I had my second gig opening for my bro's band again. This time, I only got 40 min instead of an hour, but here's the set.

Numba' Three (Original)
New England Night (Original)
Say Hello, Wave Goodbye (David Gray)
Storms (Original)
Old Stone Wall (Original)
Crash (DMB)
Serene (Original)

It was fun. We had a few sound difficulties...the monitor decided to not work for my set (if worked during the soundcheck) so i couldn't really hear myself, but everyone said it sounded fine (thankfully). The crowd kinda sucked though. There were about 130 people in this coffe house that only is supposed to hold 80, so the cowd was very loud...Hopefully, I'll be able to have a cd recorded by the summer (i have more than enough songs, I just need to find the time and money lol). If anyone else has pleyed out recently, post your set. I love seeing what other people play when they gig...

Just curious, but why Crash? Such an obvious choice, when I would think that most people on the board's would pick a more adventurous song.

But I hope it went well!

Good question...lol. Well, the crowd, as I mentioned, was not too respectful and since I was playing all originals and a david gray song that no one there knew, my friend and I decided to throw in a "crowd pleaser". I now know how dave feels when he plays this song. There was a table of young girls in front of me and they all screamed. Very annyoing. I actually said (while I was playing the progression) "geeze, no one screamed like that for any of my originals" (not that I'd expect them to, since I don't have a Cd and I've only played out a few times). In addition, it was an appropriate song to use to dedicate to a friend and his new girlfriend. We thought it would be nice. As for future DMB covers, we'll probably do Pig, Let You Down, maybe Lover Lay down and Grey St. We already do Bartender. I don't really like throwing in more than 2 songs from the same artist in the set (unless its David Gray) since I have enough originals.

Fair enough and I expected as much. That kind of sticks. Hopefully one day you will get the reaction you seek with your originals.

I think Pig is such a kickass solo song!! I don't know why Dave and Timmy don't play it more. It's just a kickass anything song.
