The second half schedule is really easy and if the Bears can go 5-3 to start they can basically walk into the playoffs. Even if they go 4-4 to start, anything worse than 10-6 would be disappointing given how easy the last 8 games are.
I truly believe there's no such thing as an easy game in this league. I also don't find anything particularly "easy" about the Eagles, Lions, Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs, or Packers.

Eagles aren't in the last eight games.
Vs. Lions
Vs. Chargers
@ Raiders
Vs. Chiefs
@ Broncos
Vs. Seahawks
@ Packers
@ Vikings (rest starters?)
Sure there's no such thing as "easy", but outside of the Packers who's striking fear into your heart? We get the Chargers and Chiefs in November in Soldier Field. Regardless of how great the offense and defense of the Chargers can be at times. Have you seen how awful they are on special teams the last few years? Hester + Knox against Chargers special teams will be fun for us. The Chiefs don't look to be the 2010 team. Will Jason Campbell pick us apart? How about Tavaris Jackson? The Broncos will be bad. His overall point is the last 8 games are a lot more favorable than the first 8, which is true.

We really have no idea about the difficulty of our schedule yet. You never do. This is the NFL. Teams go from 5-11 to 11-5 in one season. I have no opinion on our schedule at the moment, other than the next two weeks are going to be TOUGH games.

There's been some kind of family emergency with Urlacher's mom. His status for the next couple days is unknown. Bears don't know when he'll be back. Looks like he could be out for Sunday. Even if he does play he likely will have zero practice time, and won't know the game plan. Not a good situation, but hopefully everything is ok with his mom.

My condolences to the Urlacher family. Lavoyda Urlacher was only 51 years old. I can't imagine what he's going through.
"My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest," Urlacher said in a statement. "This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you."

This went down yesterday, and got over shadowed by bad news. I hope he gets another one for this week to pass up Dent.
URLACHER NAMED NFC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LAKE FOREST, IL – Bears LB Brian Urlacher has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 10
tackles, one tackle for a loss, one interception and returning a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown in Chicago’s 30-12 Week 1
victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
The fumble return touchdown marked the fourth time in Urlacher’s career that he found the end zone. It was the first touchdown for Urlacher since an 85-yard interception return on December 23, 2007 versus Green Bay. It was the first fumble return touchdown for Urlacher since a 90-yarder at Atlanta on October 7, 2001. His other touchdown came on a 27-
yard reception at Washington on December 23, 2001.
Urlacher’s interception was the 19th of his career, third most in franchise history among linebackers. He has recorded an interception in nine of his 12 NFL seasons. Since joining the NFL in 2000, Urlacher’s 19 interceptions are fourth most among NFL linebackers.
This is Urlacher’s six Defensive Player of the Week Award, tied for the most in franchise history with Pro Football Hall of Famer DE Richard Dent.

:lol ESPN does this every week to the Bears. I'm guessing last year the majority would've had the Bears at 4-12 or so. I'm not convinced that they are that great, but it looks like the Saints aren't exactly as good as they were a couple years ago.

if you take out the one big play, which the defense hardly ever gives up, and the fumble, then the bears lose this game 16-13. Not to mention the Bears getting no turnovers this week (not including the Tillman fumble, the game was over at that point). We have no idea how bad the injury to Carimi is, if it's even bad at all. The Bears ALWAYS play the Packers well, even when they aren't a good team. to suggest that the Bears have no chance is foolish.

Knee subluxation is same injury #Bears (http://twitter.com/#%21/search?q=%23Bears) RT Gabe Carimi had at Wisconsin. Sidelines him probably next 2 weeks. trib.in/pOxc7L (http://t.co/ZlCYaQcK)
2 hours ago (http://twitter.com/#%21/BradBiggs/status/115867103503982592)
Bears tackle Carimi to miss time with knee injury (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-injuries-could-create-holes-in-bears-offensive-line-20110919,0,296663.story)
Carimi suffered a knee sprain, according to Smith, but an NFL (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/national-football-league-ORSPT000007.topic) source said the player has a knee subluxation (a partial dislocation), an injury he suffered previously at Wisconsin.
The good news is that there is no ligament damage. The bad news is Carimi likely will miss the next two games vs. the Green Bay Packers (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/green-bay-packers-ORSPT000042.topic) and Carolina Panthers (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/carolina-panthers-ORSPT000035.topic). He left the stadium Sunday night wearing a brace, and said he was confident he would be OK.
During a four-year career as a starter for the Badgers, Carimi missed only three games, all during his sophomore year. This development will thrust Frank Omiyale (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/frank-omiyale-PESPT0014048.topic) into a starting role.
Guard Lance Louis (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/lance-louis-PESPT0000008664.topic) (sprained right ankle) didn’t practice last week and could miss another game as well.
“We have a few injuries on the offensive line but we’ll just have to plug other guys in and keep that rolling,” Smith said.

Bears will be fine. Lovie said he was going to have "the talk" with Martz about balance. If we do that we'll be good. The Bears have given up 11 sacks over the first two weeks. That's the most sacks a team has given up in 2 weeks since the 49ers in 2008... when guess who? Martz was their coordinator.
There was some kind of stat how we won our last 8 of 11 or 12 games. In all the wins we had ran more than passed. Because what happens we we pass a lot? Cutler gets kicked in the throat. The Bears need to run the ball, play defense, play special teams, and keep games close. We still need Cutler to make big throws, keep drives alive, and move the ball with his feet when he can.
It's possible to win in the NFL by passing a majority of the time. Feels like the Patriots do that, and Brady usually has all day in the pocket. Until the Bears can block it that won't happen. I think Martz needs to allow audibles in this system. I know his philosophy is that there's a solution for everything in every single play. Cutler is a smart guy. If he sees the passing play has no chance let him go to a run.
It's just unfortunate that Martz almost refuses to evolve. He obviously has a brilliant offensive mind. He doesn't seem to adapt his system to the talent he has, or focus on protecting players. Be it his QB or a bad offensive tackle. I don't understand when he sees Cutler getting killed play after play how he doesn't come to the conclusion "well maybe we should try a run."
The Packers have just gotten lit up in the passing game for 2 weeks straight. I wonder if Martz will see this on film and just go nuts again against the Packers. Could be scary.
