anyone know why dave kept changing guitars after each of the first 5 or 6 songs? does he always do that? they were all 6 strings, and i wasn't aware of him using different 6 strings for different songs. maybe i'm just uninformed? it didn't look like he was breaking strings or anything either.

I'm not a guitar expert, but I'm guessing because of different tuning. I know a few songs are in dropped D (?) For some reason, he just puts on a capo for Thing, but I think the others are just switched out... <shrug>

Hello Again- Easy to tell that Dave loves this song

Ants- Dave must have broke a string on the guitar but he kepts
singing the lyrics until a guy from side stage brang him a new one.

Tripping Billies- Best encore song there is. IMO

The new songs> everyone got up and left during the new songs. Pretty depressing.

Other Notes:
Carter's bandage was shot to hell by the end of the night. I remember several people from previous shows mentioning that when he first had the bandage, they didn't shoot him much with the cameras. Well, he was by far the most covered tonight by the cameramen, and there was no sign of pain. He seemed to step it up as night went on, and Roi seemed to step in for him too throughout the night (Roi had a good night). I've seen 18 shows, and this one definitely ranks in the top 2.


Are you kidding?? You could def. tell that Carter was in pain. There was one shot of him doing a drum roll on WWYS and it was clear that he was hurting. He also didnt sing which was weird.

Ahh, nice and rested...damn all that driving wore me out to no end!
So, it was my first Darien experience...Some of the concert highlights include:

Pig - first time hearing it live...I was so excited...

STJL - second time hearing it, I could hear it every concert and not get sick of it..was it just me or did Dave screw up the first verse and sang the the second one twice? Still, it rocked

RECENTLY!!!! - I had no voice after this song...me and Jeff were hoping for Recently since TO...I was so F'in excited!!

Ants - only the second time I've heard this song...energy was incredible

I really dig the new songs...especially Hello Again and Joy Ride...which have evolved since the TO show. And Dave is scatting like a champion!!!

Now, for the venue comments...

We drove 8 hours to Darien (left at like 6am) so me and Jeff were completed exhausted, but we're troopers and went to the venue after checking into our hotel in Batavia.
We parked on this guys lawn beside the entrance to the venue (so I didnt get to tailgate with any ANTS) but we sat listened to DMB and drank some beers.
So once in the venue, I have never seen anyone projectile vomit before in my life...but Darien broke that cherry...people puking everywhere. This girl in front of us was hanging off all these guys around her (grabbing their crotch and ass)..finally we asked one of the guys who she was with..he said no one, that she came alone and they were afraid on how she was going to get home (she was way too loaded).
The crowd around us was great..some people sat down but everyone was singing along and dancing. I didnt get to take any pics (which is sad) cause we were too close to security and I didnt want to take the chance. Anyone get any good pics?

Steve - Glad I got to see you before the show and during...CANADA KICKS ASS!!! And I got to say hi to Matt, but briefly. I sat in front of a girl who sat beside us at TO, which was cool....
Well, thats about it...my first DL concert was great..the venue is so-so. It only took us like 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot so that was a bonus....
Its sad cause DL was my last DMB show this tour :( Bring on the next tour!!!

Great performance, great company, great roller coasters.

Unbelievably - I think we were out of the lot by 11:13. Walking to the truck took longer than driving out.



To make a long story short, after accidently blowing my friend off at SPAC nite 1, Fenton saw my friend again last night at Darien after the show and called him over to the soundboard. He told my friend to write down his address and he let me give him mine as well. If Fenton was being sincere then my friend and I will be recieving the full bands autographs in the mail very soon. pretty sweet

That is fucking awesome.



The only thing I didn't like were those damn seats not flipping back. The backs of my calves are bruised to shit from dancing!

Sorry to anyone who tried to reach us through my cell phone. I left it in Canada which is not like me at all. Very sorry.

Started off the day with Superman! Wow that will wake you up in a hurry!

Those seats were crappy for dancing.
Cell phone service was BS, almost impossible to make a call. I hope that all my "attempted" calls don't show up on my bill.
Rollercoasters scare the shit out of me - I let my gf down bigtime by not riding on all of them.



I remember the first time I rode it, when it first opened, my friends dad got us VIP passes somehow, so we went the first day, and as we're climbing up the hill the train STOPS like 15 feet from the top, and sat there for a good 10 minutes. Oh my God I nearly pissed myself it was so scary sitting up there almost 200 feet high not knowing what was going on.

My heart would have stopped beating.

I was very sick throughout the whole thing (I have the beginnings of whats starting to look like pneumonia), at least security asked me if I was ok a couple times.

Overall, a good show, probably in the middle of the pack as far as my shows go. Of course the seats make everything better, and the illness makes everything worse, so who really knows.

I'm really sorry to hear this. My gf wasn't feeling well and I felt for her the whole show too.

I felt really bad for this person who was in a wheelchair trying to watch a show but these asshole kids who were high kept dancing in the aisle in front of him and actually hit his chair which was not cool. Then on of their GFs tryed to pull him back but he was like no im staying where I want to..you could see how upset the handicapped person was....Why are people assholes.

That is horse shit and would take away from me enjoying the show if I had to watch that happen - I would feel terrible just seeing it go on.

Definitely agree. We were near the front of 201 and had 6 people with All Access passes sitting next to us. They sat for most of the show, didn't know a single song, and left early.

I didn't get pics either. Snuck my camera in but security was CRAZY...Could hardly even have your cellphone in your hand without the guy (who was pacing the rows all night) come RIGHT UP to your seat and check out what you were doing..he was like an annoying elementary school teacher.

It's also sad that we didnt get a LIOG - that would have made the whole 4 shows for me. But oh well, absence makes the heart grow fonder :)

I'm tired after typing all this so I will keep my own comments to a minimum: Highlights: Pig was nice, as was space between - watching fireworks and rollercoasters added to the show as well.
It feels wierd to post space as a highlight

One song encore, in my mind, was a letdown - especially when I was trying to anticipate what was coming next.
Getting out of the lot in a few minutes may also have been a highlight.

Hey guys sorry I haven't been around this thread or the SPAC last few days, right after Darien I went up to camp, and tomorrow I'll be at Hartford, but I figured I should do my Darien review thing now.

First the park. Not as busy as I thought. Got there around 11, the guys made me park the absolute farthest away from the PAC and the park. Superman was great...only fifteen minute wait. Mind Eraser also had a very short line. Pissed off that for another coaster (I think it was the Viper, I know that it is the one right by the Batman stage thing) we were waiting for some mechanical problem. We were right at the front, two rides away from going on it, when the woman said we would have to wait a few minutes. That turned into ten minutes, then a guy came on and said the ride would be closed for 45 minutes for repairs. Oh well. Went swimming in the afternoon then got ready to tailgate around 3.

Got out to tailgate. Our friends that were gonna bring the alc got busted the night before at the state campground and lost all their stuff. We watched some people play some various beer games then walked around. Met up with some people. Got in the PAC around 7. Galactic had a pretty good opening set. Not really into the woman singing, but the jams were nice and a nice Led Zepplin cover to finish.

DDTW was a great opener, Dave really wailed. Pig was a surprise, heard it at SPAC and really liked it. The new songs were all great. I loved hearing Thing again. Crush was great, my friend called his gf and they listened to it together, he really enjoyed that. STJL was intense as usual. Too Much was the sickest version I have ever heard. Recently was also pretty cool. Space Between was a first for me, the crowd went nuts for this song and I enjoyed it. Warehouse was sweet. The tease was a nice surprise, as was Ants b/c it was played both Saturday and Sunday. Billies was a nice encore. I would have liked two songs but I guess the original encore was just Stay and I'll take a one song Billies encore over a one song Stay encore anyday.

Didn't get out of the lot until 2 am. We were parked at the absolute end so we waited until everyone else got out. My friend jumpstarted a car and the people gave him some cash which was nice. When the lot had no more lines of cars, we left and went to Denny's in Batavia. Got to our motel (Super 8 in Batavia) around 3. Great day overall.

It wasn't that much diff than SPAC, only song not played at SPAC was Space Between. Still it was great. It was nuts because LeRoi didn't wear his shades at all. My friend was a DMB virgin and heard nasty versions of his two DMB favorites: Ants and Too Much. We sat section 202 which was my best view yet. I'm really liking the new songs, especially Joy Ride and Thing. Can't wait until tomorrow, 6th row at Hartford!

Unfortunately, didn't hit Darien this year. It was a staple for me in 2002 and 2003, but when the tour dates came out it just didn't work. Mid-week meant I'd have to take at least half of Tuesday off, and Wednesday (or work REALLY tired). Plus, I was saving money for Gorge.

I was kinda nervous watching the set list on Tuesday. Knowing my luck, the year I skip Darien I was worried it would be the show of the year. Looks like a great night, but I'm not kicking myself for missing it. I did hit night 2 at SPAC (show was similar to Toronto, but what an awesome venue!) plus I've got Gorge coming. I'm satisfied :)

I just love Garrett Bastable's tapes, and he usually hits Rochester/Buffalo shows.

the other source on ants has a lot less crowd noise, but very heavy on the drums (so you can't hear dave very well) (i have ddtw downloaded, thats it, btw). there is some crowd, so its not IEM. doesn't sound quite right, though, i'm still waiting on naylor/bastable.

On another note that little shit on ebay still has his bootleg 06.30.04 and 07.13.04 CD shows of DMB listed. Ebay better snag that shit before they sell. I was browsing over at nancies this morning during that brief little downtime AM.org had this morning. you have to download a shn conversion tool. and it downloads the songs from 1 show continuously. each .ants file contains the data to download all the songs from that show in sequential order

i've been downloading shows lately (bit torrent) and when i go to convert shn-->wav i am getting a "no magic number" error. anyone have insight to this? all the file sizes add up when i check them with other files on a FTP, and if i download through a FTP the songs work...but most FTPs are full at night and i cant log into them to download
