Got a phone call late last night, had an extra couple tickets. Hell yeah. So I got up early and caught a 5am train out of Albany to Washington. I got so lucky that everything went right. I got to the game a little after the first media timeout, it was wonderful :thumbsup

Now in a buddy's hotel room, dropped my stuff off here as I obviously didn't have time to go to my sister's.

As I'm sure you guys saw, struggled for what seemed like forever. But I knew this Xavier team was more talented than Georgia. It was interesting how as badly as we played in the first half, we were able to switch it and play so well in the last 13 or so minutes. How about Freshman Dante Jackson taking the big shot to put us ahead 52-49? What confidence for the only Frosh on the team.

So I got tickets for the night session tonight. Hey Clay, Will, Bryan, etc. Should I got see Duke? :lol I doubt it very much, gotta go find some alcohol around here. If I were at Dustin's place, I wouldn't have to walk anywhere, I bet he's got that cooler sittin right next to him :lol

K-State has got to be the worst team of all to play in the tourny. They have 1 guy who can easily take over a game and another who is more than capable. If this team was a little more seasoned, they would be final 4 material.

IMO the games tomorrow are a lot harder to pick. IU/Ark, Butler/S Alabama, OU/St. Joes, Oregon/Miss St all could go either way I think. That East bracket could be messy for me.

I went back and watched the end of the Duke/Belmont game.

If #40 for Belmont sets a decent screen, or the guy he setting it for rubs his man off the screen, Belmont has the easiest basket in the world. That was a grea play Belmont's coach drew up, but they didn't execute like they should.

The screen is the most underrated/overlooked part of basketball. Watch any Bobby Knight team play and you will see how effective a screen can be.

So for anyone that's not familiar with the DC Area, the Verizon Center is in the middle of Chinatown, with a lot of great bars across the street and in the blocks around. So I was in one of the bars with some people when I got a phone call a little after halftime of the Duke game, told me it was close. I figured what the hell, it's right down the street. So I caught the last 7 or 8 minutes, unbelievable! Woulda been great to see Belmont get that one....

As for the Xavier game this afternoon, we showed a lot of poise, pulling a straight 180 from the first half. Obviously that's not gonna fly on Saturday vs. Purdue. I saw Purdue scored 90 points today, I'm awfully surprised by that, I wonder how that happened. I'm assuming Baylor really forced them to play up-tempo. I'm also assuming that Purdue won't do the same thing Saturday. I imagine they'll slow things way down, they'll want to play the game at Big Ten speed, down in the 60s. Hopefully our guys will keep the pressure dialed up. Like today's second half, our defense turns into offense. We love getting fast breaks.

And yes, in answer to the above question. There's a sports bar down here in Arlington I think called Bailey's. I will be there all day tomorrow :D

I absolutely agree with this; in fact if the Pac 10 had more teams that sucked along the lines of bigger conferences bottom feeders, Washington & Cal (as well as Arizona State obviously) would of been seriously considered the tournament - but because the Pac 10 was so brutal this year (aside from Oregon State), their records do not reflect how good they are.
