Cool to have an opener in my home town, but i would've much rather had a road trip to a city where the fans are as loud for a shitty opening band as st louis fans are for dmb. I get to take my brother to his first show though, which will be sweet.

i learned a few valuable lessons that day...
1) don't drink mass quantities of liquid and get stuck on the highway for 2 hrs
2) never wear canvas flip flops when you are trying to haul ass from Dave and Buster's to the venue

Ok so I can't stop thinking about the 30 minute drive to "Riverport" at 4:00 to be there when the gates open (even though i'll have reserved seats) just to hang out with people. And the intensity of the first show. Wow, this is going to be amazing.

i had no traffic or parking problems last year. early prediction...st louis people will proclaim this show to be the greastest show ever played by any band ever, kinda like how they think kurt warner is the greatest qb in the history of the nfl and scott rolen is the greatest 3rd baseman ever. for you out of towners dont be suprised to see idiots walking around in kurt warner super bowl shirts at this show.

What the (bleep) are you talking about?
Kurt Warner is the greatest qb ever, Scott Rolen is the greatest 3b ever, and this will be the best show ever.
Oh wait...
In any case, I will be there, and I can't wait. I also am very excited about going to the opener, and very interested to see how they will kick off the tour.
What concerns me is how sometimes it takes awhile for things to really get into rotation, and so not only is it possible that we won't hear any (or many) new songs, but also that some of the "rarer" songs may not appear in the set.
Since this will be just my fourth show, there are still a lot of songs that I have not heard live yet, and therefore I would be as interested in scratching more of them off my "list" as I would be in getting many new songs. I guess it all depends on what we hear about the album.
As far as openers for the first show, hmm...definitely not something new. Perhaps something that really wasn't an opener very often last year (although part of me wants "the Stone" which I have never heard live before). Something that may surprise us a little bit. As Jake is my witness, please please please let it be "Fool to Think!" But seriously, I always thought "So Right" would be kinda cool. So lets go with that.

Well Everyone, All I can say is that I am freaking pumped for this!!!!!
I can't wait, So were not the "Best, or loudest" dmb fans there are, but guess what, we still pack the place everytime they come to town. It's the only concert at UMB every year were the workers there cannot get free tickets because they know that it will sell out. St.Louis and the surrounding area loves DMB, so stop knocking it.
If tickets were on sale today, I would have already ordered!
I cant wait.

I think we're gonna get a WWYS, Stay, or SMTS. I just have a feeling that there's going to be a guitar intro. after being on hiatus for so long, i'm guessing they might want dave to take the lead. there's lots of other songs with guitar intros, such as LIOG, Dancing Nancies, or Stone, but I still don't think Dave gives the midwest the credit it desreves. It seems like he always starts of with the songs "everybody" knows when he's in the midwest.
Maybe this year will be different. I really hope so. just my $.02

1) Boulevard is by far the best beer there is! I love the Wheat beer. My buddies who went to Mizzou got me hooked on the stuff and now I drink it all the time (which kinda sucks because it is so expensive)
2) I would really like to go and see the KC show this year...I heard the venue up there is pretty cool....Called "Sandstone" isn't it? Sounds pretty neat to me.
3) I do know what you mean though....I mean, Everyone stands, but not a whole lot of people really really get into the concert....seems like around me and my friends, people are always just standing around, not really jamming or anything, but they pay there money so I guess they can do that if they want to

It's called Verizon Wireless now formely known as sandstone. It's an okay venue reminds me a lot of UMB with no pavillion over the reserves seats and a smaller lawn. The traffic wasn't as bad as UMB though which was nice.
BSnead4n6
02-22-2004, 07:13 PM
alright, I have a question for people how have sat both lawn and under the pavillion. I have sat lawn the past two years, right in the front. The sound quality out there seems pretty bad, especially with everyone being so loud. Does it get any better under the pavillion? Is it enough to justify spending the extra bucks to do so?

I've had both, and I also find that it is better under the pavillion. After going for it last year, I am definitely again.
I think, however, that you should go with lawn! The fewer people requesting pavillion seats, the better chances of tickets falling into the lap of me! Just kidding, though. Go with pavillion!

It is all a matter of luck as far as tailgaiting goes. There are signs everywhere that say you can't but every year I see people doing it. The Maryland Heights PD is usually out in full force for DMB as compared to other concerts I've been to.
For all those concerned with parking, consider the premium parking (I think 15 or 20 bucks). It took me ten minutes to get out and onto the interstate last year vs. waiting two hours the previous years.

Ticketmaster has never let me down. Where warehouse gave me row SS at UMB last year. So in 4 days I will no longer have to make that decision because my membership is up.

I got my premium parking pass through TM last year. There should be an option just above or below the concert on their website, it will have the same date, time, location, etc. You can also get them at the box office at UMB.
With TM you can get better seats if your patient, WH gets you in the show for sure, its all a matter of opinion.

I put in for tickets but have never been to Riverport to see a show before. I was wondering if there are any places to camp near the venue, or should I plan on a hotel. Also, what's the lot scene like before the show?

I'd plan on a hotel. I've never heard much as for camping around Riverport (UMB). It is still a cool place though. As for the scene, find out yourself I guess, I like it.

Thanks for the info, I'll check out some hotels near the venue.
I guess I was more asking if there is a lot of tailgaitng, is it like Alpine/Deer Creek where everyone goes hours before the show to grill out and party, or is the security real strict there.
blakers81
03-04-2004, 12:47 AM
It's not super strict security because you can hang out in the lot no problem. However, it's not like some venues where you show up with a grill some food and some beer, just hanging out with everybody.
That's what I've seen at least others may have a different view.

Row X is only in the center section at UMB.
Nonetheless, these are some of the best seats to have in the place. We sat in 139 and 140 last year. We saw Robert Randolph hanging out with some girls in the VIP boxes right in front of us during the concert. These seats are more elevated than those in the lower pavillion so you are more on eye level with the band, the only bad part is that people like to use that front row to cross from the left side to the right side of the pavillion (or vice versa). Fortunately, security does a pretty good job at keeping them out during the show (only DMB, they weren't there during the opening act) but some will get thru.
Have fun, these are great seats... still waiting for my WH assignments

The WH said in its email announcing confirmations
"The section/row information for confirmed seats
will be forthcoming. We are working to provide this information to you within the next few weeks."
It's been 11 days so we still got some more waiting to do it seems.
More than likely it will be much longer than that, owing to the WH's attempts to stop scalping/brokering.

I wonder what chance there is that the flecktones show up in St. Louis. They have to be in Colorado on the 18th so probably not but it would be really cool if they did.

Well, I guess I can't speak for the first row cause I was row R right section last year. But, I know what you're talking about. The people in the front rows were into the show. They were jamming and dancing to the songs. I remember thinking, "Man, I wish I was up there". But if you ever looked behind you, all you could see was people standing and staring as if they they were hypnotized. Especially on the lawn. I went to the lawn after Crash Into Me to see some friends up there and it seemed so dead. I don't know, just my opinion.

Well, when I'm in the back or middle of the pavilion I dance a bit but anymore I just stand and watch in amazement at the boys doing their thing up on stage. I guess it just hypnotizes me to watch all of them and their movements and little quirks on every song, it's just a very relaxing time for me I guess. Oh, and I'm pretty drunk too so just taking it easy and chilling is the way to go I think.

I can't wait!!!!!!! We are traveling via the love train (amtrak) from San Antonio and we are staying at Harrah's which I hear is within walking distance from the pavillion. I still haven't got me seating section from the WH. I hate that! I want to know ASAP so that I can make alternate arrangements if needed. Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting on the warehouse!!

Looks like traffic might not be as much of a problem this year.
Hopefully....

What are the names of some of those hotels right up the street?....I know that there were like 3-4 up there, right after you get off of the interstate.
I am not going to make the mistake I did last year and go up without reservations. I need to get something booked now.
I was thinking about Harrah's, but that's on the south side, and I would prefer to stay on the north side.

I finally bought tickets today... they released a bunch on ticketbastard. Left section row FF seats 19 and 21. Not the best, but still not a bad view. There are still a bunch of tickets up on the site. Now i can focus on getting alpine squared away.
edit: so i did another search just to see what was left and Right Center row GG seats 2 and 4 were available. I'm pissed now.

I believe the one closest is a Windgate Inn and then also the Holiday Inn isn't very far.

66 days.
I noticed that all of a sudden most of the posters are gone, too. I'm back in Columbia now, so I can't say for sure, but I think there is still one up on Lindbergh in South County, or perhaps in Kirkwood. It seemed like Friday, driving down Lindbergh, I saw about 3 signs within about 6 miles, and I think one of them was left up. If someone takes it, take a picture and post it! I saw the pic above, but I was hoping to get a better quality pic.
I'm really glad to hear that they are trying to improve the traffic. It has sure been a pain in the past!

No they're not covered by the pavillion but you'll be happy with them. You'll be suprised at how close row KK is. I think the crowd will recieve O.A.R. well. They have pretty good following in St. Louis.

Iscored orchestra seats off instants last year so it's worth the gamble. Right now I've got Left BB, and Center UU. Not very good but it's the opener so I could really care less. We're gonna get to hear a few of the new songs first!!!

I got QQ center from the WH. Definitely a little frustrated, but last year I started with PP left-center before I got upgraded, so I guess there's hope. Plus, when we got there and were sitting in PP we didn't really think it was all that bad, and at least this year we'll be in the center. I don't know - I guess I'm just disappointed right now.
Anyway, 64 days...

warehouse must have alot of tickets in the center section AA though whatever it goes to because i also got a double letter (HH) for my seat location. I actually feel a little jipped. Last year i got 6th row at Little Rock. I have be a member since 1999. I thought they gave seniority seating. Anyway i probably wont renew my membership this year cause i could probably do better with TM. Sorry I had to vent my disappointment here.

I was really looking forward to the tour opener, but because my pharmacy internship site won't let me off for a week to see DMB, I'm gonna have to give up my warehouse tickets for this show. I'm looking for a trade for Deer Creek night 2, or to sell these for face. The tickets are Left, row BB.
I also posted over in the ticket trading area, if anyones intersted let me know.
