***Huge Question***

I was sitting in the 3rd row center next to a really nice pregnant lady and her husband. I just want to say they were really nice and that I had a good time dancing a lil' bit while they were there! Thanks! If you see this, please let me know. Thanks So Much!

Yeah, they are all out, as soon as they came out I put them on my MP3 player and went downstairs and got something to drink, and took a piss cuz I'd been waiting forever.

I knew this MP3 player would come in handy. Its rather nice.

Hello Again is great, Sugar Will I didnt really get a good listen to yet, but I will, I accidentally skipped back to Crazy-Easy on purpose ;).

He He, I'm out for the night, with the songs repeating on my playlist!

Thanks to EVERYONE!

Wow.........what an amazing night, My 1st OUTDOOR DMB show was a blast!!! I love the new songs! Man driving the 6 hours there was well worth it! And getting lost for 40min was well worth it too!! I had so much fun, everything went smoothly...well except I took like 15 pics and got my cam taken away by the damn security! How bout everyone else, did you enjoy it? (Could have done without:WTWE, IDI,) But I left very very happy!

Ooo yeah me and my friend stayed after the concert and we walked over to where some restrooms/consession stands were and there was a guy in red telling people to stand in a single file line...so me and my friend went over and stood with them. Then he said "Hey can I see your meet-n-greet sticker?" I had no clue there was a meet-n-greet!!! They just had this blue sticker they had to put on their shirt and they were in! And I asked some people who went in and they said that some guy before the show gave it to them, just like that. And this one woman said that she had met Dave at the gym earlier and he had told her how to get one...then all of her friends wanted to get backstage so she went and talked to the guy and he gave her 3 of them for her friends...here im standing jaw completely dropped wondering how in the hell they got those! So i waited and they all came out and the woman told me it was just Boyd and that Dave had stooped in for a while to talk and sign, take pics. Then walking out I talked to this Woman and her son who got in and he said that he knew Boyd b/c he worked at the hotel they stay in when their playing at UMB and that they e-mail each and Boyd told him how to get one...so question is, how the hell do you get one and where?!?! Sign me up!!

Yeah but was it slide GUITAR or slide bass guitar.

At my show he was playing slide on his bass.

What a great first show it was tonight in St. Louis. DMB spent much of the spring writing new tunes and they pulled out 4 of them tonight, proving that there's exciting stuff to come. They also took some older tunes in a different direction. Warehouse spun off into an energetic latin groove, reminiscent of the old days. Towards the end of Grace Is Gone they broke out into an upbeat country jam which featured Boyd's classic fiddling. On our way to Illinois for a show tomorrow.

No capo.

Ok so my review: Very nice opener. Solid. Great song selection. 4 new songs! Some of the jams weren't all they could be, but others (GIG) were great. Definately a tour opener, the new stuff is raw and with potential and the old stuff is solid but few of the jams took on their full potential. Just remembering from last night I like Joy Ride. (haven't d/l yet). Great opener. It'll be nice to not have two shows back to back. So by the time KC rolls around the new songs will be unbelievable.

In depth review:
Setlist was about what was to be expected of the tour opener. No real shockers except for the return of I Did It (thought it would've been canned) and the 4 new songs. The show started off pretty average until rhyme and reason (overplayed but good) and the introduction of a new song. The show calmed down again with WTWE and IDI but resumed nicely from warehouse until rapunzel. Warehouse was good as usual Hello Again was in my opinion the best new song they played. The energy through those songs, including two new songs, was amazing. Grace is gone was truly the highlight of the show with a rare country jam. Rapunzel also was nicely done with a little new flare added. The show hit a sour note when the weakest of the new songs was played in the encore, effectively killing the momentum of the show. The Stay ending was good, but certainly didn't end the concert with anything amazing. Overall the show was jam packed with energy from the crowd and the band, but what was lacking was a consistancy in the setlist and an extended jam. 2 years in a row the st. louis crowd missed out on a song surpassing about 10 minutes. Overall though I'd give it a 7 out of 10 and the 2004 tour promises to be a good one.

katie how was front row?
unbelievable. being eye level with the stage was so different; I couldn't see Fonz and Roi very well so I had to look at the screen in the middle for that, but I was right in front of Boyd and Butch, not bad.

I had trouble seeing around some of the security guards though; one of the biggest ones was right in front of me, so no pictures. I had some good eye contact with Butch at one point and he winked at me; that was pretty cool. (if it was just my imagination, I don't care; it's a nice delusion) A girl who was in the row behind me moved up at the encore and at the end whipped out a sign and got one of Carter's drumsticks

They let people come up front at the encore; during the entire show they were pretty hardcore about checking tickets etc. There was tons of space in the front row though that went to waste during the show, although the couple next to me was grooving pretty good.

Well, we stayed at Harrah's and that place was pretty cool (expensive as hell) but the shuttle service was nice. I got that the momentum of the crowd was sort on a rollercoaster as the new songs didn't give much chance for people to sing along and whatnot. I enjoyed all the new songs, even the Encore was good except I didn't feel that was the place to put a new one. I thought they should have played it in the regular setlist. Unfortunately, I Did It sent me to pee and get a beer, only to get stuck in the damn line when Warehouse started. It sounded solid and I got to catch about 2 minutes of it finally. Was pleased to hear DIDO as I'd never got to see it live. Granny is always a favorite of mine live. Nice Crush, I was hoping for a Crash, but oh well. Seeing Stefan intro Grace is Gone with the slide steel was badass and the outro was fun as hell!! Rapunzel was very energetic and got me going again right before I crashed on the first song of the encore. I really couldn't even get into Stay that much after that, plus I was tired and half drunk. All in all, I had a blast and cannot wait until Nashville.

on a side note:
Section AA right center kicks ass! There were maybe 12 seats and only 4 were occupied by myself, the girl I was with and another couple.

What's up with the short skirts?? Holy shit! :thumbsup

I saw a guy getting escorted out by the cops and he was cussing them the whole time.

I saw some girl peeing in the parking lot ;)

Beer is still too high

I thought the staff was pretty damn polite

Some dumbass behind us started yelling 41, when everyone told him to shut up, he sat down.

AHHH.....Paris. I definitely agree with you on the skirts, it must have officially been skirt night in St. Louis. I tried to walk to Harrah's after the show but there was a moat running all away along the road to the casino. A blessing in disguise i'm sure! It was a really good show though. Looking forward to KC in August and the evolution of the new songs. They're gonna be powerful in a matter of a year or even months.

The third verse has been gone for about two years now. I had my fingers crossed that it would return, but alas...

Anyway, I haven't been around for awhile, but I gotta say wow! All four new songs were amazing! Joy Ride was my favorite, but the others were all nice. Warehouse, DIDO, Stay, and even I Did It (I know, I know) were great, and everything really rocked. I also noticed Stefan crossing the stage to jam with Butch and Boyd. Haven't seen that one before either! A friend of mine sitting left-center tells me that during one of the jams, when Dave crossed to the far left (from the audience perspective) of the stage, he was playing something while looking at a woman holding a baby sitting on the far part of the stage (behind what we could see from anywhere else, in the corner). He described this woman, and it really didn't sound like the pictures I've seen of Dave's wife, so I don't know who it was. I have no idea if that is even true or not.

On another note, unfortunately while I've been away, this thread has expanded a ton, and it's too much for me to read right now, so if this has already been talked about, I'm sorry. As great as the four new songs were, and after all the hype about them here, one little tune seems to have been forgotten about. After Granny (it could have been something else, but I'm positive it was very early), Dave played a little 30 second tune by himself. Does anyone know anything about it?

Anyway, it was a great show, and I couldn't have asked for more from it!

Can someone please clarify for me about SUAD being soundchecked? I haven't been able to find info in the threads about this... maybe I haven't looked hard enough. But I had heard the original rumors, and now it is listed in the tour section. Which is crazy! Does anyone know if it was comletely full band, Boyd solo, if they got through the whole song, etc?? Man, what a great comeback that would be. SUAD --> Joyride --> Rapunzel

i don't know if this has been discussed but did anyone notice dave looking at the crowd during the line in "i did it" ...."the truth is that i don't really care"...i have always thought that this song is about dave and glen getting together and just 'everday' in general. i think he was just like acknowledging that he knows that lots of people dont like it and he was looking at the crowd like "ha, i don't care"

For the early part of the show, someone had the twins out there too. They were on the shoulders of someone, and they had on little earmuff things. They were so adorable, dancing and clapping. Yeah, I saw that too. I was left row H right in the center...they were hilarious, but right behind you guys was a couple that was even funnier. 3 people (2 chicks and 1 guy), all quite large. It looked like 2 grapefruits grinding a watermelon.

And I don't mean to bust on big folks, but when a large chick is grinding stripper style on a dude, it's VERY ugly!

We were kinda tired that day, we didn't get our motors moving until the show started. Park near the Hotel(s) or other buildings near Dave & Busters, It is an 8-10 minute walk to the venue if you do this, and you will then sit in a small amt of traffic to get out (10-15 min) If you park in their lot, it is over and hour as you know...

David

damn skippy!

i learned a few valuable lessons that day...

1) don't drink mass quantities of liquid and get stuck on the highway for 2 hrs
2) never wear canvas flip flops when you are trying to haul ass from Dave and Buster's to the venue
3) leave EARLY
4) leave EARLY
5) leave EARLY

6) profusely thank, and apologize to, those who wait for your late ass :)
