I will be leaving the Seattle airport around noon on Friday, then making my way to Wildhorse.
I drive a Black 4 dr Chev Tracker with dark tinted windows. On the back side window is a big white firedancer with Dave Matthews Band written under it, and of course my car will have an Alberta licence plate on the back, I'll have a canadian flag at my campsite, and my tent is red white and blue lol!
Ooops - re-read some earlier posts and see that Tofu isn't your thing. Oh well - we can discuss the scenery (i.e. - Hotties) over an ice cold Rainier (pronounced Ron-yay). Will be on the lookout for the Canadian with an American tent with the Chev with Alberta plate. Thank God I won't be looking for a B.C. license plate - I'm scarred from living in Bellingham, WA during my childhood.

Alberta has been refered to as a very scary place..... Canadian prime minister refered to us as 'the dark side' once lol, its really no surprise the moron only won two seats in Alberta that election, fucknut.
My campsite is going to be very diverse though, 1 Canadian, 1 Austrailian, 3 Americans (1 chinese-american)

We're staying at the Best Western in Moses Lake (through the Warehouse package) though I haven't yet found anyone else on this board who will be there as well. Is that near and around all the other hotels?
My friend and I are staying there. Got declined for the WH package, but I managed to score a room none-the-less. A room with one bed, and we need 2. :BANG Oh well, I'm going to have to learn to love my roll-away cot. :lol

Please elaborate. Part of our pre-Gorge vacation will be spent in Bellingham and near it (Ferndale). Is it a terrible place? Am I gonna get assaulted by a bunch of gangstas or drenched by acid rain?

Nah - you'll be ok - the Dale is an interesting place - I have two sisters who live there. Not much there. I suggest a road trip to White Rock B.C. for some cheap suds.

We're gonna be with my guy's parents so I basically have no control over anything. Taking their boat out (apparently into International waters - they told me to bring my passport "just in case") to do some salmon fishing and whale watching. :D

I couldn't get to sleep... so I looked at all the songs they have played this year so far and came up with 3 setlists of 19 songs, repeating just the 4 "main" new ones (and including GGT on one set). In other words, this year they have played 49 different songs (in whole.. I didn't count teases). Now, I still realize that they might repeat a few others besides the new ones, but they don't have to. :)

Dont worry about finding goods. There are grocery stores and Liquer stores all over the place. If you are looking for something to do thuresday night, look for the free weekly local paper called, oh shit what is it called. Its free and you can find it next to any newspaper stand. The US border has been closed to Canadian beef (and sheep and buffallo, and deer, horses..... anything with 4 legs) for well over a year, ever since a single case of MadCow was discovered in Alberta LAST MAY. A single case wich has been proven to have not entered the food chain, and after the slaughter of about 200,000 head of cattle in alberta since, all coming back with negative test results, the US Gov is still refusing to open the border. :BANG

Okay, Well always looking.
There is nothing better then looking around at Dave Matthews Band fans that are men. I have to admit, I enjoy the scenery. Hot Hot men. And some dorky ones.
My ex was a dork and I met him thru the fanclub and socializing. Dating a fan gets tricky. You have to see them again, and sometimes sit by them if the warehouse places you next to eachother. ( i swear someone is laughing in Virginia) And there is nothing worse then avoiding someone at a show. Cause youll find em, even amoungst 40,000 people. Its happened to me.

Everything better American made!!! ;)
Except for beef :) Our province alone loses about 3 million dollars a day.
Look at is as say...... Wisconsin.... big on Dairy correct..... say all other US states decide that for 15 months they would not allow Wisconsin dairy producs to be shipped out of wisconsin, it would devastate the economy there, luckly the Alberta economy as a whole is safe because of our oil exports, but the farming community has been completely devastated over the past year. The sad part is that 99% of Americans dont know and dont care, I'd venture to say that not a single American going to see DMB in Toronto this year even came close to thinking twice before ordering a hamburger while they were in Toronto.
Heres a good lil twist..... During the Stanley Cup finals, Calgary (Alberta) vs. Tampa Bay (Florida).... The Premier of Alberta and Governor of Florida made a public bet on the game.
If Calgary loses - Alberta Premier sends the Governor a full ALBERTA BEEF steak dinner.
If Tampa loses - Florida Governor sends Alberta Premier a crate of Florida Citrus fruit.
well....... Calgary lost...... and the Governor feasted on some Grade A Alberta steaks...that somehow were allowed through the border!!!!
I'd love to sneak some steaks under my car seat when I drive to the Gorge, but I'm going to be passing through a remote border crossing from BC into the States at about 5:30am to go to seattle to pick up a couple of 'strangers I met on the internet' sir.......... odds are very good I will be searched.

All this tofu chat is fueling my anticapation...it's also making me lazy in terms of posting as I don't want to start a new thread here, but does anyone need a campsite? I've got two booked (Vantage and Wildhorse). I'm listening to Alpine N2 and getting super irritated with the Woo's in Joyride.
:violent Seriously, it's just so wrong.
Eddie and I went on "the drive" last night to listen to both shows and had a long and serious discussion about the Woo's, at the end of which we basically gave up on the notion of being able to do anything about them.
The Woo's in Joyride have spread faster than an STD in a fraternity house. :BANG

Unfortunately, you never know when the rarities come about. And other times when you hear a song, it becomes rare based on current events and how often they play it. I am so lucky I have heard cry freedom several times, but I havent been to a show (until this Year at Alpine) in 3 years. But Im not a newbie. I needed a break. I was at Bridge School right after 9/11 and the entire feeling was just different and not surprising we got the set list we did. Rare songs will happen if you hold in there. But I have yet in my 7 years of touring hear Hold Me Down, or the old Captain, or Tangerine. I wish. Sigh.......
For all of you would like the woos to stop, remember that Carter and Stephan ask for it. So lets please them, no matter how much we hate it. :BANG :violent

I have never camped at the Gorge, but I do have a little input for you.
Feathers and Vantage will give you the easiest river access.
Wildhorse is the closest and the shuttle they provide allows no worry partying.
The Gorge campground is the most crowded and rowdiest, people I know that have stayed here before don't usually do it again. It is hard to get some peace and quiet at night, unless you drink yourself to sleep.
Getty's Cove is another option and I have heard good things about it.
If you don't have a spot reserved yet at any of these places, I don't think you are going to be able to pick and choose.
The Gorge experience is what you make of it and the people you surround yourself with

The Gorge experience is what you make of it and the people you surround yourself with
Even though I'm staying at the Wildhorse (queiter, cleaner, shuttle) - I've had my best times at the Gorge Campground - don't be scared if that's where you end up - definitely one very large fiesta. :thumbsup

Well folks, I MIGHT..... might..... be getting my money back for the tickets that asshole fellthrough on. After about 3 weeks of non contact I filed a complaint with his local police and the FBI e-fraud department for $900, so I call the guy leave a message telling him who I contacted, then shock about 2 hours later the guy who has been refusing to return messages contacts me, and I just got off the phone with him after some sob/bullshit/whatever 1/2 truth story about what happened, he is telling me I will get a refund in full, my complaints however will remain active and I wont call his police or FBI again until that money is back in my hands though. So this day is..... well half good, the 2nd half og 'goodness' wont occur until I see my bank balance raised by $900 USD

The Gorge campsite is cool, you'll have a lot of fun, I always do. Don't listen to all the Getty eliteists. Don't worry about the alcohol if you're of age, even if you aren't the chances that you'll get searched are slim. I always see people with barbecues selling burgers after the show, so I believe it's cool to bring in cooking materials, you just can't have open flames on the ground. It might only be gas stoves, but I'm not sure. As far as camping goes, I can't think of any gear they wouldn't allow.
Hope that helps.

I leave next Thursday morning bright and early (I need to set up a cab but I'm worried they will never find my house :( ) and I'm flying by myself (I will have plenty of mags and an mp3 player but I hopefully I can sleep most of the way)....I hate flying
here are all the people I'm camping with:
http://www.uvm.edu/~jjohnso2/gorge2004.html
We are picking up the RV on Thursday afternoon and heading to Matt's house and then it's off to Target and a grocery store for supplies. Staying at Matt's house on Thursday night and then we are leaving for the campground around Noon on Friday (and I'm driving the RV).
I think we are going to get to the venue fairly early each day (depending on the weather) sometime between 4-5 (depending on whether we drive or take the Getty's bus).
We should try to pick a time and spot to meet the first night :)

I hate to fly too. Big time. (Ask Eddie - he's usually my ride to the airport...makes my tea-induced tweak out at Alpine look like child's play.) My fear of flying is a serious problem - no sleep for the week prior to a flight. No music or mags for me....I rely on Alcohol and Valium to get me through. :freak
Picking a spot may be difficult, what with us both being Gorge Virgins. (Not like at Alpine where we can give specifics.) But, I'll have my cell on me and it should work...we'll be in Portland on Thursday, take off for Moses Lake on Friday a.m. And we'll have the radios on once we get into the venue. WB, I would like to leave Moses Lake around 3:30pm on Friday to get a spot close to the entrance. I have found the closer you park to the gates, the easier it is to access the limited amout of Honey Buckets provided and it's easier to meet up with people because they have to basically walk by you to go into the show. Will you guys have a grill? (Do people do that in the Gorge lot?) Get a really big suitcase! Just Kidding. Get a big duffel bag for folding chairs and small stuff. In Washington is a big store called Fred Meyer that has everything. Its like a Costco/Target/Supermarket/Wallmart. Go there for a small cheap grill, food, etc. Im looking for a canopy overhang so I dont roast in the sun.

i'm still a little confused about how to get all of my camping gear on the plane. how is everyone else doing this?
I'd suggest call your airline and confirm with them the max checked baggage allowance, AND check what the extra bag fee is. Get the dimensions and weight of checked bags too, then I would suggest cardboard boxes, some airlines allow 2 checked bags per person, milk it for all its worth, then make sure to CHECK IN EARLY so that if on the off chance bags have to be taken off due to weight restrictons they take off the bags usually of those who checked in last.
(The Stanley Cup was lost in Vancouver by AirCanada for a day because they took it off the plane due to 'weight restrictions on the flight' and didnt notify the 'keeper of the cup' so when he got to Fort St Johns and the Stanley cup didnt come around the Baggage claim area..... hehe, well.... a massive search for Lord Stanleys Cup was started!!! it was found in Vancouver Airport a couple hours later)

I read that too. My question is - why the hell are they checking the Stanley Cup through checked baggage? Shouldn't it have it's own Lear Jet or something????

The REAL question is.... why did AirCanada take it off the plane under the claim of weight restrictions.... it weighs 16 KGs, about 33 pounds..... there is no way 33 pounds would cause a comercial jet to crash!!!
But yeah, the guy who is the 'Keeper of the cup' his only job, his sole purpose of employment, his bread and butter is simply going everywhere the cup goes, I hope from now on he books two seats on the plane and straps that bitch in next to him!!!

We're coming from Portland and I have no idea how long of a drive that is.
Roughly 4 - 5 hours. At least that seems like what ot took the past 2 years for me. I'm going to arrive home from vacation Friday at about 10:30. Wife and I will switch luggage and essentials from the Tahoe to the Z and cruise out of Portland at about 11ish.
