Weather question...

Is it still pretty hot there in early September? And how about at night, does it get cold?

The nights can get very cold...especialliy if you are up on the lawn. On 9/7/02 I was almost in tears it was so damned cold. Bring a jacket for sure. During the day you'll think it's hot and be fooled by everyone in summer attire.

After roasting all day in the sun there, I always welcome the chill at night.

*Deep breath* I did it. I requested my tickets, one for each night at the Gorge. So much money, even though I have it, I feel bad about spending it, but I want to go!! Positive/encouraging PMs more than welcome. :)

God do I need a job!

There are worse things to spend money on...like drugs...or a contract killing! See, you are helping out society by not killing people and going to the Gorge!

I speak for all of society when I say: Thank you for not killing us.

Eh. It's not gonna happen for me this year. I could spend the money, it just doesn't look like I'd be able to replace it and I need a car. It would be foolish. So, I cancelled my WH requests for that. I feel better. :lol Someday I might.

Just wondering what the prices for lawn and reserved seating are for the three Gorge nights, if they are on the Dmband.com site somewhere I can't find them.

Thanks in advance for anyhelp you can give me.

Are you in the Warehouse, cuz you can go to Ticketing and click on Order Tickets or Place Order or whatever and just not actually continue and buy anything.

If memory serves (I placed my order a few days ago) reserved are 59.90 and lawn are like 47.90...that might be Warehouse lawn seating though.

Oh, and Jared - that's awesome you are goin to the Gorge!! OKState must represent.

Seems like renting a car is the way to go.

I'm having a buddy pick me up on Saturday morning, though.

Seattle has its own bus system and then there is a regional bus system that can get you out of Seattle.

Definately rent a car, taxis are good for just going around town if you are splitting fares but you would have ride a Greyhound to get to the Gorge as it is a solid 3 hrs away. Try priceline.com to see if you can get a cheap car rental, I have had great success on paying half price for car rentals

Well count me in for the weekend. It's my birthday weekend so I'm doing this as a present to myself. I'm making the trip all the way from Chicago and spending $395 in tickets alone (pair for each show). I know it'll be worth it though, it's just money afterall  It looks like I'll be hitting up Columbus for the 2 shows and then heading out west to wrap the summer up. So if anyone wants to make a donations to my cause let me know!!! Maybe we'll get a repeat of '02 and I'll finally catch Halloween :evil

i promise you that if you show up to the gorge w/ tickets for at least one night, you'll be able to get on the lawn for around $30 each night. you may be able to even score a seat for that price. there were a zillion people selling tickets and hardly no one buying (who wants to be stuck in the parking lot?). lots of product, no demand = ticket prices dropping.

There isn't anything in Moses Lake thats good. haha
Lets see...I got a lecture about what Jesus wants last year while I got my hair cut there during the day. That was my favorite.

They have a casino...if you want to call it that. It has like 4 tables. Thats where I was in '02 before the show, not knowing Dave and Jason Mraz would be playing in the friggin parking lot!! CURSES!

Ummm...the breakfasts at Perkin's restaurant are pretty good, even though the service is slow sometimes.

They do have a Starbucks though!

Don't know about your hotel though.

We did Moses Lake in 2002. There was a fine gentleman by the name of Price that set up a Charter Bus that took us from the Best Western in Moses, to the Gorge and back each night. It really made for a great time. Still talk to a few of the folks I met on that bus. The Magic Bus. :D

hey,

me and a buddy from san diego are trying to plan a trip for the gorge this year. It'll be the first for us and were trying to figure out the best/most economical way of doing it.

Also, we don't necessarily need to be there all four nights because of the cost, and we'd defitnatly like to camp or rv a night.

If anyone would like to plan something collectively so we can save some money, drop me an email at jwright@rohan.sdsu.edu, or pm or im me at mrjeff622 on aim. Thanks!

Also, anyone in seattle or surrounding areas who might have some extra room? Were two friendly, easy-going 23 year old guys finishing up college, thanks!

Hi! I'm Maddy and this will be my second Gorge and my second year at Getty's. They are indeed closed for the winter, but we still call like everyday. There are parts of Gettys that are total Compton, we stay right by the entrance, by the water and the bridge ( that gets jumped off every morning ). Pretty much everyone that posts on www.bigeyedfish.com/gorgeboard is staying at Gettys. So hop on there if you are looking for rides, I know a few people were trying to get together from SEA-TAC. I can't wait for Labor Day weekend!

It all depends on the atmosphere you want. Camping at the venue can become very obnoxious. A ton of people are drunk, puking, pissing and doing anything else EVERYWHERE. You dont get your own site, you get crammed into a field and have to fight for your space. Having no shade is the biggest problem and not being able to leave and come back without having to pay again. I only stayed one night at the gorge last year and it wasnt as bad as I described, BUT IT CAN BE. I suggest getting there and going to the edge of the campground so you can get your site next to a fence, makes it easier to find and you dont get so many neighbors (this is helpfull when you want to get some sleep and your neighbors have their music up so damn loud it's impossible to sleep.)

The other places gettys, vantage, etc, offer a more civilized sort of camping. Showers, the river, everyone gets their own campsite(even though everyone seems to congregate anywasy), and there are quiet hours at the wee hours of the night.

Hope that helps.

You are gonna have one helluva time getting any hotel room within 50 miles of the Gorge venue at this point. They will all be booked by now. You have to call the hotels as soon as the tour dates are up. Good Luck.

I was a Getty's last year and the good thing about it is TONS of Shade, river swimming to cool ya off, and it's owned privately by a bunch of hippies which means 1. no real set quites time at like 10 or anything, and 2. no cops!!! I was at Getty's briefly last year to visit some friends (I was at the campgroud) . . . you pretty much got it right! I'm amazed no one got killed . . . cliff-jumping into the river while completely wasted doesn't seem like the best idea to me. people were passed out here, hotboxing a tent there . . . hittin bongs of all types out in the open. definitely the place to go if you're looking for a crazy party with a bunch of kids and no po's.

Totally - considering what WH takes away, plus a presale, not much will be left for the public. I just need 1 show from TM... it looks like WH is giving me reserved for the other nights. I'm not too worried, I don't even care if it is lawn.

presale info in case you didn't see other thread
copied form warehouse board, so no promise on validity, but worth a shot. This is for the gorge radio presale that starts wednesday. Wonder if there will be any seats left for regular onsale since so many should be gone before then

I just recieved the e-mail, the Password is NOT KMTT like I thought, below is the e-mail, please pass the word around, some people might go onto ticketmaster with the wrong password.

Dave Matthews Band tickets! If you don't win one of the Rock & Roll Adventures to Bonnaroo, you'd better plan ahead for Dave's annual weekend at The Gorge! This year's shows are over Labor Day and Mountain Music Network members can buy tickets before they go on-sale, starting this Wednesday at 10am - Friday at 10pm! Both reserved and general admission tickets will be available through this pre-sale, though only a limited number for both sections will be available for each show - double check your seat location before you purchase! The pre-sale password is: BUSTED.

I've got reserved for Sat. the 4th & Sun. the 5th. Warehouse member since the early days. And for those who aren't, yes there still are decent seats available through Ticketmaster. If you have lots of dough and want to splourge a bit there are plenty of ticket selling websites out there but you usually have to pay top dollar for a great seat. One final option is to hang out and buy one from someone in the parking lot. This is of course not recommended but hey beggars can't be choosers ;)

I booked my flight today:

Air Canada 1091 - Thursday, September 2
Departs Toronto 8:30am, arrives Seattle 10:36am

Air Canada 1092 - Monday, September 6
Departs Seattle 11:15pm, arrives Toronto 6:42am (Tuesday)

I think I'm going to spend Thursday seeing downtown Seattle. Returning is nice too... I don't have to get up early and rush to the airport on Monday. I'll take in some more sights on the way back.

Friday - Sec C Row 11 Seat 29
Saturday - Sec B Row 19 Seat 21
Sunday - Sec A Row 24 Seat 34

I work my way around in a nice semi circle through the 3 nights so I get a different view each night :)

PS I'm selling a single Friday ticket which happens to be the exact same seat sec and row # as my Sunday, I bought all 3 nights on the Presale and got the same exact seat both Friday and Sunday but was able to upgrade my Friday to row 11 this morning. So again....

For Sale is Friday Sec A Row 24 Seat 34 if you look on the link I posted seat 34 is pretty far into the section so view should be good...not as good as my 11th row that I snagged, but still pretty good :)

Camping around the Gorge is a piece of cake. I've been there 5 years now and never had to pay to sleep. Get in your car, find a dirt road and throw down the sleeping bag. Last year we camped in the mountains directly across from the venue. Nice and cool with amazing views. We even saw a few hundred head of elk. There are also plenty of places between the venue and Wenatchee to camp. Stay away from the Gorge's 'campground.' Unless of course you prefer to sleep in puke and immense heat.

Honest? I feel like such a dweeb. I have never been camping before. Last summer when I went to the Gorge, a friend and I found a motel room in Wenatchee and drove both days to the Gorge. This year, I thought that I'd try my luck at camping and booked the Gorge campground.

Camping isnt all that hard. You'll enjoy it. I'm not sure about just going down a gravel road and pitching a tent but I suppose it could work.

Most of the venues times changed from 7pm to 6pm about 2 weeks ago. When someone e-mailed an east coast venue asking about the time change the reply fromt he venue was that once theyhad confirmation of the opening act the time was changed to 6pm to ensure that opener, set change, DMB could all be done before an 11pm curfew.

I dont know how late Gorge shows usually go.... but in 2002 looks like DMB usually hits the stage after the opner around 7:55 - 8:10 and finsihed around 10:45 - 11:00. I dont know what time tickets said the start time was in 2002 though, someone might help out by checking an old stub to see if it said 6pm or 7pm.

Hello:

When Guster was added to our show, the time was moved up to 6:00pm. I am not sure of the reasoning behind it. We do have a curfew by county ordinance to stop playing at 11:00pm, so the promoter may have wanted to be sure that both the opener, set change, and DMB are able to have enough time for everything.

Ticketmaster and our site all are correct in saying that there is a 6 ticket maximum per order with no more than 2 tickets being pavilion tickets.

Regards,
Brian

Alright. This is a desperate call for help. Our ride to the venue fell through so I'm turning to the forums. Is there anyone that can help the three of us out? All we need is a ride to the venue and a ride back to the airport. Send me an email if you can or have any information on how to get there without renting a car. Thanks

Daaaaaamn all the way from FL and you get stuck at an airport only 2 or 3 hours away from the Venue, hopefully someone helsp you out. My car is already full, I'm picking up 3 guys flying in each from different places in Cali. I'm being nice and driving past the gorge to pick them up and then going back. Same when I take them back to the airport on the monday, I head west then turn around, and drive back east!... I'm from Calgary

I'm hookin people up, hopefully someone else will hook you up. Otherwise renting a car and splitting it 3 ways isnt too too bad.

Renting a car isn't an option for us. We don't have any 25 year olds in our group. However, we would for sure split split the cost or even take the bulk of the cost if someone rented.

You don't need to be 25 to rent, you'll just pay a little more, depending on who you rent from.

You don't need to be 25 to rent, you'll just pay a little more, depending on who you rent from.
For example www.dollar.com (http://www.dollar.com) you can rent from the seattle airport and drivers between 21 and 24 have to pay an extra $20 a day..... which is funny when you rent from the Vancouver BC airport from dollar underage drivers only have to pay $5 extra :) and thats $5 canadian tire money

dmbpromoguy
04-05-2004, 01:04 PM
I suggest you shop around online through all the major renters (dollar.com I know is best in Canada for renting to under-25 drivers) but check out the other websites, usually you find the underage drivers fee in the area after you search for a car and dates and location there will be a link for "check local policies" because each location will have different underage driver restrictions / fees.

cowboyroie
04-05-2004, 01:15 PM
well the thing is...we're all 19 so we can't even get the underage price.

dmbpromoguy

nationalcar.com $25.00
dollar.com $19.99
hertz.com you need to be 25 :(
enterprise.com NO FEE !!!!
avis.com you need to call and ask for specific location info 1-800-230-4898

I think it was enterprise that let you chose an option of 18-21 years old

rent a wreck is a legit business, its been around for as long as I can possibly remember. They do alot of business selling used cars, but they also rent used cars out before they sell them.

Also what you could do is call one of the major car rentalk places and ask them where a 19 yearold can rent a car, they might be able to help you out.

The last thing you want is to book a car through them, get to seattle and then have the rental company tell you you're shit-out-a-luck

I did this with avis when I was 21. I work for fed ex and told them i was there on business and they said OK. All they did was look it up in the computer and saw they had a deal with fed ex and asked me for a phone number for fed ex. They didnt look into it at all. No ID or nothing.

OK so the House of Blues website says that profesional cameras are not allowed, does anyone know their policy on point and shoot cameras, will I have to shove my $300 camera down the crotch of my pants.

I would certainly hope that I can freely take it in, esecially since a year or two ago the band asked people to send in their videos and pictures for the new release. But when these venues say no prof cameras..... well its up to some stupid 18yrold kid scanning tickets at the gate to determine whats a profesional camera and whats not.

Gotta love random-seating nights. That's where my WH seats were on 9.7.02. :D The second row is longer than the first row, though, so security let us stand against the rail. vannausj

pretty sure lawn ga4 means nothing really, I think they label them probably to keep track of how many they have sold, I have not seen how the preferred section shows up, but when you buy some places from ticketmaster, the lawn shows up like that, probably group them in lots of 500 or something and then keep track of them

Sec A is on Roi's side and Sec C is on Boyd's side. Hopefully your seats are closer to Sec B than on the outside of those sections. Also, the side sections start a little farther back than the middle section. For example, last year I was in C10 one night. That was equal to B14 or so.

Check out the seating chart from TM. Maybe that'll help?

It shows the numbers the clearest out of all of them, but doesnt show you any angles of the rows and withe the odd angle to sec A and C you cant tell row numbers all that well. Someone did point out to me a while ago that the sec B row number looks a lil confusing. he said that the locaton of the row 34 on that map referes to sec B where the row 22 refers to sec A and C. So where that 22 is, is row 22 in sec A and C but is closer to row 29/30 of sec B. Its a shitty map, I'm surprised the map on the Gorge website is just worse. I can go to the saddledome website and pinpoint an exact floor row and seat number.

I was next to the sound board last year. It's not that bad remember that all of the speakers are set so that the sound mixer can here them the best. You may not have the closest view but you will get the best sound. besides that everyone around the sound board puts there chairs up against the booth so you have an open area to move around and dance. You don't have to stand on the god damn chair the entire time like everyone else.

I know for certain venues that the WH tries to get seats towards the center...does this apply at all for the Gorge? I've always wondered the same thing, what they consider a better seat. Row 20 sec A last seat in the row on the outside edge, or row 22 dead centre section B. We would all like the B row 22, but does the WH ticketing computer system think any row 20 is better than any row 22??

Just like Arena shows whats better row 40 on the floor, or 2nd row of the lower bowl, 10 seats out from the stage? (equivilant distance as 10th row floor) I would rather have the 2nd row lower bowl close to the stage than 40 rows back on the floor.

ANYWAY..... while I'm here I just had to say I watched the offical DMB video of Grace is Gone and Tripping Billies from the 2002 Gorge run, the two versions that we all assume is going to be on the DVD..... and daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn I'm gettin excited!

So I went out and bought Jason Mraz's CD so I'm not totally unfamiliar with the dude by the time the Gorge comes around. But to someone who has been to 2 or 3 night stands in the past, how has the opening acts been on the 2nd and 3rd nights when they are someone like Mraz with only one album out? Will we hear the exact same thing 3 nights in a row?

I feel that it is mixed up a bit. Last year at the Gorge, when Josh Kelley opened--who also has only one CD out--he played a good mix of his album as well as covers. Yeah, he played his one hit and, like, two more staples from his recordings, but the final night, he invited his little brother on stage for some killer covers.

It all depends.

Plus, Jason has been around for a long while. He has one CD out, but tons of songs that he plays live. His set list is rather extensive. I'd try getting my hands on one of his shows to get an idea.

Jason is a great artist...one of my faves. I'd try this link to check out some of his other stuff...concerts, downloads, etc. Every live show I've seen with him he's been incredible. He has this great way of making huge ass venues seem like an intimate club.

Sounds great to me, I've only had mostly crappy bands open for DMB for my Gorge experiences! No more monkeying around :monkey bring on Jason Mraz! :thumbsup
