you know people need to relax about no new york shows. i'm from long island, yeah i'm disappointed there's not anything. but you know there's still dates to be added that could mean spac or a festival. maybe even the continental like last year even though i don't think so. msg is more of a winter venue so i doubt they will have a stop for a summer tour there. summer is for more open venues. i personally would love to see a return to giants stadium, i can only hope for that. but anyway enough bitching who knows what will be added. worst case there's no new york shows and they go to msg for a winter tour, no big deal. that's all i gotta say.

I just wonder when those dates will be added and when. If they were to add a michigan show before dec. I wouldnt go to blossum or polaris. eh well road trip could be fun.

I love the fact that they are skipping over this place this year.... way overrated imo. Just a real pain in the ass as far as a comfortable concert experience is concerned. Much more surprised that they skipped over Shoreline this year.... what a great amphitheatre that place is..... a tour without San Fran will not be the same this year.
The only pain in the ass is leaving , and I'm usually happy after the concert so it doesn't even bother me . Throw on some music and relax

all these rumors about an early july spac 2 nighter dont look to promising
available dates at SPAC are :
06/28 - free for the band but in between 2 shows..so not likely
06/29 - Blossom
06/30 - Toronto
07/1 - OPEN
so you say ok 07/01 - 02?

the only thing keeping me optimistic is that last yr spac had some opera stuff scheduled for the dates the band played in aug, and they never changed the calender to DMB...cuz there is no way opera packs the amnt of people in that amphitheatre that DMB does over 2 nights. do the right thing SPAC!!!!!!! lol

I know many are disappointed about Saratoga but they will be in that area and New York has never been let down by DMB. Want to try real Misery? How about 2001 when they skipped the whole state of Ohio! A state they usually have 5-6 shows in a year. I have a feeling we will see some more dates. Seems sort of a light schedule for them.
2001 was a terrible year for me! not one show! :( but its ok cuz they played alot of the everyday CD :lol just kidding he he he

For the love of God, everyone take a deep breath. I'll bet they are gonna hit Shoreline and SPAC. Even if they don't, you'll just have to f'ing travel to see them. I wish they would have scheduled a show in my dorm room, it would have been convienent as hell. You ought to be glad you get to see them at all. They could have said to hell with the fans, we'll take a summer off. Or you could be Marc in Uraguay. How's that for inconvienent?
Actually, I thought they would schedule a couple nights in my backyard but that didn't happen. Probably didn't cause it would be an all-lawn seat show. Oh well, maybe next year.

(Ok here we go, had to fix the way the calendar was showing up in Internet Explorer)
In figuring out which shows I want to go to, where the band will be on any given day, and what the Warehouse ticketing dates are, I made up a summer tour calendar. If anyone else is in similar need, you can get it from:
http://olderthaniwas.com/DMB/DMB_Concert_Calendar.htm
A kind soul just sent me her extra WH package, which was just awesome of her to do (thanks mona!) so I thought I'd do my little part to give back to the dmb community.

If you would look at the SPAC schedule closer, the opera is there 7/2 and 7/3. BUT, the opera is not in the ampitheater, it is in the SPA LITTLE THEATER. The Ampitheater is open from 7/1 thru 7/5. So there is a good chance...

Hartford is a double edged sword. On one hand, Hartford and the Meadows are both very dirty. On the other hand, the band seems to put on very good shows there (we'll just forget about 2003). My advise; go to the Meadows and pay no attention to the hordes of dumb people.

Mansfield owns. The lot can be a little tough to get out of. I got premier parking last year and was on 95 South in a half hour from the minute the show ended. Just haul ass after the last note and you'll be fine (then again that's what made me miss the second encore in Providence). Sound is great, lighting is cool. Haven't been on the lawn (knock on wood) yet so I don't know how it is. The 2 nights last year were insane, I'd definitely recommend going back.

Got a quick question about ticketing. I'm going to request the Selma show through warehouse 'cause I know I'll get tickets. I think I'm going to try and get The Woodlands show through ticket master:violent, just so I know I will get both shows.
My question is... does ticket master tell you when tickets will go on sell, or is it something that you have to just keep checking? I know it's far away, but I was just wondering.
i read somewhere that tickets for warehouse should go up in a week and ticketmaster one month later

Why go to Darien Lake and not stop anywhere else in NY? Darien Lake itself, the parking, the walking to the venue, the lines to get inside venue and everything about Darien Lake is the armpit of NY. Last year the band didn't seem like they enjoyed playing there, why on earth would they go back. It is such a terrible place. Very disappointed to see that stop on there tour!

we all know people are angry, but it has gone on too long. if no show at SPAC gets you this upset, then some people need to take a serious look at their priorities in life.
During the summer, going to concerts is like a mini-vacation for me. You get to get away from work and home, take to the road, shack up in a hotel and see some great shows. Therefore, it's a high priority (also, any of us with a significant number of posts shouldn't talk about priorities). Lack of SPAC this year really stinks because I have a great time there. Of course, I will improvise and see shows else where, but it still sucks.
Furthermore, how has this gone on too long?? The dates have only been out for 3 days. Just imagine how long the complaining would go on for if the precious Gorge had no shows.
the way i look at it is this: you are still seeing shows. you should feel lucky. the closest show to me is a 10 hour drive. the only show here in canada is an 18 hour drive.
but you don't see me complaining that there weren't shows closer to me.
BustedJeff
02-22-2004, 10:24 PM
It's definately understandable from your perspective. Still, there are a lot of people within range of SPAC who were itching for some shows there who aren't actively thinking about the less fortunate. It's sort of like driving away from Taco Bell complaining about how they close the drive through too early, while there are starving people overseas.
For some mild complaining to be the most annoying thing on a message board really sings praises about this community, however.
18 hours is a long drive.
slfairless
02-23-2004, 10:49 AM
Good grief! I am bummed that there is no Michigan show so are you know going to compare that to you having to drive to 18 hours to see a show in Canada? IMHO, it's none of anyones damn business to tell me or anyone else how they should feel about the dates. If people want to be disappointed about SPAC or anything else, they have that right as you have the same right to avoid this thread.

it actually could of. the darien concert is 3 days after i return home from an all week soccer tournament, so i lucked out.
i see what you mean by driving to a show, and have nothing against it, i'd gladly drive 5-10 hours for a show, but don't have the chance to as of now.
it's just that some people become so accustomed to certain things and take them for granted. i mean by now, you almost guarntee yourself to drive to a show? where as i count on SPAC due to tournaments. but i see what you're talking about

yeah they tell you march 24 - public onsale is march 27. they won't tell you seat locations though - they only say if you get lawn or pavillion. you don't find out locations basically until fed ex delivers the tix.
they tell you seat locale before fed ex, not sure if before sale date...

It would be awful if they don't get to SPAC. It is the greatest place to see a concert. I am noticing a gap from June 30 - July 6th. I bet two SPAC days will fit in nicely there. ;) Does anyone know if the band has anything else planned for those dates?
I checked with the spac Calandar (http://www.spac.org/calender/index.html) and they have july fourth and fifth open......maybe a fourth of july weekend?

SPAC won't happen now. At least not unless they do a early fall one where they can still do an out door one. But I highly doubt they are going to add another series just for that show.I think its time for everyone to admit its not happening this summer.

Sorry man I think you're wrong.......remember Clear Channel marches to the beat of a different drummer on a constant basis (i.e. Stern)......its kind of the cornerstone of their company.....I think something will be released in the next two weeks.

true. but in the end it is just a concert.
Agreed! Most of the people on this thread are young, mostly unattached (no husband/wife and kids to worry about) and can travel to see the band in any venue in any city and are lucky to have most of these in the U.S.
I live north (only 1 concert in my city) and have a family. I doubt that my family would agree to a vacation that would involve DMB concerts.

You might be right but if they do release it I think some people who already made different plans and requested other shows are going to be pissed. I know I would just suck it up and go to that one as well, like many will do, but you know there will be some people in here who will bitch up a storm. And those people will call the warehouse and complain like no other. It could very well happen but the warehouse will be in for some phone calls. People look for reasons to complain, and there will be one(if not more) of thsoe I hate the warehouse/I am quitting the WH threads. we'll see.

which is total BS...I highly doubt its the WH's fault..and thats even if there is still a possibilty of a SPAC show. If they could announce that there is a spac show they would. Ticket sales are this bands bread and butter. If they cant announce it yet due to SPAC rules they have to honor that as well, to prevent SPAC from not trusting the band. If there is going to be a SPAC show, we will know ASAP.

I agree its not the WH fault but you know its gonna happen right? I am not saying a lot of people will but I just have a feeling a few people will. People want to put the blame somewhere and their complaint will be "if they were a good fan club like Pearl Jams it would have got done sooner" or something like that. I am upset Mich. isnt getting a show but there could be some of the same reasons for that too. I will deal with the drive to Cuyahoga and hope for a winter tour.

I spoke to someone from SPAC (actually Clear Channel Saratoga) the other day and they said that they release the dates as they are confirmed. She said they will start announcing concert dates the beginning of March. So there still may be hope.

Even though it looks as if SPAC's lineup is filled up, many dates will be opening up. The NYC ballet will more then likely not be performing at SPAC this year. There is hope that Dave will still play.

i just thought a lot more shows would be sold out by now. places like polaris, starlake, blossom, only hold about 20,000.

but wouldn't it make more sense that the smaller venue be sold out first? i think that is his point.

yeah that's what i was trying to say. obviously gorge and alpine are really popular venues to go to, but i thought it was wierd that the smaller ones that sold out last year pretty quick aren't sold out yet.
