*crosses fingers* :) edit: i was at 9/20/03 last year- great stuff.

i'm not a warehouse member, so i'm relying on a friend (stephdmbcrush ;))

slight potential that we can score 2nd row tickets- but simply getting to go would be absolutely fantastic :D

I think I'm gonna try for this one. I might not be able to go to Charlotte, and Raleigh is out of the question. If this fails I might have to go to Antioch,TN or Virginia Beach.

Can someone comment on theis venue? Crowd wise. Tailgating. Soundwise. How much better is shell than lawn? Compare to some other Southeast Venues, because I might be persuaded into a road trip.

Ben F.
02-19-2004, 03:01 PM
eh- line of site is mediocre. crowd noise was great- everyone very energetic, and very into the songs- you could feel the energy go down when dave played 'where are you going', but other than that- solid crowd, very appreciative. tailgating- eh, one paved parking lot, and on the other side of the venue, one with ants/weeds, pretty standard i would imagine, people throwing frisbees, playing guitar, drinking, etc.

soundwise- great as far as i could tell.

[then again- that was my first show- so i don't have anything to compare to]

If they return with the same energy as 9-20, it's gonna be a damn good show. It could use a little Last Stop instead of opening the encore with WAYG.

I've been to the past few shows at Lakewood - oops I mean HiFi...

Getting out of the parking lot is a bitch but after a night of DMB and with some good friends around, it's bearable.

I'm super excited.

Always thought the bands energy here was in top form.. even when they're mellow, you can tell they're really into it (like 2001). I highly recommend seeing a show here.... unless of course you're a warehouse member, then don't bother for tickets.. I don't want to compete with you for a good seat :)

last year i was afraid my friend and i were going to get shot after the show.

we were inline... on the road getting out and this "shaddy" car comes up beside us and ask us to roll down our window... so i did and these two huge guys were like "do you know where KFC is?" i just laughed at them and told them that we were from out of town... they rolled up their windows and continued to "bump" some Nas.

it was very odd.

Yeah, in Atlanta, that is the prelude to a drive by. "Do you know where KFC is" is a phrase gangsters use to initiate the drive by. If you believe that, I have a soundcheck of MacHead to sell you.

9/20/03 was awesome, just overshadowed by CP. My friend was a 3rd year I believe last year, and he also got back of pavilion, but he just came back and chilled on the lawn with us. Lawn is kickass!!

Yeah, that's what I did. I started my car, and when I realized I wasn't going anywhere, turned it off and walked around. Gave out a few free shows I had burned (Yoshi's), saw some girls with a flat tire get it changed before traffic even moved (and gave them a CD), talked with some other Floridians. Finally hit the road around 12:15, I guess?

I'll bet money that DRH will not be there... He no longer lives in Atlanta, he moved to LA in late 2002 (look for him to pop up out there!). He's been touring with Mayer so it's also possible that he'll be too busy to hook up with the guys.

Yeah.. he used to be an Atlanta based artist that had his own gig, now he's in LA playing, and producing. Great guy. I'm from Georgia and my brother was friends with him (kept prying him for backstage access at those shows, but no luck!). He played in Dionne Farris's band.. that's how DMB got to know him.. Farris opened for DMB in 95/96. He's fronted a band, had a solo gig, and now he's producing for upcoming artists and touring with Mayer as his guitar player. Very talented guy!

I plan on going down to GA and hittin' the show with my sister who lives in Atlanta. Granted, like others pointed out HiFi is not exactly the best amp., I always have a good time with my sis. As long as we don't get stuck on the lawn, I'm sure the trip down to the show will be worth it.

And hey, if they asshole who dumped all of his beer on me at last year's ATL show is out there reading this...I remember what you look like, and I got a couple-o-beers waiting for ya! :evil

Atlanta is a fun town.. come early and see who's playing on the 99x live on the bricks in centennial park on Friday Night, there may be a good band at the Tabernacle too... oh.. and if you're in a mellow mood, go check out some great live jazz at The Whisper Room at Churchill Grounds

Been in since the beginning... I have to say that the WH has been good to me..

but in Atlanta, I usually end up with center section around 4th/5th row... now i'm a little closer, but off to the side.. so maybe more members are requesting Atlanta these days. Hey hey! We've only got 3 days left!

I was wondering if any of y'all have an extra ticket. One of my friends just now decided she wanted to go to this show, too, but I don't have a ticket for her (she thought I did, opps). Anyways, just thought I'd check.

Hope to see some of y'all in ATL!

they could play this set and some DMB fans would still say oh "were you at the show...it was awesome to be there"

I did it

Seek Up(tease) dave flicks off the crowd
Angel
The Space between
Halloween(tease)

show over go home
