Oh man, I was at the game tonight and MAN was it awesome! My first game at the New Soldier Field, and I was RIGHT on the field. 4th row, right there, wow it was great.

Urlacher embarrasses Rivers, and wow. I'm just loving it.

Seriously guys, just stop listening to the media trying to sell you papers. Just watch Rex play. I'm TELLING you, he's something we haven't had in a decade. He can actually advance the ball, he can throw 20+ yard passes over the middle regularly, almost everything I see from him I like potential wise, but he's still raw. And that's the problem, the media just grills him as if the Bears will LOSE games because of him. And that's just crap. The offense he could finally bring will override a pick here and there. That's just my opinion I guess.

16 to 0 at halftime. And the Pack is VERY lucky it's that close. Lol @ sending out a kicker that's never made a field goal in his life for a 53 yarder. Way to keep the shutout in order.

First shutout of Favre's career. First shutout for the Packers since 1991. Beautiful. Way to start the year off right with those 2 picks Brett. Even though the Bears dropped two other ones. It's something to build on.

I cant even remember the last time i saw such a complete game. im talking about the offense doing just about everything right, to go along with a defense that is almost impossible to break. and it seems that the d gets even tougher inside the 20. man oh man if they can do this game in and game out, they might not lose a game all year. now, i dont see them going undefeated but there schedule this year is very very weak, and if this will be indication of what they are bringing to the table, i dont think its out of the question. Got damn i cant wait till next sunday!

and i dont care who you are...nobody could have predicted how well grossman was going to play. rexy just gained a point with me.

Now that the post-game euphoria has slightly diminished, I'm beginning to realize that we will not see this week in and week out. This was a very weak Packers team, we should destroy them like this. Although I fully expect the bears to make the playoffs with a first round bye, the rest of the games will not be this one-sided....although I'm not about to complain if they are.

11/15 174 yds 3 TDs, and it's still the 1st half. Too bad they will pull the reins in soon, and just hand the ball to Benson.

Bears 24
Lions 0

So much for that "defensive trench game".

Agreed. My roommate (collinsat) is the biggest Vikes fan so as you can imagine we had some beers riding on the game. I was really impressed by the Vikes defensive line. How can a guy as Fat as Pat Williams be so quick? Not to mention that Smoot dropped INT...Eeek.

yes, i said that so far, the game against the seahawk's was probably their hardest game...in other words if you don't understand what i'm saying, the seahawks are one of the better teams they have played this year...and yes i know they did well against them, i said that in my original post. however as far as saying they dominated the 'best team in the nfc last year', that really doesn't mean dick. the eagles were the best team in the nfc 2 years ago, and look at what happened to them the year after, as well as with many teams the year after that come out of the super bowl with a loss. and yes, i obviously know the bears can't help that they have an easy schedule, i'm not saying it's "not fair" that they have an easy schedule or anything, i was just pointing it out saying i think their good record they'll probably have at the end of the season will give their fans false hope for doing well in the playoffs...but who knows, the run against the giants, patriots, and colts (i think they play all them) may turn out successful for them, but really til then its gonna be hard to judge where they really stand

:rolleyes dont feel sorry for us. We are for real, do you really not believe that? It doesnt matter, see you in Miami.

This will be a tough run. I expect to lose one of these. It is very hard to win on the road in the NFL, especially 3 in a row. But every team in the NFL has to be crapping their pants against this defense right now. Its beautiful to watch.

the design and architecture of the new stadium is sick!!!

The Eagles def scares me, they looked good today as well. McNabb always kills the Bears. Right now it looks like the NFC championship game. Eagles have the best offense in the league, and obvioulsly the Bears have the best D. Makes for a great matchup.

are you an Eagles fan?

yes, i said that so far, the game against the seahawk's was probably their hardest game...in other words if you don't understand what i'm saying, the seahawks are one of the better teams they have played this year...and yes i know they did well against them, i said that in my original post. however as far as saying they dominated the 'best team in the nfc last year', that really doesn't mean dick. the eagles were the best team in the nfc 2 years ago, and look at what happened to them the year after, as well as with many teams the year after that come out of the super bowl with a loss. and yes, i obviously know the bears can't help that they have an easy schedule, i'm not saying it's "not fair" that they have an easy schedule or anything, i was just pointing it out saying i think their good record they'll probably have at the end of the season will give their fans false hope for doing well in the playoffs...but who knows, the run against the giants, patriots, and colts (i think they play all them) may turn out successful for them, but really til then its gonna be hard to judge where they really stand

Don't play the colts. I think the reasons the Eagles went to suck was TO being a complete ass and Donovans injury. Right now they (Eagles) are the second best team in the NFC in my opinion. Trust me I would love to see us in some competition. That is why last week was so great because it was against a real team. It is only week 5 right now so I don't want to get too excited and we all know one playoff game can fuck a great season.

Just playing devils advicate here, the Cards in central have the easiest teams to beat, sometimes they make it to the world seris, sometiems they dont. I think the bears have the talent and powere this year to go all the way even witht ehir easy league

Here we are, the standard search to confirm a certain stereotype or bias going in.

Bears fans are all homers and so now I'm going to find a way to prove it. Okay, I'll ignore 10 people that say take it easy, there's a long way to go, and then find the first person to say something about "Super Bowl". Then I can say "SEE, I told you so. It's so easy to root against them because they are all overconfident homers."

Only pay attention to posts that confirm the stereotype, don't focus on anything to the contrary.

they do have one weakness but don't tell anyone.

if their defensive line for some reason can't get pressure any decent QB can pick apart their secondary. they get interceptions almost soley because of their d-line forcing quarterbacks to make bad throws.

that being said, there is no reason to believe the d-line won't get pressure all the time, they are that good

well - i guess i could understand htat. but with time any decent QB can pick apart any secondary. the burden is on the pressure to make the coverage more effective.

The roughing the kicker call was the end of us. Players who make those kind of boneheaded, game-costing mistakes should be benched. We would've had another TD by now and the game would be 20-10 and we'd still have at least a chance.

Un-fucking-believable.

Or pin it on Devin for saving your asses with the return.

??? Lol, nice one. And there is a moon orbiting the Earth. Any other random notes you want to point out? All I was saying is that the Bears have no "star" receivers.

It's obvious they have the best defense in the NFL, it is also obvious that their offense is better than last year. However, this game shows that there offense is still probably just league average. I'd say right now the Bears are the best team in the NFC, but this was one the worst wins I have ever seen a team get. And I thought when Denny Green left the NFC North he'd stop helping the Bears, PAckers and Lions win games. What a terrible coach.

seriously hate on the bears if you want.

leinart played like a vet, made great reads and green coached his team pretty well. they came out with short drops and quick reads, got the ball to their best possession reciever (boldin) and made virtually every play they needed to (other than a missed kick). every turnover the bears got was earned - they made good plays and were rewarded for it.

also - on the bears not having what it takes to "get there"

grossman will not turn the ball over 6 times in a game for the rest of the season... maybe the rest of his career. if he can do that and we can still win, everyone else in the league is fucked.

for years.

??? Seriously. What are we debating here? Any teams chances of going to the Super Bowl is totally irrelevant in a conversation about the best WRs in the league. Im not even a freaking Dolphin fan! Muhammad has been to the pro-bowl once every 5 years. Is he not a star receiver when he isn't making the pro-bowl, which is 80% of the time??

Does 1 pro bowl appearance make a receiver a star, or does it have to be two?

First of all, nobody here is hating on the Bears. Christ, I've said they are the best team in the NFC, above. The Bears offense is still just so-so, and if you just beat a terrible team with no o-line and a rookie QB.

The "for years" comment is just laughable in the salary-cap era NFL. For cripes sakes the Saints are 5-1 this year. Teams typically go from playoffs to last place or vice versa in the span of 1-2 years nowadays.

Then we we're definitely watching different games. Matt defintely can, and definitely will. I have no bias because I could care less about either team or him, but he is definitely a talent and he showed it the last two games.

meh... they just had a gameplan and executed it. we would have been right there with them if grossman hadn't seizured in the first half... then continued convulsing in the second half.

i was thinking before hester returned that punt that you go with griese on the last drive (though in my heart i wanted grossman to lead us down the field).

we gave them 2 short fields and 6 turnovers. the only reason we won is because we are far and away the better team. they outplayed us.

Yep, it truley was a sad display by the bears. Im so happy that they won, but it seems like we were back in last year, with the D making all the plays. It was a pathetic showing and they seriosuly need to improv in the areas shown tonight, and Lovie needs to think about putting in the second string who is just as good when Grossman gives up 5 interceptions before the half.

Wait a second. Im not going to argue about Rod Smith, but a player like Smith who puts up years of very good to great numbers goes down as a "star receiver" in history, sure, but what the hell has Mushy Muhammad done? In 10 years the guy has had a whopping 3 1,000 yard seasons. Has scored more than 6 TD just twice, has caught more than 70 passes just three times. He had two above average-to-good years in 1999 and 2000, and one great year in 2004. If that is all you need to be a star in this league than just about every team has got a "star receiver"

My comment about Smith was more to point out that past pro-bowl appearances doesnt mean squat this year. Smith has had a terrific career, along the lines of Andre Reed I'd say. Mushy has had a career along the lines of Rickey Proehl.

no one cares if you have star recievers. u just need solid ones. who catch the ball. berrian is a deep threat, moose is a solid reciever and rasheed davis adds that x-factor though he isn't awesome. not to mention the fact that the TEs are stepping up. grossman has targets, time, and a running game. he'll be better.

and the D is out of this world good.

Is everyone forgetting the Bears have a Pro Bowl talented reciever in Mark Bradley? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJYRPR1QJmo part pre-season and part regular season. Still it's his 05' highlights. He has the best combo of size and speed out of the Bears recievers. He can do a lot. Trust me if he can get back to 100% he'll be a star. The Bears are taking it slow bringing him back though. Which is the right thing to do. With the emergance of Berrian it allows them to do that.

I thought that Favre game against the Rams last week was bad. Leads them down the field for a sure tie and great chance at another Favre late game winning touchdown...and then a fumble? What? How?

But yeah, this was even worse heartbreak for a team. The difference is just that Leinart is young and can deal with it. Favre looked on in disbelief like he was going to go hang himself in the locker room and cry.
