I've been trying to learn how to play guitar for the past year now.
When I first started I didn't really have the time to practice alot. Now that I've had some extra time on my hands, I got an instructor about 6 months ago. I had lots of trouble learning the chords, so I figured I'd stop going until I got better because it was a waste of money to pay $10 for an hour to go over the same thing over and over again.

My main problem is with fingering. I play drums and piano, so I think the Idea of moving my hands in that way is a little bit foreign to me. I'm just curious if anyone else has had any of the same issues, and/or has some advice to help me get better at this. I can tune my guitar and I can play single notes flawlessly. It’s just the movement from one note to the other that I have a problem with.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx,

moving between chords only takes one thing:

PRACTICE.

and for some more advice....please read the 2nd page of the "guitar theory" thread.

I just put up a long post on "Guitar Dos and Donts"

it will help you with your instructor issues.
