuel is a great defender and should do a good job on Williams. Jawad and May are just a huge advantage in the post over Powell and Augustine.

I really anxious to see how UNC handles Duke next week. UNC hasnt really been tested in a tight game yet. A good amount of their wins were blowouts and in their 2 losses, they were overmatched. Good teams become great teams in a tie game with 3:00 left in the 2nd half.

UNC style of play doesn't allow for a lot of close games as this season has shown. it's either beat 'em down, or get beat down. when they're running on all cylinders, no one can beat them. But when it goes bad, it goes bad in a hurry.

When Paul was going after the ball it looked like he fouled him, but it was after the whistle was blown that Ewing swung his arm. Hence cheap shot. I wouldn't stand in and take a shot from Redick, but then again there is nobody on this Earth I would willingly stand in and take a shot from.

At KU they did the show in the main lobby for the Fieldhouse, so I dont know that they fit as many as they could have if it would have been on the floor....it's a pretty cool show, even though they have a bunch of clowndicks as commentators. the question isn't who would win if they played today. i agree that Wake would mop the floor with them, but if you use the "who would win today" argument, then everyone in the country would have UNC #1. you have to reward teams based off of what they've done, not what they would do in a given situation. Chances are, BC will lose a couple down the stretch and either Wake or UK will get the other #1 which will be fine with me. but, right now you have to give BC a #1 seed. all's they've done is win. St. Joe's got a #1 last year with a much weaker schedule than BC's this year. look at it this way, if BC gets a #1 and Wake is the highest ranked #2, they'll probably put you in the same region so you can settle it on the court. the selection peeps are usually good about that kind of stuff.

why would you put UNC #1? Illinois is head and shoulders about every other team in the country. UNC has 2 loses, one to wake. the illini are better than wake, and its not because they beat us by 29, that was the work game wake has played, you really cant compare that with anything. but just by watching both teams you can see that the illini are the best team in the nation.

you would be hard pressed to find anyone on a major tv network that wouldn't take UNC over Illinois on a neutral court. you can't use the UNC has two losses argument to keep them out of #1, then turn around and say Wake deserves to be ahead of BC. Illinois is a great team and more consistent than UNC, but if they both played their best games, i'd take UNC in a heart beat.

Not that it was really ever in doubt, but OU officially gave Kansas the Big 12 regular season championship tonight by getting embarrassed at home by Texas Tech. KU now has a two game lead. What game do you guys think is the toughest game to win in college basketball. OU is going to Stillwater on Monday night, and I have always thought that OU winning in Stillwater was one of the single hardest games in the entire country for a team to win. It's almost impossible for OU to come out of Stillwater with a W. The environment there is unreal. It is so much easier for OSU to come to Norman and get a win. Not because they are better, but because of the difference in atmosphere. You'd be hard pressed to find a crazier place then Gallager Iba when OU is in town. The Duke/NC game comes to mind as being really difficult for the road team to win. Any others that my be up there with the Stillwater Bedlam game?

Yeah, it was an awesome game (I had to watch the game at a friends, because my ankles sprained.. and the dawg pack is no place for a person with a sprained ankle :BANG ). But UW's speed will be able to match them up good against all but maybe 6 or 7 teams. And i can't recall any of UW's losses this year due to a lack of presence in the paint, they dominated the boards today and they handled ASU's Ike Diogu well a few weeks ago.

And Syracuse looked horrendous. Thankfully we were able to pull it out in the end, but that was just an ugly game all around.
The officiating was terrible on both sides of the ball. The second technical, I really don't know where that one came from because honestly, it didn't look like 5 seconds from where I was sitting. And the last foul on McNamara, I don't know about that one, but it sure looked like a touch foul to me.
While the game, minus the last 6 minutes or so was bad, I particularly enjoyed Chuck's after the game.

Okay. :rolleyes I think the Illini ended up playing down to the Hoosier's level. Even at that pathetic play, they still won wire to wire.

Finally, ESPN jumps on the "Illini to Indy" wagon. They've looked foolish the past couple of weeks while everyone has been talking about it.

looks like KU is on the short path as well. Oklahoma City -> Austin -> St. Louis.
Austin isn't all that close, but it's in the Big XII so they should have a good following.

Me too, I hope it's a good game. This and the next one are biggies for Uconn. With Gordon and Brown gone and top recruit A.J. Price lost with a intracranial hemorrhage for the season you knew the backcourt was weak. I'm not sure what's up with the frontcourt, I just hope Coach Calhoun figures it out soon.

Well, I didn't really get to catch the game as I was driving down to Harrisburg, but from what I heard on the radio it sounded like the refs were horrendous in the second half.
It also sounded like we made a few critical mistakes. The 3 on 1 where Roberts held on to the ball instead of passing it, and when we were up 5 and either Edelin or McNamara threw a pass down court that went out of bounds. Those sort of plays are the things that we need to cut down on and we will be a good basketball team.

McNamara going 1 for 9 from the three point line doesn't help either. especially when he's half of a two man offense. I know you get someone else to step up on occasion, but the 'Cuse is really gonna need a legit third scorer to go deep in the tourney. McNamara has an off night, Warrick gets in foul trouble, game over.

officials were horrible, as they were saturday night. i wouldnt be surprised if you dont see that crew doing another big time game. i was really impressed with roberts tonight. if mccrosky starts another game over edelin, im giving my season ticket to someone. other than that, uconn dug into their zone and found a way to win. we got nova, pitt, and bc next. i sense 3-0 :)

Hopefully last night was a breakout game for Charlie Villanueva, it would be nice to see him living up to all the hype that came with him. Unfortunately for Uconn, if he does, he is most likely gone after this season

you'll get a better idea how good UConn really is or isn't this weekend when the Tarheels come to town. UConn could catch them in a vulnerable spot, coming off of a mentally draining game at Duke...... or UNC could win by 40. either way, i'll be watching.

i feel a 2-1 with a loss to nova.
story of the game last night:
Team fouls in the 2nd for SU: 19, Uconn:6
su made one 3 pointer all game
Warrick had his 4th with 11 to go. and everyone else on the floor was with 4 with at least 8 to go. how the hell do you guard boone and villanueva with 4?
i was screamin my ass off at the refs seeing as i snuck into the 100s

unfortunately the pokes pulled out a close one last night, ou's guards have got to get better, we don't have anyone that can consistenly light it up from outside, teams are starting to sag and double the inside, that being said i hope we get them on a neutral court, maybe in the big12 tourney, anybody else see the game? any comments?

aahhhh. your philosophy is slightly different than mine. Living here is what drives my hatred for UNC, Duke, etc.... Having good national games not shown so we can get Duke vs.Davidson, or UNC vs.Hellen Keller School For The Blind And Deaf, etc..... it's enough to drive a man crazy. Great basketball once conference play starts unless you consider the NC State @ Miami game being shown instead of Kansas @ Kentucky good programing. TV's alomost got broke that day........:twak
