BTW how good is forte

Really, really good.

I was listening to some guys talk about him on the radio this morning.

And not only does he now have more rushing yards than any other rookie (Chris Johnson's 125 against the lions put him at 958, and Forte's 60+ so far tonight put him over 970), he also has the most receptions on the Bears.
I didn't know anything about him in college, but apparently he had this insane workload back then too.
Add that to college all-star games and such to impress the scouts, and the NFL combine and so forth, he basically hasn't had a break of any kind in like 2 years.

And he's a fucking horse. There is nothing the Bears are uncomfortable doing with him and they shouldn't be.

I've gotta go with Salaam because he was so hyped in college. Heisman trophy winner, right?

A side note though, my best friend from high school lived in and his parents still live in Curtis Enis's old house from when he played for the Bears. He used to get fan mail from kids addressed to Enis (yeah I know fan mail for him?) LOL True story though.

A-Train was all right, but after his rookie year. The Bears decided they needed to make him better. They spent the offseason making him gain weight, and trying to change certain aspects to his game. He was never the same. Dick Jauron and John Schoop for ya.
you remember the 2001 game where he caught a tipped hail mary? i think it was to force overtime
Ya we were losing 21-7 with :32 seconds left in the 4th quarter, was an awesome game.
that's awesome! is that the mike brown game winning interception return game too, or was that different?
yep he did it in back to back games. Against the 49ers and then that game against the Browns.
So how can we salvage a good draft pick to get that WR from Texas Tech?
Losing out.

DMBZeppelin
12-01-2008, 01:21 AM
Looking we currently have the 15th pick (6-6). If and only if we lose out, we might be able to sneak into the top 10.

We play Jacksonville (4-7), Saints (6-6), Green Bay (5-7), and Houston (4-7). So everytime we lose to them, we could literally be moving up at least one draft choice.

yeah orton isn't great, but he did have a couple big drops

Yeah, and he also should've had 5 interceptions instead of the 3. I know it's frowned upon to do but I don't care, if you take away Hester's 65yd TD then Orton is 10/28 for 88 yds 1TD and 3INT...fucking pathetic he is.

JTRocks

yeah but if you're gonna do that, you could also say that a couple of those INTs that were tipped and fell into the minnesota's hands werent really his fault then either. The bottom line is this, the bears looked like shit yesterday and if they made the playoffs, they wouldnt really deserve to be there and would probly get their asses kicked. When they bring up the graphic for NFC playoff picture they show 10 teams (6 that are in and 4 bubbles teams) and the bears are easily the worst out of all those 10 teams.

this season is panning out exactly like i thought it would, we hang around for most of the season, but in the back of everyones mind they this team isnt a true contender, and then we end up with another mid-first-round draft pick for jerry angelo to fuck up.

see everyone in march when we're all talking about what unlucky college player we should draft out of college, who's talent will be wasted by this shitty organization, and will eventually fade into nfl obscurity in 5 years and never be heard from again.

12-01-2008, 01:49 PM
I honestly can see us go 3-1 and the Vikings go 2-2 and wind up in a tie with them...still probably not good enough though. The Bears will have to beat GB to have any chance at a tiebreaker assuming the Vikes beat the Lions. Next tiebreaker would be record against common opponents. Bears have one up right now in Indy...but Min has beat NO, Jax, and Houston already. In other words we basically need to win out and have the Vikes go 2-2 to have any realisitc shot here. UNLESS...the ol' Lions grab win #1 this week. Then we would have the first tiebreaker if we beat the Pack.

I know we won, but what a piss poor second half. We should have won by more then 23-10. The Jags may be worse then the Rams. Look at what the Texans did to them on MNF. You know players always show up for national games. The Jags are just a defeated team, and they look like they don't want to play anymore. You should always blow those teams out, especially when the other team is playing for something.

I look forward to seeing how the Bears handle the Saints on Thursday. The Saints are a HORRIBLE road team. So it should be an easy game. Thing is, if the defense that made every QB look like a Pro Bowler shows up... it could get ugly.

When Clark leaves, Olsen and Davis will make like the sickest tight end combo. Both are atheltic, fast, and good receivers. Except Davis is the size of an offensive linemen. Hopefully that translates to blocking.

I still can't believe he's got that speed with his size. Not to mention that sick one handed grab in the pre-season for the touchdown, I'll always remember it.

If we lose out, we might have a shot at a Top 10 pick. We'll be a Top 15 for sure. If we could get into the Top 10, we might be able to move up and get a guy like Crabtree. We need a real wide receiver, to me that's more important then losing in the first round of the playoffs.

No. We won't. Zero chance, not even worth talking about a silver lining if we DID lose out. Because that's not happening. Crabtree will be long gone before our actual pick.

Mid-First round is all crapshoot. I'll take a first round loss in the playoffs and the #22 pick, over a bad record and #11 any year.

If we get a Top 10, we could trade up. We're not going to go from #22 to say #4. All in all it depends who will be where, and who comes out that determines where Crabtree goes.

I really think sucking for a year or two, and getting some franchise players could change this team quickly. The one and ONLY reason we're even in the playoff hunt is because we had an easy schedule, and the Vikings and Pack didn't live up to expectations. It won't be the worst thing in the world if we make the playoffs, but winning will just make everyone look better.

Why fire Babich he got us to the playoffs? Ect, ect. Losing brings about change, and in our case I think it's needed.

Because the Jags might possibly suck more then the Rams.

I don't see how we've had an easy schedule....? I mean, yeah, we play the Lions twice, and then the Jags and Rams. That's four out of 16. And we've played Indy, Tennessee, Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa, Philly, and Minnesota....those are all good to VERY good teams. I mean, the schedule lately has been favorable and the teams we're playing are pretty mediocre in the second half...but that's because we played an extremely tough schedule at the start of the season. I'm not saying it's an incredibly tough schedule, it's pretty average I would say. But not "easy." But maybe I'm wrong.

And bo, we aren't getting to the playoffs....we'd have to win out. Unlikely with the Packers, Titans, and New Orleans coming up. These are pretty mediocre teams, but lately we can't beat anybody that is even halfway decent.

We really should be in the driver's seat in the division right now if it weren't for those three blown games against Carolina, Atlanta, and Tampa. Holding on to leads in just two of those games would put us in great position.

devilandthelord
12-11-2008, 03:45 PM
Well the Saints don't have much of a defense either, so it could be pretty high scoring as long as the conditions are decent.
I don't think the cold will bother Brees and company, but if it snows or the wind is really nasty it certainly will.
If conditions are bad, the edge definitely goes to the Bears.
However its been a pretty mild day so far in the city. Not even that cold as compared to previous days, and no snow as of yet.

Ya and Rex looked great in 03', 04' and 05' pre-injury. Orton wasn't healthy in the GB game, but since then he's been fine. His ankle isn't causing him to make dumb throws. That's his reads.

This is how the NFL works though. Look at Rex in 2006. First two months of the season he was being called an MVP candidate. But in the NFL defensive coordinators then game plan for you. They figure you out. Then it's your job to adjust.

Now Orton had some success against some bad to average teams. But it looks like teams have figured him out. I mean look at the Vikings game, he looked bad. He looked bad against a defense he knows INSIDE and out. They run a similar defense to us. There shouldn't be any surprises about what he's seeing.

Getting real coaching might be a step in the right direction, but if you got a QB guru. Then I'd rather have Rex then Orton because at his best Orton has never looked as good as Rex. Though in an ideal world, we somehow find a franchise guy in the draft like accident a la Tom Brady.

Ya know...that sucks. We MUST get this coin flip or it's over, pretty much. Yet another wasted opportunity...how many games have we given away this season, again? We need this coin flip.

Ya know...the focus gets put on Bears QB's a lot, but part of the problem is that we have shit for a running game. Forte is a pretty solid RB, but you can only do so much with what you've got for blocking. We've run it, what, 14-15 times tonight? And passed 40 times. I mean, you're going to end up trying to force stuff and the defense is going to know what is going on. There's no balance. Maybe an offensive line should be our biggest concern....?

Seriously, it seems like we have such a shoddy team....it's surprising we've done this well, and should have a much better record than we have...considering the suspect play we've gotten on defense, passing, running, coaching....the list goes on.

Ya know what else is good news?
I feel there's a strong chance that Tavaris Jackson will help the Vikings blow their game against the Cardinals, if Kurt Warner & co. don't beat them all by themselves!

Well, they've got the Williams Wall set to go for the rest of the season...

Confidence in Orton slightly renewed. He led them on a drive...then threw a terrible, underthrown pass to Hester that was clearly a well-thought-out way to get a pass-interference penalty. ;)

Whatever, though, the guy has a much better head than Grossman. He actually thinks about what he's doing. He doesn't let the bad stuff bother him, just goes back out there and keeps playing. Confident but not cocky. He was not good in this game, but it didn't matter. In the end, he drove the team down the field a couple times and got it done when the game was on the line.

Would have liked Brees not throwing two TDs but I like it.

Still do not think wel will make the playoffs. :(

If we win the next two we have a great chance.

Yeah but the division would have been nice. That Minnesota game was crushing....

Not to mention the games we blew at the end earlier this year.

So the Bears brought out their new play last night. Send Hester deep and hope for a pass interference call. Happened multiple times and I like it.
