I'm looking for a really cheap way to record guitar on my computer. All I really want to do is record at a decent quality (I'll probably mic the guitar) and make songs that I can burn to cd. I downloaded Pro Tools Free, but when I try to start the program, it tells me "DAE error 1113 has been encountered" and the program closes. I'm running windows xp and the compatibility is for 98/me, but I changed the compatability setting to that in the properties menu. If anyone knows a way I could fix this problem, or even another free computer studio, I would really apprectiate some advice.

-Thanks

The program of which you speak is to my knowledge $300, and I know I could get it at Kazaa, but I don't have Kazaa and I'd rather not get it. Are there any other free or very cheap programs I could use?

Harmony-central.com (or harmonycentral.com) They have a downloads area. Just look around for it. They have freeware or downloads.com as well. Most of these programs have disabled functions such as no save or cut and copy, but you'll probably be able to find SOMETHING that you could use.

You have to HAVE to have 98 running on your computer. You can't trick ProTools running in compatibility mode.

If you want to do some nice recording and don't have alot of cash just buy an Mbox

A ProTools TDM/HD system is going to run you about $20,000, in retrospect, 500 bucks isn't that bad.
