Hello all.
I've already posted this before somewehre or other, but after having problems with the links, and being able to correct and yadda yadda yadda, I'm posting it again - SORRY in advance for those of you that that bugs......I really didn't know how else to do it.

anyways this is a cover of grey street done at 2 am so the drums are fairly quiet so as not to piss off the neighbours......it is just drums, guitar and vocals here.

I'm posting to get feedback from the ants community, must apologize for the not great quality, unfortunately it's straight off of a regular tape deck, so a couple of notes really get mangled....

anyways, praise it, rip into it, whatever ya want...just looking for feedback.
thanks,

Ian

I think its cool that your band covers DMB and I know you had problems with it earlier, but the MOD moved it yesterday, so I am guessing they will move it again.

Not trying to bust you but giving you a heads up.

Ill give it a listen when I get my good comp back.

The guitar sounds pretty good, what kind of guitar is it, are you running it through an amp?

nope no amp whatsoever...2 am, just acoustic. we stuffed up the bass drum too to really muffle it.....

it's a taylor guitar, I forget the model number, it's a something like $1200 canadian guitar....so a pretty decent model....and yeah it's got a sweet sound......waaay nicer then the fender dg-6 that I use

Nope, actually I was just singing...I have this problem with singing and playing guitar at the same time - can't do it.....so my friend Brian played for us...

Guitar Sounds Sweet. Drums need some major tuning. I covered that song with a group of guys, its cool. What kind of drums are you using. Either they are really shitty drums or youv gotta tune them different, cause it sounds like he's bangin on construction paper. CYmbals sound good though. It also just may have been you recording set up. Anyway, i dont mean to be too critical. It sounds sweet.

Singing is absolutely terrible and it is killing this recording. And the drums sound isn't very clean either.

Just keep practising on the syncopation between vocals and guitar. It will come. I play quite often at Patrick Sheehans in St. Catharines. I can play The Stone now and sing it at the same time and always get good responses from Dave fans. I also play
Oh
Stay or Leave
Gravedigger
So Damn Lucky (love playing this one)
Pantala Naga Pampa>Where Are You Going
Jimi Thing
Two Step
Grey Street
It's just a point where all of a sudden it starts happening without thinking that much. The syncopation is definitely tricky on some songs. When I play Grey Street I don't think about what my hands are doing and just trust them. Great song to play. If you can play Grey Street you can play so many other DMB tunes. The bridges from LIOG for example, the verse in So Damn Lucky, the intro to Tripping Billies.
Don't know where you learn how to play Dave stuff but if you've never visited http://www.dmbtabs.com then I highly recommend it.

I've picked up a few songs here and there....
proudest monkey
billies
watchtower
stay or leave
two step
loving wings
halloween
typical situation
the jam from liog
the stone
grey street
ants

it's not the syncopation though, I can't even really talk while I play....it's odd.....oh well.

if the drums sound off, it's because it was 2 am so we muted the bass and he was using those broken ended sticks (forget exactly what they're called) to keep the noise down.....

I agree, that's why I put this up here. I wanna hear what people have to say, and I figure the ants community would be more difficult to please then average fan....so the goal is to please the ants...then I'd know average fan can't be anything but pleased....
thanks for all the comments to all.....
keep 'em coming.

You know that's funny hero because I find it easier to sing when I'm playing. I cannot talk to someone whilst playing. Pisses my friends off sometimes. My buddy Clinton knows. When someone talks to me and I'm playing and he's there he'll tell them right off the bat "he'll answer you when he stops playing - you can't talk to him when he plays. He can hear you he just can't answer."
Some nice shows you've been to by the way.
Especially 4:20

I dunno...I mean yeah 4:20 was good...but 4:21 was waaaaay better, aside from the 32 minute #41 with the flecktones 4:20 was a faily average show...and crowds in ottawa are rather blah!

Well, you wanted feedback, so here I go. Drums are shit, guitar is decent, and the voice needs some work.
