Pretty damn good setlist for the first show of a tour :thumbsup LOVE the 4 new songs. can't wait to hear what they sound like

But, I just don't understand why people complain about the ED songs. There will ALWAYS be a couple of them in a set, just accept it

Was kind of hoping the road page would give us an idea if grey was 3 versus, but this is what it says.

What a great first show it was tonight in St. Louis. DMB spent much of the spring writing new tunes and they pulled out 4 of them tonight, proving that there's exciting stuff to come. They also took some older tunes in a different direction. Warehouse spun off into an energetic latin groove, reminiscent of the old days. Towards the end of Grace Is Gone they broke out into an upbeat country jam which featured Boyd's classic fiddling. On our way to Illinois for a show tomorrow.

ok just got back and here is the scoop on tonight...
4 new songs were so sweet , it was so good to hear new material. the first one they played kicked ass i thought; it was definitely all funk like a what would you say combined with ants marching. and it had this stop time sorta feel in the beginning like warehouse and people started doign a woo thing there. the second new one was a slower , much more poppy, but still was really cool. sorta had this crush feel. much more intimate dave, i thought it was "pretty." the third new song was freakin' WEIRD! it had like 8 different styles of music in it, in the beginning it was like willy nelson/country/bluegrassish and then switched to like hard rock, then to funk, and to the slow mellow poppy sound, i dunno just really surprsing with a lot of twists. crowd wasn't very thrilled. the fourth one, in the encore, was awesome. started off with this bass solo and people all around were saying watchtower but it definitely startted picking up pace and turned into this really jazzy jam for like 8 min with only a verse or two by dave in the beginning. really sweet shit, leroi took over and it felt like crush/ two step jam at the end . that one was my favorite. overall, really good new show and i'm really looking forward to this new album. it's so good to see the guys working to create things all the time.

alright hear we go. Though the setlist may not seem like much this show was very high-energy. Too much, granny, and wwys were all really high energy and the band really seemed to be having a lot of fun on stage. the three new songs played during the set are going to be favorites in a couple weeks they have a really good sound to them and are very upbeat. The fourth new song i wasn't too impressed with but im sure if i give it time i will like it. WTWE and I Did It were songs I definantly wasn't looking forward to hearing but the band made up for it by playing a incredible warehouse with dancing by dave that brought the energy way up. Grey Street was the same as 02 as far as I could tell. Crush and Drive in drive out were good as usual. The song i was most impressed with was grace is gone. The band added a jam to the end of it that almost reminded me of a hoe-down and took what is normally a low energy song and made the crowd really get into it. During the jam dave also walked over to his wife and daughter who were on the left side of the stage and did a little jammin for them. The closer rapunzel was awesome and got me excited for a good encore. As I mentioned above new song #4 wasn't doin it for me and i was hopin for a last stop or two step as the next song and was somewhat dissapointed when they played stay but the band played the song well and ended the show on a good note. Overall the energy of the band made this show a good one. And if the rest of the album is anything like the 4 songs played tonight it is gonna be awesome.

yes, carter was very much the center of all the new stuff and just as much in the music as from the older days. as always, he was amazing tonight and was never being overshadowed by anyone else. btw, the grace is gone jam was probalby the best moment of the night and really stood out , it wa soo cool, everyone started going crazy when carter and dave brought on the big bluegrass jam and boyd added in for a few minutes and people around me all thought they were at a charlie daniels show. pretty crazy turn from something like crush just 10 min earlier. the band really showed their entire scope and versitality tonight.
and also, dave spoke one time saying that the band was goign to play some new stuff and would appreciate it if "we would help them with that." and yes, grey street was cut short one verse i think. and finally, butch was totally hidden tonight, not a single solo. the closest he came to "being noticed" was his honky tonk piano sounds in I DID IT. ... uh such a bad song.

Yeah the GIG jam was good. I'd say the second new song is my favorite after one go through with it. The first and third are great too though, I like em'. Fourth was OK. Uh, Granny was good. I'd say this was a good show just because of the new songs, if not for them, it was just good. But really, the new songs sound fresh and give me something to look forward to in the new album (when it comes).

the 2 min cliip from that site is definitely the last new song played tonihgt (sugar will?),except that the clip from the soundcheck only has the part with dave singing. tonight they took the rift and basically made it into this jam that sounded really jazzy and they got really into it, esp. roi. some people said that it was their last favorite song, but out of all the new ones it was the most jammed one so maybe those people aren't realy into that. i don't know, i thought it was really cool but the crowd wasn't into it which sucked. i think the st louis crowd is never as into jams as other cities and esp. when it is a song never heard it just makes them lost their attention more. you all can see when you see them in concert or hear another clip from the actualy concert tonight.

A couple of things:
Roi owned tonight and there really isn't any denying that.
The snare drum was turned up higher than normal.
Boyd's solos sounded like they were left in the mix more than normal and i couldn't hear him as well as i usually can.
The new songs are so raw it's amazing. They have a very UTTAD feel.
And finally, Warehouse was played perfectly tonight.
