So: Chris Harris = Joke. Hester = joke of a receiver. Entire O-Line = absolute joke. Roy Williams = washed up joke. Davis = Joke, so glad we got rid of Olsen..., Garza = half as good as Kruetz. Sanzenbacher(sp) = too short to ever be a good receiver.
Our entire passing and block team on offensive is a absolute joke.

I watch a LOT of games around the league. Only the Bears look this bad on offense. Part of that is because we give Cutler no control of the offense. He's not allowed to audible. We're the only offense in football who doesn't want a receiving tight end. I mean guys like Brady, Rodgers, and Brees all heavily use them... why should we? I just hate how we waste what potential we have.

Lovie is obviously not the best coach ever, but he doesn't make too many egregious mistakes. Not kicking a field goal early was stupid but had we gotten the first down it could have given us the momentum early. And the fact is, it's not Lovie's fault that Angelo doesn't go out and sign some offensive linemen.

Lovie also runs the system you want in the modern day NFL. You want a system that only has you rush 4 linemen. Blitzing is a hard thing to pull off in this day and age. QB's will just pick you apart. We just need the players to run this system.
The only man responsible for Cutler going 3+ seasons without protection is Angelo. This is the same man who told us: No team did more to improve their offensive line than the Chicago Bears this off-season. Defense is old? Well who's responsible for getting youth. What team besides the Bears redshirts picks in the top 3 rounds? The defensive tackle you took in the 2nd round should be starting right now. If he's not good enough to be active then that's a terrible pick.

Couple thoughts from the game:
1. I love cutler. I mean i love him. He is an awesome quarterback. In 3 years he hasnt had a legit #1 or #2 receiver or a legit offensive line. He keeps so many plays alive with his pocket awareness and he can make a lot of throws. Sure he makes some bad throws sometimes but a lot of them wouldnt have to be made if the offensive line didnt give him 2 seconds or he had a wide receiver.
2. Pay Forte. He is singlehandedly keeping this team in a lot of games.
3. I have never seen a wide receiving core that sucks this much ass. They are fucking terrible. Devin drops a touchdown, Knox is invisible, Roy Williams should be arrested for robbery, Sam Hurd is sam fucking Hurd, Sanzenbacher is not ready half the time. These guys fucking suck ass.
4. Brandon Merriwether should be cut. He is fucking garbage. Chris Harris tonight garbage.
5. Everyone not named Julius Peppers on the d line WHy dont you get some pressure? Good idea.
6. Lovie Smith garbage. Kick the field goal, If you do want to go for it maybe DONT FUCKING RUN IT RIGHT AT FUCKING SUH, DONT then CHALLENGE a ball spot when there is 0% chance it gets overturned. This guy is a fucking joke with challenges. He wants to challenge that and not challenge the touchdown vs. Washington last year.
7. Devin Hester i will give you a pass but you did not have your best night returning kicks or punts tonight. It happens
8. Offensive line just turn in your keycards. Frank Omiyale should be released tomorrow. Jamarcus is a fucking joke. Seriously there is this thing called a snap count. FIGURE IT THE FUCK OUT. its really fucking hard to advance the ball when they can send 4 and only 4 pretty much all day and still just make Cutler have no time.
9. Defense looked old as shit (They not only bent but they fucking broke) I cant remember two plays of that long in any game in a long fucking time if ever.
10. All around shitty day. If i was jay cutler and Matt Forte i would be pissed they played their asses off while everyone else was fucking garbage.
Shitty fucking game. Based on the schedule i am seeing 8-8 but with a chance to potentially go 10-6 if carimi comes back and earl plays well when/if he comes back.
But that could be a disaster cause this team needs some talent in the trenches on both sides and someone who can catch a fucking pass. Just fucking pathetic.
Fire Angelo too

Firesale. Fire everyone you can. Cut and release anyone you can. Tell Martz, if he doesnt throw over the Blitz... Just threaten to kill Martz. There was one play yesterday where Cutler snapped the ball and immediately threw over the blitz to Davis. If we utilized more plays like this, the pass rush wouldn't be nearly as effective against us.
If the snap count issue is not fixed by next week, line them up against a firing squad and tell them if they can block the bullets they can keep their jobs.

Hub Arkush had a good idea for the o-line. Williams sucked at left tackle and guard, but was ok at right tackle. He said Carimi would probably play great at guard. Garza is best at guard. So you have Spencer or Edwin Williams at center. I'd personally go with:
LT - J'Marcus Webb
LG - Gabe Carimi
C - Chris Spencer
RG - Roberto Garza
RT - Chris Williams
It's not great but at least you won't see Lance Louis or Omiyale. Carimi could probably come back sooner if he didn't need his full range of motion like he would at tackle.

Bears best offer to Matt Forte was about $6 million a year (http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2011/10/bears_best_offer_to_matt_forte.html)
Just before the regular season, the Bears best offer to running back Matt Forte was believed to be worth about $6 million per year, with $13 to $14 million guaranteed.
On Monday, before kickoff of the Lions-Bears, general manager Jerry Angelo made clear that Forte was the team's top priority.
"We anticipated Matt having a great season like he's having. It isn't new. That's why we did what we did," Angelo said. "I don't want that message to get lost, that we were trying to do something before we felt Matt was going to be good."
But there's a difference between good and great.
That's the fundamental issue between the two sides. It's unclear how much Forte wanted, but Angelo noted in several instances during the preseason that Forte was not an unrestricted free agent.
In the NFL, a deal that averages about $6 million a season gets a running back closer to good than great. Consider that Steven Jackson and DeAngelo Williams get an average of $8.6 million on their latest deals, while Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson average over $13 and $14 million, respectively.
So is Peterson worth more than twice what Forte is?
But here's another way to look at why Forte balked at the Bears offer, even though he's making $600,000 this season. San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore got a deal that averaged $7 million a year -- back in March 2007.
Gore is a two-time Pro Bowl selection, but he's played all 16 games just once in his six previous NFL seasons and has not been as statistically productive as Forte, which has been documented. Before the start of this regular season, Gore signed another three-year extension that averages $7 million and includes $13.5 million in guarantees.
Even Forte's backup, Marion Barber, landed a contract that averaged $6.5 from the Dallas Cowboys in 2008, when the club projected he'd be a featured back. Barber, though, six
Through five games this season, Forte is now first in total yards from scrimmage with 785, and he's also sixth in rushing yards (440) and seventh in total catches (30).
According to ESPN, he's accounted for a league-high 51.5 percent of his team's total offensive yardage. The next closest player? Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew, at 40.1 percent.
The last NFL running back to finish a season with more than 50 percent of his team's total yardage was O.J. Simpson in 1973.
Asked if he can carry his offense, Forte said, "I've always been prepared to carry the load.
"As a running back, you have to run, catch and block. And whatever they call on me to do, I'm prepare to do. And I've been doing that my entire career. It's not going to change now."
Until he's no longer a Bear, which looks the way things are headed.
Angelo said there's nothing new toward a deal, and Forte's agent Adisa Bakari told the Sun-Times last week that the process dragging on and on will only complicate matters.
"We've stated, from the very beginning, the longer we wait, the more difficult and complicated it becomes."
The Bears, of course, could franchise him at a projected cost of about $8 million for the 2012. But, if Forte continues to play well, they may be best served trading him to another club that will work out a contract with him.
If that happens, though, Angelo would be letting go of arguably his best draft pick - in terms of value and production - during his tenure as Bears general manager. Then, he'd have to find another productive running back.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/chi/chicago-bears) quarterback Jay Cutler (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9597/jay-cutler) expressed belief in the system of offensive coordinator Mike Martz, but he said he wouldn't mind seeing tweaks made to alleviate the beating he's taken.
Cutler revealed the team's protection issues are taking a toll, psychologically, adding he's jokingly asked Martz to make changes to the offense, with more plays designed to get rid of the ball faster.
"I said I'm hoping ... I'd like to see that happen," Cutler said. "At a certain point you're gonna have to evaluate what you can do in the passing game and what you can't do. That's not up to me, though. I don't really want to be under pressure a lot. Physically, [the pressure is] not that big of a deal. Mentally, it just speeds up my clock. I feel bad for Cutler. The guy needs a legitimate offensive coordinator. It just makes no sense to me, why a team would go out and make the big splash to get Jay, but do nothing--literally nothing--positive to help out the offense. The receiving core and o-line is an embarrassment. It really is. Hester and Sanzenbacher actually made a couple of decent catches but we have nobody above a #3 receiver. And we got rid of one of Jay's favorite targets in the off-season for an aging WR who had one single great season.

Marshall wouldn't fit this system at all. He's a perfect receiver for Cutler, but then you'd have a weapon Cutler likes that Martz won't use *cough*Aromashadu*cough* so if you do the trade you HAVE to fire Martz. You let Tice or Day call plays. Except you add in rollouts, boot legs, and 3 step drops. Cutler has been saying this week he wants quick passes. Martz responded to the media he agrees. I'll believe it when I see it.
Cutler put a ton of work into this offseason. He had his footwork down to perfection. Martz was able to destory it in 2 games. 16 sacks will have that affect though. The stations have been saying how do we save Cutler? People seem to be getting it that it's Cutler & Forte against the world. No one else is doing anything.

Yep...I've said this for years. Detroit Lion fans are far worse than anything we've ever experienced from Packer or Viking fans. Anytime they get even a hint of success, they turn into cocky assbags.
When was the last time we had even a hint of success? The first 8 weeks of 07? Before that? 99? 97?

The first 8 weeks in 07 yea, but more accurately it was actually going into the season of so many years in which the talking heads all had the Lions as the "breakout team of the year" all thru the 00s.

You'll get that when you talk to the idiot fans of any team.

No fucking way dude. I can understand being amped and enjoying it, but the fans at ford field were some of the most classless dirtbags I've ever been around. Bunch of rookie fans up there who don't know how to enjoy a game. It was the least fun I've ever had at any sporting event ever. Ill go ahead and assume you are a pile of garbage too if you are defending that detroit trash bandwagon fan base.

I agree. Most the time with any opposition its mainly playful and in good taste. The lions fans were a disgrace. I've never seen such blatant doucheyness from an entire stadium of people.

I agree. Kind of makes me hope they go back to being the Lions. I do love me some Calvin Johnson though.

You have the Pistons and Red Wings. It's not like Detroit teams haven't won before. As a Cubs fan they've made the playoffs 4 times since 1985. One of those times was in 1989 when I was 4 years old.
You know how when a player scores they say "Act live you've been there before?" well act like you've been a fan before that season.

i think that we should win this game tonight. that minn defense looks frisky but i just think we have way more talent than them. maybe our defense will come thru with a few points and we can get some special teams magic.

I hate hockey, and out of the 3, football, baseball, basketball, I'd give up basketball first. Detroit is a football town. I was home for the ALDS and all sports radio talk was about the Lions, during a baseball playoff series.
And I promise you, when the Cubs are good, you'll probably be a little more obnoxious than you otherwise normally would. It's not like Chicago teams haven't won either, so quit the 'whoa is me' shit. The Lions have sucked for a long, long time. They are good now. The fans are going to enjoy it after years and years of ridicule.

we should win this one. i think its obvious we arent going to the playoffs, but i think this minnesota team should be a relatively easy win
GUnit

actually let me rephrase that - not an easy win but one we should get. AP has a history of doing damage, but i dont think that mcnabb has the ability to kill us like their qbs have in the past. stop AP from running wild and we should have this one.

It doesn't make sense. If you want to punish Harris for getting burnt last week (with a Hamstring injury), whatever; but the fact remains that he is the best Safety on the roster.

"Whoa is me"? what does that even mean haha. the lions didnt look too good today when the niners fed them their lunch. in about 3 more wks they will be just what they are - the feel good story of the first few weeks of the year. I cant wait to watch the packers bend them over on national tv on thanksgiving. that will end all of the lions are good talk, and show that they are just competitive. being good and competitive are two different things.

Its a complete indictment on JA that the best safety is Harris, the best WR is Bennett, and the best OL is...? Carimi? If only we had known these weaknesses coming into on the the biggest free agent frenzies of all time! Shit!
