In honor of today's warm rain I'm going to host Pig 6/11/99. This was my first full band show. Dancing on the lawn it started raining. They play Pig as the third song and when Dave sang "Open up and let the rain come pouring in.." Oh the lawn erupted in a warm, wet, orgasmic cheer. It was a wonderful night. So www.missouri.edu/~bam0a8 It'll be up in just a minute.

It's labeled Track3

It came in the mail at my parent's house. They aren't sure where it came from, but it wasn't from the Warehouse. It was probably from when I ordered tickets from Ticketmaster in 2002, which is strange because we didn't get anything like that last year.

It's hard to tell with only a one-nighter. Last year they played a pretty standard set the first night with only a couple rarities, then went all out the second night. I just want to go because it's the only show you really don't know what to expect.

Umm, last year they only played one show at Riverport. They played at Sandstone two nights later. 7/10/03 7/12/03

They played two shows at Riverport in '02 8/26, 8/27.

Hey everyone. I feel like a seasoned DMB fan from all the DVD's, CD's and downloading I've done over the past year or two but I still have never been to a concert. This'll be the first for me. I got lawn seats with some buddies for this one and I was wondering how much you can see up there. Problem with DMB is lack of jamming on their first show of the year. They've been very conservative over the years and the most disappointing stat is they haven't played Two Step on opening night for a few years, and they have never played a great Two Step in STL period. I'm looking for surprises like that on the 17th!

so, I would love to have a Seek Up opener, but today as I was cruisin around Suckfield, I decided I had more of a BOWA feeling...'twould be a nice opener for St. Louis...

I also think bustin out some Recently would be excellent.

I've been feeling the need for a 17 minute Seek up opener too....

But I could definately use a BOWA somewhere in that set...

Those 2 songs alone would make the show a pleasant experince for me. I just need to find out where my friggen seats are!

If I remeber correctly the poles are located around row KK in the Left-Center and Right-Center sections (see pic)...

In the lower pavillion the left and right sections still offer good views. No obstructions (like speaker stacks) are in your way until you are way over to the side.

GHB#13

Since I'm a newbie, how early would everyone recommend getting to UMB for a good lawn seat?Last year I got there at around 3:00 PM and was the 3rd Car in line. They'll let cars start lining up at the parking lot entrance but they won't let the cars in until somewhere around an hour before the gates are supposed to open. After you park your car its a race to the gates. I was able to be first to the gates because someone else was driving and they let me out while they went to park. There will usually be one line when everyone starts lining up at the gates, then right before they let everyone in they will split it up to accomodate the 8 entrances they have. Once you're inside the gates, they will stop everyone coming in for about 2 minutes or so, then they let everyone who is in at that point make a run for it. If you're there at that time, there really is no bad seat unless you're really slow. I've got reserved this year, but I'd do it all over again if I had lawn. Its worth it to get down front there, really good view and nothing in front of you like at most other venues. Hope this helps!

blakers81
05-14-2004, 01:03 AM
As far as lawn goes I've been there since summer '99. I get there a little while before gates open. There'll be somewhere around 80 people there. So even if you're near the back when gates open you'll still get a good spot.

Venue site:
What about parking at UMB Bank Pavilion?
Parking lots typically open 2 hours prior to show time. To give patrons more time to enter on sold out shows, parking lots will open 3 hours prior to show time on these selected shows. Two entrances and more than enough parking spaces in well-lit secured lots make access to UMB Bank Pavilion easy. No parking fees are collected upon arrival at the lots. All ticket prices include parking fees. Premier Parking is available for $15. For more information on Premier Parking, visit the Directions/Parking page. Specialized spaces have been designated, including disabled parking and parking for motorcycles. Ask the parking attendant for more information.

When can I get in the main gates?
The main gates generally open 2 hours prior to show time, however, times will be determined on a show by show basis. Again this year, when the gates open, local and regional music groups will be featured on the Levi's First Stage located near the gate at the reserved entrance.

kroekmic
05-16-2004, 02:24 PM
what has happened everytime i've been to umb is that the parking lot opens around 4 and the gates are supposed to open around 5 but it is usually closer to 5:30 before you can get in.

Due to the lack of numbers before the decimal point in my bank account, i will not be traveling to alpine as scheduled. I've never seen Ben Folds before, so this should be cool and Guster is always an above average show.

20 days!!! Uhm if I try to "smuggle" a disposable camera in what are the odds of getting it in, how good will they search? Because last year I put the cam in the pocket of my little backpack I brought and put a bunch of pads over it and the guy hardly touched it!
just crotch it. works everytime when I go to shows!

My friend and I are staying at the Holiday Inn.. but we booked too late and ended up with a room with one bed. If anyone is going to cancel their room that would be great if you could let us know and then we could switch it on our credit cards. For anyone who has stayed at the Holiday Inn before is it walking distance from UMB? When I called they said they had a shuttle, but I thought I heard somewhere the shuttle only goes once and that it's really early.

i usually just hide stuff in my socks. they never seem to get searched. i've been to over 200 shows, indoor and out. trust me, unless they have serious metal detector action taking place, it's not likely you're going to have your socks checked out. and yes, i too will be bringing my friend Jack D along to the show. i'll see if mr. blunty will be coming too.

JTR would be a sweet opener. they played it at the gorge in 2001, and it was super kick-ass (hyphens rock), but that was the last set of shows for the season. also, when they played it last, the lovely ladies were there to help out. but these days it seems like carter and butch have a pretty high vocal range and can belt out some crazy shit. at least that's what i thought after seeing them last year (9/6, 9/24. i only got to see them twice on their summer tour last year, and i had to sell my dave and tim tix at radio city cause i moved to boulder a month before the show.)
moving along though........

Man anyone who has seen a few shows in StL and had different seats every time would tell you some of the same things I am about to say. Dave throws a TON of emotion out to a croud I feel dousn't deserve it as a whole. First show I went to in stl I had like row jj and in front of me the people kept going to lawn and letting there friends in so we had 10 people standing in front of the 4 seats in front of us. next year was a lot better with seats but last year I went and had lawn and was straight pissed the whole show. The Lawn in St Louis is full of teenagers who want to get out and do some drugs behind mommy and daddy's back and look kewl standing at the concert. Hard to hear band over the retards talking (who of cource shut up at end of song to scream like it was the greatest thing they ever heard) so pissed I left after 1st oncore song and still got stuck for 30 minutes in the traffic. (usually 2 hours of traffic to get out) We road tripped to Chicago and went to what I think was there hockey arena and had some of the farthest seats from the stage you could get and it was so intense there it felt like we had prime seats. Chicago is the way to go for real St L fans. This will be my 5th show and I got 1st Row and 2nd row for my party in StL. with VIP parking. no other way to go for this venue. If I end up with an extra ticket I sure am going back to the lawn and looking for someone as pissed as I was last year and handing it to em. AVOID THE LAWN LIKE THE PLAGUE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO 14 YEAR OLDS TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY SCORED A WHOLE JOINT AND HOW SARAH IS BREAKING UP WITH BRIAN!!!!! peace love each other!!

TaylorMade2Step
06-04-2004, 02:52 PM
is anyone else out there like me psyched about riverport for no other reason than the WIDE lane between seated and lawn sections? It beats the hell out of bonner springs where you have to have a pavillion ticket to kick it comfortably on FLAT ground while getting a good view of the monitors.

Can't wait to break The Man's drums down!

see you in the lane (or refilling the cup!)

just got my tickets in the mail! I'm pumped now. Just incase anyone is wondering, they are green with trees on them and the Kansas City ones are grayish green with three elephants (walking in a line) on them. I'll be sitting center row WW, Hoping for an upgrade, the closest my girl and I have ever sat is 30th row. She is making a low cut (but tasteful) shirt that says "upgrade these" on it :) We'll be staying at the wingate.

I think I have to declare UMB as my home venue now. I went to my first shows there in 02 and I'm coming back this year. I would've gone last year if I didn't take a summer class. I have family there so I should be back for years to come. I just wish they'd go back to playing two nights there. :thumbsup

Ithink I'm falling right in here w/ you. My first show at UMB was 02' also...I was about 15 rows back in 02' and Front row for 7/10/03....So 3 years in a row at the same venue, it's almost starting to feel like home when I go there...Good Times!!!

what's dave and busters? i've heard a few people talk about it. is it a bar?
Its a really neat place right by the Pavillion that has a bar, restuarant, and huge arcade. You have to be 21 to enter, but it has really good food, and a really good atmosphere.

how many people are you coming out here with? when are you getting to the red roof, the night before or the morning of?

I think all of us lawn folks should make sure and get together at or before the show. i hate getting to the lawn and finding myself in an area where people are just sitting there and not getting into the show. i need people all around me going NUTS!!! PEOPLE IN EVERY DIRECTION...!

OK - because I have entirely too much time on my hands I checked the weather for 6/17 OMG they are currently calling isolated T-storms

Now obviously 8 days is a lot of time for the weather to drastically change. But for the lawn people lets vibe on it turning-out to be a beautiful day (weather wise that is, we know the event will be awesome no matter what!!!)

Hell no we dont, what time you getting there? I have no clue since we're driving 6 hours to get there, but we'll most likly go straight to the hotel. So if you see 2 girls walking around in home-made DMB shirts dont hesitate to say hey. B/c we hardly know anyone thats going so we need to hang out with some more Dave-heads before the show gets started!!!

Would you really mind getting a little wet in the lawn. I am in the back of the Pavilion and I'm kind of rooting for rain. It makes the show much better I think..Maybe it makes JTR more of a possibility?? I am sitting in Left PP anyone else in that row or anywhere near there?

Depends..Memphis can be a great music town and you can almost always find a great band playing somewhere in the city...it all depends on what kind of music, bars, etc you like. What hotel are you staying at and I'll give you some close places to go. Send me a PM!

Does anyone think there is a chance of the band breaking their streak of having no guests on the opening day? I know they are trying to get back into rhythm but since they are with a bunch of people at Bonnaroo, I'm wondering what the chances are that someone like Bela Fleck would tag along, and do you prefer shows with guests?

I was thinking that since they had that massive fuck up last year (7.10) on Rapunzel for the last song that they would come back this year with an amazing tour opening show (thats what I'm hoping at least). If you want great shows in STL, get the 9.18 and 9.19.00 shows with the Flecktones, from when it was still Riverport.

I'm still trying to decide if i want to go see the flecktones on tuesday. I have to wake up at 6:45 every day next week for work so i think it might be tough to be out that late with the drive all the way back home from Columbia. At any rate, it will be a sweet week with or without the flecktones.
