 $10 for water!!!!? God, what do they charge for beer?
Do they let you bring in "factory sealed" bottles or at least empty ones you can fill at a drinking fountain? And then do they make you throw away the caps? That drives me nuts. I'm a spiller...
I'm mainly talking about the campground area. I don't where you're staying, but if you stay at the gorge campground you'll want to have lots of water, especially if you're staying for all three days. While most of us will be drinking before the shows, it's nice to have some water in the morning and during the day for that hangover and the hot sun that will strike your tent at 6:30 in the morning, also good for brushing teeth and taking sponge baths ;)
They have sinks by the portopotties but I have seen them dry up by Sunday before.
If you're not staying at the campground I'm not exactly sure about bringing bottles into the actual venue. I've never done it, but I imagine they won't let you bring anything, mainly so they can charge you for water on the inside. If you plan on drinking beer inside it could cost you around $7-10 for a 16oz cup, that price range is from a couple years ago so it may be different now. I always just sneek some liquor in and grab a pop, for sippin.

Oh the campground at the gorge is like open deer season..anything goes!! Not sure about the sponge bath part, don't they have showers? Or so i read!

They have showers, but I've only used them once, if you do make sure you have some sandals to wear in there. I prefer to take a trip down the the river and jump in mid-day instead, good way to cool off, wash off and get ready for the next night.

You can get to the river from the Gorge venue campsites?? i thought you could not??? let me know...it would be awesome to swim!!

I didnt know you could either. It'd be quite a hike for sure.

No, you can't hike there from the campground, but you can leave the campground during the day, and get back in with your campground pass. So I'll usually drive down to Vantage, there lots places along there where you can jump in the water. Then you just drive back to the campground and flash your pass and they'll let you back in. It works good if you're with a group of people because there'll be cars at your camping spot to save your area and then you can just drive back to the same spot when you come back. If you're just a small group in one car you'd have to pack up your stuff then go to the river, come back to the campground and set-up again, unless you have some friendly neighbors that would watch your spot(rare).

Vantage is a small town on the Columbia River about ten miles from the Gorge, by the way.

With the help of Crumbo I should have the weblisting up soon, for those who have been able to get a sneakpeek what do u think so far????
http://www.geocities.com/satellite_eye/
Geocities has hourly limits of how many people can view the page, so its only up for a few people each hour, check it at 5 minutes past the hour and you shouldhave no problem, but it will be up on a different server/host with a new addy sometime early tomorow..... I would like you all to know my room is a fuckin mess now since today I was going to clean my room instead I played around making a webpage again for the first time in about 8 years..... I'm at work now... I look forward to gettin home and playing some more though.

I know I love shoreline..I was just there a few weeks ago for another concert...saw my tree i was in...memories. Gave it a moment in silence poured some beer on and then moved on and walk across the grass, well attempted to anyways. Glad to hear about the lack there of trees at the Gorge...good times..on the ground!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!
Oh so will a camel pack be sneakable into the venue for the concert. I'll be sportin it around the campsite along with my newly bought headlamps...flashlights that go on your head....so i can carry more beer in my hand...greatest invention ever!!!
So if you see a girl walking aorund with a light smack dab in the middle of the gorge campsite...say "hello Kim!!!!" I'm very nice!!! :D

we are both staying in Moses lake and I am definitely hitting up the bar in your hotel...to increase my chances of sharing a drink with one of the band members. Radios are a must once in the lots......don't worry we all will be hangin all weekend.
I don't know where my brother's seats are but we will be here:
N1 sec B row 26
N2 sec A row 23
N3 sec C row 15

My friend just bailed out on me for gorge. I still want to go, but going alone doesnt sound like much fun. I have a room reserved. I am flying up from the bay area, ca and want some people to go with . Any fun, drama free, 420 friendly people wanna go with me? Please no weirdos or people with alternative motives. I have great seats.

Welcome Hani - I'm sure you'll find some fun people to hang with not only on this thread but check out the Gorge 2004 site in my signature - it's a growing list of people on these boards who will be going to the Gorge. We pretty much have all campsites and most hotels covered!

Ok, I am an old DMB fan, but took 3 years off from tour. Now I am back and ready to have fun and party, so I cant beleive I have to look for people to go with. If you wanna know a cool DMB chick, write me, lets preparty! Tell me where I can find you! I am always happy to meet other fans, new or old school. I need to cut my expenses, so if anyone wants to share a room, let me know. Here is my email: SFinLG@aol.com Or else fill me in on these discussion boards. (since I have never had to use them) how do I coordinate with other DMB fans?

whats up hani hani...
just wanted to say welcome to the ants community, funny you mention it, last year for the gorge i was in your same position, we had bought tix for both nights and airfare, my buddy legrand (who posts here a lot) had to back out for $$$ reasons, anyways i was stuck and didnt know what to do... i ended up going alone with a guy i had done some trading with over at sharingthegroove it worked out great he was super cool, and he let me ride out there with him, and now he and i are good friends and hes going to come to the gorge with me and the 20 or so other folks that are going with us!
i live outside nashville tn and he (the guy who lemme go to the gorge with him last year) his name is Chuck,
i actually returned the favor and took him to bonnaroo this year! he flew in from seattle to nashville for the roo...
so long story short, i know how it is, and i would still go if i were you, its such an amazing place, and to extend an invitation to you, you can camp with our group, mainly folks from here, we are staying at feathers... and the best part about it, feathers is free... its those rock formations on the gorge dvd where steffan is playing the dobro...
anyways if your interested lemme know

I'd guess 2 hours Vanc. to Seattle. Then about 3 hours Seattle to the Gorge. Watch out for that Seattle traffic, it can be a killer.
On my last trip to Victoria the Seattle traffic made me miss my ferry from Anacortes so I had to cruise up to Vancouver to catch one.

Can someone tell me what the stage looks like from section C row 4? Is it an odd angle? Can you see the whole stage? Is this map accurate ---> http://www.ticketmaster.com/seatingchart/122913/1020 and where would Butch and Boyd be in comparison to that map?
Sorry for all the questions. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.
dmbpromoguy
08-14-2004, 04:34 PM
according to that map the stage is much larger than real life..... from what I understand the stage is only really as wide as section B, but 4th row shouldnt be too damn bad, even if you are the last seat on the outside edge. Now if you were row 30 and the last seat on the outside edge it would be a ifferent story.

even if you are off to the side in row 4 you should be able to see all the band members. if you are close to section B you are golden.......if you are off to the side the only thing that might obstruct your view is the speaker stacks......the seating chart looks pretty close to how things are set up.

thanks for all of the help ya'll! Im going from Vancouver as well you might try the route I am taking to avoid seattle. Take the I-5 from either the peace arch crossing or the 176 st truck crossing (probably faster) down to everett then take the #2 east a short distance until you reach the #203 and take that south, it connects to the I-90 (and bypasses seattle) and follow it out to vantage and from there just follow the signs to the gorge.
Hope that helps.
Edit: I don't expect the route to take more then 4 hours but then again I have never gone before.

I'm taking the Sumas border crossing, but thats cause i'm going to be spending the night on the far east end of the greater Vancouver area. Drive Calgary to Mission on thursday, then leave Mission around 5:30 am hitting the border just after 6am, shouldnt be too much traffic around that time I dont think :)

Yeah that was my first show and was enough to turn me off of lawn @ the Gorge. The lawn speakers cut out throughout the latter half of Two Step and most of Cry Freedom and What You are. Sucked ass.
However, last year I didn't have any problems in lawn. Granted I was dead center at the very front of the lawn against the chainlink fence.

ISO: Share ride to the Gorge
Looking for a laid back group of ants to travel and camp with at the Gorge. I have a 3-day camping pass and my own gear, I'm 30-somthing, this is my third trip to the Gorge to see DMB, I work at Microsoft, and I live in Seattle (eastside). Would prefer to leave Friday morning and take off before noon on Monday.
I have two reserved seat tickets for each show, but my DMB buddy cancelled and I now have an extra seat for each night.
As for transportation, I would love to join an existing round-trip or I can drive 2-3 others in my Camry.
Please reply to me if your group can take another and/or if you want to buy the extra set of tickets from me for WH cost.
9/3 -- to be assigned
9/4 -- sect. A, row 20
9/5 -- sect. B, row 49

We are up to 46 people!!!! its goin great!!!!
http://www.dmbgorge2004.crumbo.net//
Keep sending me your info to be added!!!!!!
Tomorow probably I am going to play more with the site, make the table look good, add the NEED section for people needing tickets. Some people have asked taht I incorporate IM or e-mails into the board, its a little late now with 46 listings but if you wish to contact people simply go to their fan site of choice and search for their username and most all of the sites have either contact info listed on their profiles or they have the ability to send PMs through the websites.

Ian, the site looks great.
OK folks, I have offered my extra tickets to family and friends, but they are hedging, so.... sucks for them. I have 2 lawn seats for Saturday and two reserved for Sunday (Sec A, row 34, I don't know seat #'s yet as they are WH). Of course highest bid takes!!! Just kidding, face as usual. I can send them out the day I receive them, which should be roughly Aug. 24th. Let me know if you're interested.

I've left during the day every since 2000, so I would imagine it's still cool. Just make sure you have your camping pass on you. I've heard that it is only campers or vehicles towing campers that can't leave. So the river is doable, and highly recommended!

I hope you are right... but according to Gorge seating charts, section B is 45 seats wide. there is no way that 27 seats and an aisle can squeeze between Dave and Boyd. Maybe I am wrong? 45 seats seems to me like it is the entire length of the stage.

http://followdmb.com/images/gorge.jpg
using this chart, Dave stands directly in front of seat 22 of section B(I know because last year my seat was toe-to-toe with Dave).......that leaves 23 seats to the start of section C....also note how section C is shaped....We had tickets in section C row 30 in 2002 in seats 1,2,3 and those were right in front of Boyd......also keep in mind the seats are fold up chairs that are tied together, meaning there is literally no room between each seat.

Hey all-
I was checking out Sidestage bills, and I noticed there's an opener named Ari Hest and it sounded familiar so I checked it out... he just released a new disc on Columbia and the songs that were on his website are awesome. Will definitely check out the sidestage on the 3rd! He's also doing the 4th and 5th too.

We're having trouble finding a rental car, too. Part of the problem is that we need to pick it up in Bellingham, WA but return it to SEA/TAC. We may end up just using Kevin's dad's pick-up truck. I'm hoping we won't have to go that route because the thing is just soooo gigantic, it could eat my Civic for breakfast. And it's Diesel - don't know how available that is around the Gorge.

Do we have any solid plans to get everyone together? The campers we know definetly will be, since their living together for the weekend. But what about everyone who is staying in Moses Lake??? We should all get together if we can. All of the hotels are all within walking distance of each other there so it shouldn't be hard. Theres suppose to be a band playing poolside at the Motel 6. Maybe that would be a good place to meet for a few pre-tailgate spirits.

I come back on Monday, work 3 days & leave for the Gorge. Got my boy coming out from Montana for night 2. Going to be an outstanding weekend, I predict the end of all "Gorge is overrated" speeches. Come back to work for 3 days & leave for the SF show. It's gonna be brilliant down by the bay. I don't know if I can handle all of this anticipation. & then I just realized there's only 17 days left. during the day I don't have any plans as of yet, Friday will be spent driving out from Seattle, aquiring tailgating supplies, checking into hotel room, then arriving at the lot around 4pm to start the festivities :D ....after party at the BW bar maybe?? I'd just like to say that after careful planning, my Gorge partner has deceided to go! So I am not going to Gorge alone. Thank you to everyone who has invited me to participate with their gatherings. That is the kinda DMB love I have missed while being absent from shows for the last 3 yrs. Really, I have felt an outreach from this community that surpasses expectations. I am still gonna meet up with the folks that have invited me. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone.
I still have some extra tickets. I have a lawn ticket spoken for by Ian and his long distance traveling Gorge friend. I have a pair of tickets for Sunday-Sec B row 38 which gets someone on the floor. ANYONE WANTS TO BE ON THE FLOOR ON SUNDAY EMAIL OR AIM ME. Face Value.

OK Hani - what you need to do is go buy the Gorge DVD (or not if you already own it), tie your friend up in front of the TV, stick a pipe in their mouth and make 'em smoke it, then make them watch the Gorge DVD with you. They'll come around. How can they not??

Regarding soaking up the view - especially for you first time Gorgers - go to the LEFT and walk up over the hill to the center of the venue to get your first peek of the beauty that the Gorge Amp. has to offer. After 40 + shows - I still do it and it still gives me goosebumps every single time. If you go to the beer garden first and then come in from the side - you won't get that WOW factor. Definitely need the WOW factor. You might just have to take a seat there at the top of the lawn and roast some tofu. :D

I will be leaving the Seattle airport around noon on Friday, then making my way to Wildhorse.
I drive a Black 4 dr Chev Tracker with dark tinted windows. On the back side window is a big white firedancer with Dave Matthews Band written under it, and of course my car will have an Alberta licence plate on the back, I'll have a canadian flag at my campsite, and my tent is red white and blue lol!
