From the Adam Schefter's 10 spot:
4. Cutler rates high: The Bears' Cutler is questioned for some of the throws he makes. But over the past seven games, few quarterbacks have been hotter. Cutler's average passer rating over the past seven games is 94.5 -- and that's with a 43.5 rating in the regular-season finale at Green Bay and a 32.9 rating in the snow against New England. In each of the other five games during that seven-game stretch, during which he has thrown 13 touchdown passes and six interceptions, Cutler had a passer rating of at least 104.2. The Packers have kept Cutler in check this season and might again Sunday. But few players as scrutinized as Cutler this season have been this good.

I have watched that Hester Super Bowl return upwards of 100+ times.
Mine currently goes:
1. The entire NLCS 2003. I still remember when Sammy hit the 2 run HR in game 1 to send it to extra innings and being amazed Sosa was clutch.
2. Zambrano No Hitter in Milwaukee - I was there
3. Bears Super Bowl 06
I'd have to think about the others, but the Browns game is in there for sure. Eventually I'd like my list to read:
1. Cubs win World Series
2. Bears win Super Bowl
3. Bears beat Packers in NFC Championship

Jay Cutler may have blown our chance to establish ourselves in this game with that missed pass to Hester early. Good QB's can get the team out of their own endzone. If he can lead us down the field and get a TD we can get back in it.

Fuck this game. The Packers are not this good.
Or maybe the Bears aren't? Your quarterback just quit on your team, we've turned the ball over twice and your shit offense hasn't done shit. Our D has pretty much dominated all game, minus a couple wide open throws by Cutler. You're lucky you aren't down even more.
DMBZeppelin
01-23-2011, 05:04 PM
Yes. He just quit on his team. Like others have said, unless he tore a tendon, broke a leg, has a concussion, you cannot just give up on your team like that. He gave up. Great quarterbacks don't do that.
Please stop defending Cutler like that, it's disgusting. You think he's be out of the game right now if it was 14-14 and he had completed those two passes to Hestery for TD's. No chance.
No chance? I have no idea what the hell is wrong with him. It's not as if the game was over. Big INT return with good field position down 2 scores. It's not as if this is a blowout. Why did he start the 3rd? He could have said no when they went into halftime.
If after the game it turns out he just quit. Then I agree fuck Cutler. Until I hear from him, Lovie, and the medical staff what's going on. If he didn't quit on us during the Giants game, and begged to be put back in. I don't know why he'd quit on us in this game. Just doesn't add up with everything I've seen him do before.

Like I said, if something is really wrong with him to where he absolutely cannot play, then ok. Tom Brady played in games with stress fractures. We have seen Roethlisberger play injured. Sometimes, when it's potentially the last game of your season, you play through injury.

You're right, maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions. But that's pretty hard. If he can still throw the ball, we should be putting him in there and running plays out of the shotgun every time. Better chance of wining doing that than going with Todd Collins.

They can't show him enough on the sidelines. Why can't we see Cutler? Is he on the bike? Is he getting his knee worked on? Is he continuing to stand on the sidelines? It's like a non-story for them.

You do understand being able to stand is not the same as doing a seven step drop? Correct? Things we don't know:
1. What is wrong. Does it hurt? Is is a sprain? Did he tear an ACL or MCL?
2. Who made the call? Cutler or doctors?
If it turns out Cutler just wussed out. Than fuck Cutler. He's one of the toughest QB's I've seen and taken an insane amount of hits while with the Bears. If I find out he's got sand in his vagina. Than fuck him, but he's earned the right for me to be fully informed before I turn my back on him forever.

Yeah, I know the difference. Then alter the offense. Don't do the seven step drop. Adapt. It's not that difficult.

I have a ton of respect for Hanie. The forgotten man, the 3rd quarterback to be put into the game, but he drove down the field twice in the 4th quarter against the Green Bay defense. Maybe if we had put him in to start the second half we could have won. Jay Cutler, I've always liked the guy's skill, but I just don't know what to say. I have lost all respect for the man unless something comes out about the seriousness of his injury. There's just no excuse for quitting on your team like that.

You can look back in this thread. I wanted to draft Hanie, and was happy when we signed him as an unrestricted free agent. Lets keep in mind a couple things.
1. The Packers did not game plan for Caleb Hanie.
2. He threw a pick 6 that wound up being the difference.
I like Hanie a lot. He played better and got us back into the game. Caleb said it best. The only time you get excited over a guy throwing 2 picks is when you didn't expect him to do anything. I'm not ready to put all my eggs in the Hanie basket. Though I do want to continue to develop him as the backup.

The Bears were never expected to win this game. If you guys deluded yourselves into thinking that we would win....I don't know what to say. Maybe if Cutler doesn't played better and connects with Hester a couple of times there's a different outcome. In the end, it was a great game and a great effort by the guys on the field. Hanie played with a lot of heart, the defense came on strong after the first quarter. So, in the end, I am proud of the team.
Comparing this to the Cubs implosion of 2003 is just stupid. That year we were in control of the series, only a few outs away from the World Series. Those two losses just hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt awful for a few weeks after that happened, and I know other Cub fans who felt the same way.
And, if Cutler tore something in his knee, then I will take back what I said. That doesn't change the fact that he played really poorly early on and missed Hester twice on potential TD's. So....he should not be proud of the way he performed.

Kreutz on Cutler's knee: when you tear a ligament, it feels like there's nothing there. It's like it's wobbling & it gives out on you & that's what was happening to him. You can't play with that. He finished a half with it and he came back out and tried to play again. And you just can't. You can keep trying & trying but you can't
I didn't realize Kreutz had his M.D....
If he really did tear a ligament, then alright. I can understand why he didn't play. But I think that people actually want to hear it from a doctor, not a center in the NFL. :lol

Curious now that you know Cutler wanted to play, and with what Kreutz said. Do you feel differently? Or does this fall under Cutler quit on the team?
I ask because I'm sure whatever you think is what a lot of other people will think.

This may be wrong of me but I kinda hope he does need surgery because Bradshaw, Johnson and all the rest of the Fox fucks were acting like Cutler was Vince Young or something. Just laying down for the hell of it.
anyone else see the Bradshaw interviews..."were you surprised / can you believe Cutler didn't come back?" he asked every person that same thing.

I hope I'm wrong about Cutler. If he needs surgery then it proves that myself and countless others were wrong about Cutler.

Like I said before, if it turns out that Cutler tore something or wasn't allowed back on the field, then I don't think he quit on the team. Still, nothing has been confirmed.
But, I do think Cutler deserves a lot of blame. He had chances to get the team into the game and respond to the Green Bay TD's, but those two missed throws were huge. I am just disappointed in him after he had come so far, because those are throws he had been making all season.

Cutler and Lovie said it was doctors call, and Cutler said he wanted to play. Hopes he doesn't need surgery. All we know is it happened in the 1st half and he came out early in the 3rd. But we know for sure he wasn't allowed back on the field.

His throwing elbow having its fucking period would be enough for me to give him a bit of a pass.

The notion that Jay Cutler isn't tough is ridiculous. He tried to fight the training staff to stay in the game with his knee injury.

But....why didn't they keep him off the field to start the 3rd? I mean, they had all of halftime to look at it and make a call. Then he comes out for 3 plays and only then they don't allow him back on the field? I don't get it. It's stupid. They should've pulled him at halftime, given the ball straight to Hanie and had him prepared to be "the guy" for the 2nd half.

Maybe what they saw from him in the third confirmed for them that he was unfit to play.
