Hey all, ive been able to pick up every dmb song i have attempted to play and for some damn reason i cant pick up recently. im talking about the beginning after the opening cords. it seems as though the tabs on dmbtabs.com are different from every version i listen to. ive compared it with the folsom field dvd and it just doesnt match up. any helpful comments?

He really lays on heavy with little touches in that bit. Just poke around yourself with what it sounds like, some small chords and a few slides... I'm doing alright, though no where near well enough for a solo >>;

Did you read my post at all? o_o; Just throw in some mutes and scratches and faster strumming, and you'll get it soon enough

Yeah I thought I've had it down for a long time, but I really listened closely with headphones not too long ago and found out I was playing at a completely different rhythm...well not completely...it still worked out the way I played it, but...yeah I dunno...that song bothers me.

The tabs are not what he plays completely as I have seen live and noticed when playing the song.

From everything I've seen(MULTIPLE video's).....what Dave plays is what I have on the site. It also does state to throw in mutes and combine some notes at the end on the tab.
Anyway, hit me up so we can get the best tabs......lata

Some variations I play:
E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:----4--------x-----0-----
D:-------0--3--x-----5----
A:-------------x--/3--------
E:-3-----------------------
E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:----4--------/5-x---------
D:-------0--3-----x--5--5--
A:----------------x--------
E:-3-----------------------
the x's just denote a scratch. Mute all strings, or at least that's what I do. Just have fun with it :D
Edit: Feel free to use any of it, I'd love to help people. I think these sound a little bit more jazzed up than the normal, just gotta find the right tempo. You might try adding 16th note scratches in with the beginning bars or using
E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:----4--------x-----------
D:-------0--3--x--0--3/5--
A:-------------x--0--------
E:-3-----------------------
the open 2 string chords sound right...

Don't forget to smack that guitar.
A little bit of tapping on the body of the guitar
will take you a long way into the rhythm.
Two step works out particularly well with
that technique. You can't exactly make up
for the lack of Carter, but you can go a long
way toward getting the right rhythm.
But then, I'm a finger picker not a pick plucker.
