These Tabs are from DMBTABS.com...
Rhythm Guitar part for this song doesn't seen right?
These Two Chords Don't sound right, if you listen to a dave and tim cover the first chord sounds ok.. the second one seems totally off. Maybe I'm completely wrong and Im just not hitting it right? anyway.. any help would be greatful. i.e. different Chords to play?
Peace,

I don't know how interested you are...but....
try looking up Lyle's version. If memory serves me correctly, I think he throws a capo on at the 5th fret. For me I would have to pull out some Vise-Grips to sing that high.....(you don't have to do that)
I dabbled with the song for a while but I just played it in standard tuning. Granted, I was working on the song from Lyle's version. It seemed easier than the tabs you have.
It didn't matter to me....although it might to you.
I'll investigate what I was messing with more when I get home this evening.

Thanks man, I had already done what you said but after reading your post i went back changed the tab for the first chord.. the second chord is still off though.. I'm more interested in playing this in standard tuning with no capo fingering is not a problem for me, that second chord still doesn't sound right with the dave cover though.. If i can't find a chord that sounds right.

nah I think both chords are bang on.. if you think about it, the song is in E, and those two dave chords are F# and B (in a 'G' shape moved up four frets)... and they sound dead on. sometimes for the second chord, which is the one you think sounds off, I play this instead (just add the 'B' root note)
E:------------
B:---7-----7--
G:---6-----x--
D:---x-----4--
A:-4-4-----6--
E:---------7--
I know it didn't line up but you get the gist of it...

Hey man, well....I created the tab so I guess I should help clear things up. I did tab the song from a video of Dave playing it so the chords are def right. I wish I could give you more help on getting the strumming right. Maybe one of your strings isn't in tune w/ the other and something sounds wrong?
Anyway, sorry that I can't be of more help and I hope you get it....good luck and keep practicing!

I saw lyle play this on TV a while back and he had a capo but it definitely wasn't up that high, second or third fret if I remember. His version was pretty close to daves, with less energy.

The dmbtabs chords are all about the muting during the strumming - much like Dave's whole guitar ethic. I have become 1000 times a better guitarist by playing Dave tunes and learning them through dmbtabs - especially with the muting whilst appearing to strum ALL strings. If you get just the three fingers and mute the others
ie low e-string muted with thumb, mute the g-string with your 2nd finger that's on the 4th fret d-string and mute the high e with your 4th finger that's on the b-string 7th fret. This should give you the sound you are looking for when you're strumming full out.
Hope it helps?

Jared you are a godsend. Your site is wonderful. Thank you so much for what your site has done for me in the last 6 months. Getting up at the local and playing and singing The Stone and actually pulling it off is SO rewarding and gets great compliments. I always encourage people I meet to visit your site.
