Anyone else excited for the upcoming season? I hope Benson signs soon. I am excited to see what he can do. I am also excited for the return of Brown and Urlacher to the D. This could be a great year!
saygdbye4134

Im so freaking excited for the bears this season. we have alot of potential to actually be a contender this year. We will have Grossman back, and hopefully *crosses fingers and toes* we will have a quarterback that actually plays in every damn game of the entire season. What a concept huh? then we have the additions of Benson and Muhammed (?), that right there is a bonus, plus we finally got rid of terrell, that guy was terrible.
The only thing that sucks is that our conference, is well, pretty damn tough. If i had to pick right now, i kind of have to go with the Lions, did i just say that? you're damn right i did. thier receiving corp alone is enough to make other teams cry. If Harrington can stop throwing to many damn interceptions, they could be nasty. Then there's the vikings. no moss. no worries. Cullpepper threw 39 touchdowns last season, half of those games moss was not even playing. 39 folks, that's only 10 behind that guy in Indiana who looks like he has MS. Then of course, there's the packers. the packers are the packers any way you look at it. i hate the packers, but as a sports fan, i must give props to favre, i mean, he is one of the best in history any way you look at it.
In closing, go bears. go cubs. go bulls. and finally i can say, go blackhawks.

It also sucks that Harrington has Garcia as his backup. That isn't a bad veteran to have coming off the bench. I don't think the Lions will do it. I hope the Bears contend. This season has potential to show the NFL what the Black and Blue division is all about. The Bears D is gonna be sick! Harris and Tank in the middle with Boone, Ogunleye and Alex Brown on the corners! Briggs and Urlacher with Hilenmayer as the Linebackers. And Azumah, and Tillman at the corners with Vasher as a solid #3. Mike Brown and Mike Green in the middle of the d-back, with Bobby Gray coming off the bench. I can't wait!!!!

it will take the offense a year to get to where it needs to be
their defense will be solid
Detroit is much improved this year and GB still havs Favre
the queens are going to suck this year

Come on man, i am a chicago fan. I just want someone from chicago to fucking to something that would bring some sort of championship back to the city. the best thing we have going now is the white sox, im a cubs fan, but i will still root for those guys. but baseball playoffs are highly volatile and very unpredictable. who knows what could happen. I'm sorry for not clarifying in my post, I'm just sick and tired of rooting for "lovable losers." I would rather cheer on a loveable winner.

I'm a Dolphins fan so I know how you feel when it comes to the Bears struggles, but there's no need to be so defensive. You said something and I disagreed. Sure I hope the Dolphins do well this year, but just because I am a fan doesn't mean I am going to say they can contend when they can't.

I'll agree...but I still think that this O has a chance to gel as a team. There are a lot of new faces, and onces they all get used to each other, they could be just good enough to put some points on the board to win. I really do believe in a wild card birth.

I agree. They shafted him hardcore and tried to make him look like the bad guy when really they just decided he wasn't their man. And the sad thing is, Benson has a lot of the same running qualities that A-Train has. I hope he does well somewhere else also.

My cuz lives in Apple Valley and hits up the Bears/Vikes game every year in Minn. He said one year there was some Vikes fan giving him grief, and getting pretty personal about it, almost violent. So in the 2nd quarter, another bears fan of the 300+ pound variety reached down, grabbed the Vikings fan from 2 rows up and dragged the Vikes fan up by him explaining to him the reasons why he was going to leave my cuz, the Bears fan, alone! Gotta love the bears fans that have your back! :lol

1st year I lived here my Dad came up to go to the Bears/Vikes game with me. We were all decked out in our orange and blue. Heading into the game some guy in the horns and braids and loincloth and all walked right up to my dad yelled right in his face "The Bears suck...you're gonna looooooose" and SPIT on his Bears jacket. Defense looked decent...too many penalties on the 2nd string. Was impressed with Orton, but have to tell myself that he was working against a #2-#3 defense. Rex looked good too. And Thomas Jones definately made his case. Benson is going to be kicking himself with the showing that Jones is giving.

Very impressed with Orton. Love the addition of muhammed, love it. that catch on the second drive they had was awesome. Bendon better get back to fucking reality before he loses his job all together. Jones looked good. real good. these fucking rookies and thier "holier than thou" attitude needs tot stop. College is NOT THE SAME as the NFL no matter how many different angles you look at it from. it bigger, faster, stronger, and much more in-depth with the play calling and picking up on blitzes, audibles, etc. Benson needs to either join the team or go play in europe. either way, i really dont give a packer, i mean shit. the D looked tough, though as mentioned before, way too many penalites on the second string. But it's cool, that's what preseason is for.

I hate having a rookie Qb in his 3rd season now. We have seen nothing from this kid, and I have seen a whole lot of nothing from FL QB's in the past. I think of a recent Purdue QB, I think Brees, and I think of anothe Big Ten QB, Brady, not bad company. This kid can tghrow the ball down field, he can get out of the pocket. He WILL be a starter in the NFL soon, here or somewhere else. And knowing the Bears it will be somewhere else.

It was a preseason game and he was playing against a secondary that odds are won't see the field this year. I dont think the answer to our problems is another QB. Would I like Leinart? Hell yes. The answer to our porblems is not more, its anything that works. We lose A-Train for an A-Train replacemnt that wont sign. They need a lot of help, and a starting QB in his 3rd season, thats still a rookie is not a start.

the whole scrimmage/practice game deal to me isnt worth it...cant you tell the calibur of your player by scrimmages within the teams own practice...i like the idea of flag football that the boys do during training camp...but thats just me

I cannot see any way possible that they can turn back to him after this season...It will have to be addressed via free agency or draft again. Please please please be a free agent...I don't want to wait another 3 seasons for a young QB to "learn the ropes".

looking at the schedule, we could easily go 4-0. maybe even 6-0.
the only thing the bears need to be sure of, is that their O-Line is ready to play. All the opposing teams are going to constantly blitzing with Orton running the offense. I am fully confident with our defense.
i wish this game was tonight. Go Raiders....i guess.

i think they should have picked up Peirless Price when he was available last week. I honestly can't recall when we have had two outstanding wide outs, or for that matter someone that could get them the ball.

I never thought of him...I think he is a bum (but that is just because he sucked last year for my fantasy team), but now that you say that he could have been a great #2 on the other side of Muhammed. Hell, even Andre Davis could have been good there. I think eventually, Bradley will be a solid #2 though.
And I think Orton will do decent. I know there will be rookie mistakes, but he looks poised. It would have been nice if Benson had more practice at picking up blitzes.

oh man. don't even get me started on these rookies and their demands. In my opinion, all rookies should get get a fixed amount for their rookie year, let's say 3 million plus incentives (extra cash for X amount of yards, TD's carries, etc). i think that's some pretty fat cash considering you have not done jack shit to prove yourself in the NFL. IMHO, the NFL is a completely different game than college.
I'm not trying to take away from any rookies talent. but let them prove themselves in the NFL, show that they can indeed be a playmaker or at least make a decent contribution to the team, then, and only then, should the contract negotiations begin. just my .02.
but yeah, Benson should be studying plays in every moment of free time that he has. he has to protect Orton. Yes Orton is going to make mistakes. but he can't get discouraged. that's what happened to him last year after the purdue loss to michigan. and his heisman candidacy disappeared like a fart in the wind.

I was starting to think we had the best bad team in the NFL... but I'm not sure the Bears are bad. Orton has been playing well enough to win, and of course the defense is awesome. Another win coming this week against San Fran, and then looking at the rest of the schedule this could be a 9 or 10 win season. Not sure if they're ready for playoff success, but once you get there you never know. Keep playing close games and great defense, and anything can happen (see 2000/2001 Ravens).

If the Bears make the playoffs, it will be in spit of Orton and his league-low quarterback rating. He's the only rookie QB who has gotten significant time, so that alone might be enough to get him the award. I think Ronnie Brown (RB) has played pretty well in Miami.

Chicago 1st in thier division.
and if Da Bears go 13-3 Orton will win it easy, he'll Rothlisberger it.
yeah, but look at wehre these teams are
Tampa third in their divison
Miami 3rd in their divison
Chicago 1st in thier division.
and if Da Bears go 13-3 Orton will win it easy, he'll Rothlisberger it.
And ROY is not based on team performance (in large part). By the way, Tampa is second in their division.
Umm, Rothlisberger was deserving of the award. Besides taking his team into the playoffs, he completed over 66% of his passes, threw for over 2600 yards with 17 tds and only 11 ints. He had a QB rating of 98.1. That's pretty impressive for a veteran, let alone a rookie.

someone name a linebacker better than urlacher this year.
trick question, you can't. he is the best linebacker in the game right now. with briggs, urlacher, and hillenmeyer (when he gets healthy), that could be the best linebacker squad in the NFL.

linebacker?? I'd like someone to name a better defensive player in the league period. The guy is a plow machine, when he started to beat Vick to the gaps and sidelines last night, all I could do was laugh. Its actually quite unfair.... I guess the Bus running him over last week was a bit of a wake up call

What happened to your boy, Kyle "Offensive Rookie of Year" Orton? I thought they didn't look at stats, only wins? He didn't even get a vote.
I think the Bears are a much better team with Rex at quarterback. He could be the difference.

Congrats to Defensive Player of the Year Brian Urlacher and Coach of the Year Lovie Smith! If there's an award for assistants, I have to believe that Rivera will get one too. Sadly, the award may be a head coaching job somewhere else.
Also, I'm glad Orton didn't get any Rookie of the Year consideration. It would have only been a reason to make headlines about our ROY being on the bench. He did a nice job of not being bad enough to lose, but that's not the same as being even average.

There are 50 votes.
It's playoff week!! Bring on the Panthers. Should be a great game. I wish the weather was a little worse, but I'm still expecting a hard hitting, "Bears" type game. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but if the Bears defense plays like it did in the regular season they'll be hard to beat.

I have no fear of the panthers. we have had plenty of time to rest. mike brown should be ready to go and help out up top with steve smith.
our D-line just needs to be ready to stop the run. carolina is a very time efficient ball club. they will run you to death and eat up clock all game. We also need to keep pressure on delhomme, and not wait until the final drive to get to the Qb like we did against Green Bay.
all in all, i expect a solid game. does anyone know the actual game time, i have seen noon and 3:30. anyone know for sure?

Im pretty sure its 4:30 ET so I dont know what it would be in Chi-town.
Im looking forward to this one too, the Panthers D has stepped up quite a bit since the first game, as well as our running game. The big difference last game was the 8 sacks you guys had comming from Jakes blindside, but Trevelle Wharton pretty much blanked Umenyora (sp?) yesterday. If we can play like we did against ATL and NYG the past two weeks, then you guys are toast.

steve smith did own our corners yesterday. that's what happens when you leave single coverage on the outside and you don't get enough pressure on the QB. in the first meeting, we weren't giving them enough time to find smith. completely different story yesterday. oh well, it was a fun run for da bears.

i just emailed espn's jason whitlock. in his column today he says how the steelers' safety troy whatever, is better than urlacher and deserved mvp over him. he went on to say how urlacher made no big plays in the playoff game.
now yes, the steelers guy is very good. yes, the bears defense (secondary) choked. but how do you not consider a red zone interception in a 10-0 game a big play? sure they lost, but i'd say thats a pretty damn big play and could mean the difference between 17-0 and 10-7. what an idiot
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Jason. He almost got into a fight with Keyshawn in the locker room after a Bucs/Eagles playoff game (Dungy's last game as the Bucs' coach).

That interception was incredible, it wasn't necessarily a bad throw by Delhomme, Urlacher just jumped up and slam dunked that ball. I was really impressed by that play.
