I thought itd be kind of neat if there was a thread for musicians to give other musicians tips and ideas about their bands.

Haha, thats my first mistake. I've only been playing for a year. At least everyone elsein our band are novices too. Plus, its only a high school band. No big deal really, we still havent gotten together and we've "supposedly" been in the band for quite some time.

ok....dont join a band run by a drunk...

and dont record songs that you wrote with a band and not have down in writing that they are YOUR songs and not the band's. I got dicked on about 5 of my songs...they still play them...and actually got the rights to them.

Get involved in bands with people that are better/more experienced than you are. There are sooooo many good musicians out there that can teach you so much. Believe it or not, church is a great place to find a buttload of great musicians who are willing to show you stuff.

If you really want to be successful, you have to be ready to sacrifice other things in your life if the situation calls for it.
