I pretty much laid it out before the game. The Bears can clinch the division next week. The only game they HAVE to win is the Vikings game. If you can't beat the Vikings then we probably don't deserve the playoffs. Do you see the Bears beating the Vikings? Do you see the Patriots beating the Packers at home? Then you see the Bears winning the division. Which would make the last game of the year pointless.

This whole thing started because you said the NFC North would come down to the last week. I said unlikely and explained why. You aren't confident the Bears will win? Despite the fact they have a better defense, special teams, and QB?
Could they lose every game? Sure in the realm of the "anything can happen" category. I can't explain why you have no confidence in a team that has played very well at times this year. You never seem happy with the Bears in general. So I don't know what to tell you.

Inconsistent? We haven't lost a game since October. Why? Because we changed our play calling to stop getting Cutler killed. It's been a quantifiable difference on how we improved. Today we got killed by a much better and complete team.

i wish i could have blind faith in a team like you!
Bills and Lions have played lots of good teams close. Patriots were trailing the Lions in the 3rd quarter. You can't just hold it against the Bears, but all teams. The Bills also played the Pats close, took many good teams to overtime. Hell it took Stevie Johnson not being right with God to prevent the Steelers from losing to them.

Apparently the stadium has been "winterized". Not sure it be worth it for UoM. I've heard Detroit and Indianapolis are possibilites. One of the Metrodome people said they thought they could get it ready by Monday Night. I don't care what they do as long as they announce a decision soon.

i would say i'm a realistic fan.
if the bears do something good i say so, i even said during the game yesterday that the bears were making a good drive.
i get that the NFC is ridiculously weak right now and anyone can beat anyone.
i think my anger stems from the fact that i've been watching the team under lovie smith for awhile now and i just see them making the same mistakes constantly and nothing about the team makes me think we have any real chance of winning things.
i wouldn't be shocked if the bears made it to the NFC championship game, but i also wouldn't be shocked if they lost in the first round.
do i want the bears to do well? yes i do, but at the same time changes need to be made.

You pretty much complain after every Bears win. I just looked back at post around the Redskins game:
well when you have a 4-1 record and two winable games before your bye week before your schedule gets hard those are HUGE games.
The Bears had issues. Through some coaching changes they fixed some things. During the hard part of the schedule we are 5-1 so far. The one loss came against the best team in football. Sure I've seen you say "Nice play" here and there. If I were to just read your post. I'd expect this team to be 0-13.
i think my anger stems from the fact that i've been watching the team under lovie smith for awhile now and i just see them making the same mistakes constantly and nothing about the team makes me think we have any real chance of winning things.
Being 9-4 makes you think this team can't win games, why? The Bears are far from perfect, but they've shown to be a good team. Why would you be angry at Lovie, or any coach for that matter, if they win? Being anti-Lovie is fine if we're missing the playoffs. He's had a pretty good year coaching, and he's doing it with a team that many expected to finish 3rd in the division.
i wouldn't be shocked if the bears made it to the NFC championship game, but i also wouldn't be shocked if they lost in the first round.
If you honestly think like this, why don't you just enjoy the reason and see what happens?
do i want the bears to do well? yes i do, but at the same time changes need to be made.
What exactly NEEDS to be changed? If the Bears execute they can beat most teams. Again we've won a lot of games. Suffered our first loss since October. Why are you complaining about change?
i don't want to hear a lovie smith press conference where he says "we're still in first place right now" i want to hear some emotion from him
If you hate Lovie for no reason, that's fine. Don't act like he needs to show you anything. How he interacts with the media has ZERO effect on his coaching ability. Lovie Smith is not Ditka. You don't need to scream to be a coach. Screaming and emotion aren't required at all to be a coach. Bill Belichick may be the best coach of all time, and how does he conduct himself? EXACTLY like Lovie Smith.

honestly, my dislike for lovie goes back to 2005 when they played carolina in the first round of the playoffs
steve smith went off in the first half with 5 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown, the bears trailed 16-7.
going into the locker room the reporter asked lovie about steve smith and lovie basically said, we won't change our gameplan, we don't gameplan for 1 player.
so of course in the second half smith catches 7 for like 100 yards and another touchdown and the bears lose by 8.
i realize that's 5 years ago and pretty petty, but that's basically my beef with lovie. he doesn't make adjustments during games. he sets his game plan and live and die with it while other teams adapt.
they even had someone on the score, and old player who switched team and he said the same thing. the team he was currently with would make adjustments, and lovie never did that.

Don't forget that was Lovie's FIRST playoff game as a head coach. But, after a few years it's easy to see that's just Lovie. He doesn't say much. He doesn't openly talk about ANYTHING. I doubt he went into the locker room and said, "Keep up the good work, guys! Let's do the exact same thing next half!" You have to read between the lines with Lovie.
Think about the QB situations. "[Insert name here] is our QB." A lot of times he is towing company line or flat out remaining faithful with his players. Maybe that's not best way to respond to the media. But, I admire Lovie's stiff upper lip and self control.
Jerry Angelo has a very strong influence on this team. Lovie is not the GM and doesn't pretend to be. He doesn't seem like the best coach in the NFL. But, he sure as hell isn't the worst coach. I'm rooting for Lovie and this Chicago squad to succeed. He seems like a decent guy and is well respected by his peers. What else can you really ask for? Tons of coaches fail, then succeed. Just so happens Lovie has a chance to do it without getting fired. Hell, maybe he'll blow it again. But, you never know. I sure as hell never imagined Eli Manning and the Giants winning a Super Bowl until it actually happened.

Lovie became a head coach in 2004 and along the way he's made many mistakes. I think last year he became one of the fastest coach to (x) ammount of wins. Faster than Belichick and some other good coaches. It hasn't been all bad though. You can ask Tid about this, but I know both of us have talked at length in the past about how much we hated what you're talking about, against Carolina.
As a result of that game we did start to put Tillman on a single receiver for a whole game in future seasons. Lovie has for sure been stubborn about some things, but a lot of coaches are that way. I fully supported cleaning house at the end of last season. Give Lovie credit for this year. He's made tons of adjustments this season, and put together a good his best staff.
He doesn't say much. He doesn't openly talk about ANYTHING. I doubt he went into the locker room and said, "Keep up the good work, guys! Let's do the exact same thing next half!" You have to read between the lines with Lovie.
Lovie being Lovie is why all the players love him so much. You never hear players speak ill of Lovie in any way, shape, or form. When people hang Lovie out to dry his players will always say "It's not him. It's us. We need to execute." It be pretty easy to lose a locker room when you don't make the playoffs from 2007-2009.
Jerry Angelo has a very strong influence on this team. Lovie is not the GM and doesn't pretend to be. He doesn't seem like the best coach in the NFL. But, he sure as hell isn't the worst coach. Lovie isn't a genius like Belichick, but few are. I agree with you 100% about Jerry. We've seen when Lovie has had the players, we win games. Have you ever looked at a Bears team in recent years and have said "They under performed. Lovie should have gotten more out of this team." ? I think if you combined Lovie with a strong GM you'd find yourself in contention every year. We need a GM who can build us a good d-line and o-line.

Quite possible the Pack and Bears can make the playoffs now in either way. Maybe drop this game, win next week.. and we'll win the next two, and that last game can be playing for the divison/wild card. Id love that

Nah, I don't like that idea. Hey, maybe the Pack can pull one out of their injured-beyond-belief asses and win out, and take the division :rolleyes
most likely not, but I'll take the next 4 or 5 NFC North titles.

Eh, I dunno about that. He's not the best coach, but he definitely has made a few bone head calls. A healthy Packer team is easily a top 3 team in the league on paper. Considering what the team as done this year with 13 players on IR, I believe very much in dominating the next few seasons.

The field is as hard as concrete an hour and a half after they took the tarp off, and anyone that hits their head is getting a concussion.

I find it interesting that the NFL can claim an emphasis on player safety, and then tell us the field is fine. It's beyond hypocritical.

To everyone - that was a totally serious post on the field conditions. It is like walking on concrete. They took the tarp off at the same time they'll take it off before the game. The problem isn't heating it, it's retaining that heat.
