although its not a "dmb" song... watchtower is a good one to work with chord changes. bartender is very simple, if you know how to tune to drop D. typical situation is another easy one, especially if you play the chord is straight chords G, F, Am C (i think those are right, recalling off top of head)

proudest monkey is easy to play, a little harder to sing and play but not bad. too much is not hard at all except for the bridge/jam... thats too tricky for a beginner id think

'Song that jane likes' would also be good, it has normal chords.
Lie in our graves would be good, it's fun learning the riffs between the D and G chord. You also get good practice with using your pinky power. I taught this to someone in like 13 minutes so it's not that hard if you know how to read guitar tab.
It's still one of my favorite songs to play.

Also one of the first songs I learned was #34. It actually is a good song to learn b/c alot of Dave's other songs follow the same type of guitar style as #34.(SMTS, DIDO, PM, HM, Satellite, soundcheck songs:))

I agree, but it will sure help you learn guitar and other songs quicker. My advice is don't spread yourself too thin. Work on just a few DMB songs until you really get them down and then move onto others.

hello, world......long time lurker, first time poster---
Easiest DMB's?----
Typical Situation
Grey Street
Gravedigger
Worst? Depends--
Jimi thing has always given me fits. Still doesn't sound right to me.
Warehouse sometimes.
WWYS, if you're not quick.
I would avoid those, at first.
Learn the "Dave" chords----(Say Goodbye/#41)--That'll help.

Watchtower is good for switching, Am-->G-->F, good little pattern.

This'll help you learn Dave's style of playing.

As said above, DMB is not fun starting off with, try some Bob Dylan or something like that first, get the basic chord structures down and learn how to play a few riffs, then try DMB.

i started on DMB. for some reason the first songs i got good at were PNP/WWBOM and LIOG. after 5 months of guitar, i can finally play the stone and trippin billies, but not with a great amount of skill. start with typsit and proudest monkey to get the basics down and to keep yourself motivated. spoon is not terribly difficult either. one thing you have to do before you play any dmb is learn some basic chords (A, Am, C, D, Dm, E, Em, F, G) otherwise you just be playing tablature, which is how i started out. learn the music instead of just the tab positions, if you can. but that said, www.dmbtabs.com is the best place for playing like dave. also, go to www.guitarnoise.com for beginner's songs since dave doesn't have many beginner's songs.

Christmas Song - Really helps build up pinky strength and the pace is nice and slow. Especially useful for practicing smooth G-A-B chord transitions.
