I'll listen to DMB whenever. It doesn't stop if I'm going to a show. In fact, it may increase to the dismay of my wife. :D

I listen to DMB 90% of the time I'm in the Jeep, so why alter my life for a DMB concert? Gotta brush up on the lyrics, and stuff.(as if I need it).

I listen to more dmb before a show than any other time. I dont see how it can take away from a concert. I'm also "that guy" who sometimes wears dmb shirts to the shows.

I think i'm gonna go and get one of those shade things too, last year I cooked out in the lot, if it's gonna be that hot again at least we can be in the shade.

I had a pretty hardcore punk rocker friend in high school who refused to listen to a band's music when we were going to a show. i think his main argument was that doing so took away from the show we were about to see... i was just curious about what you guys thought. personally, I don't think it matters w/ dmb.

OK, so back to the music discussion if I may....as far as listinging to dave before the show (driving from hotel / in lot), I prefer not to, but thereis nothing wrong with it as long as you don't blast Satellite, Crash, SB,...you get the point. But, other music loaded in the cd changer will be: WSP, Beastie Boys, Robert Randolph, Cypress Hill - I like to leave my options open until I get into the car heading to the show, that is when I make my decision.

Speaking of hot tubs...what would you do if you were me?

I got qualified to win a hot tub worth 8,000 bucks on the radio. Here's how it works. 8 people get into the hot tub (no water in it) and sit in it outside at a very busy intersection (noisy) for as long as you can and the last person to get out wins it. You get 5 mins/hour out of the tub to do whatever and you can have visitors bring you whatever you want 24/7. The problem. The contest starts on August 31st. I leave for alpine on the 3rd. Say the contest lasts that long, should I bail out of the hot tub or bail on the alpine trip?

I'd do it but I'd have to bail on the hot tub come Alpine time. These shows are going to kick ass.

How is the sound from the lawn at alpine? Never been there and the lawn looks to be enourmous. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Brett
I think the sound is pretty good....which is a good reason why it's one of the few venues I will GLADLY sit in the lawn.

At Alpine 9/1/02 i remember the center speaker was out in the lawn.....and about that time gravedigger was farely new, especially to casual fans. So me being retartedly drunk (not in an obnoxious way, more of a "lets dance and sing out asses off way:hug ) am singing the words to gravedigger unknowingly that the women in from of me was, to say the least becoming a tad irritated. 1/2 way through the song she comes up to me and says "good thing you know the words cause the speakers are out and I can't even hear DAVE SINGING!!"

yeah so i laughed her insinuation off and kept right on rockin!:lol

well kids thats my story for the day

Bad news this morning.

My roommate crashed his brand new '04 Wrangler Rubicon last night. He's OK, but so pissed I havn't talked to him yet. I know it was a one car accident but I don't even know if this happened on road or off yet. He managed to smash up the front right pretty badly. It's driveable but not legally as the turn signals and side markers are gone. Don't know if he'll be making the trip now since $500 goes to deductible. Plus, I don't know how long it'll be in the shop getting fixed. Photo attached below.

This reminds me of the time that a 15 year old on his learner's permit ran a red light and totalled my Talon TSi the night before leaving for Alpine '00.

Shit Happens.
To me.
A lot.

How long of a drive from Riverbend to Alpine??I believe mapquest says about 4 1/2 so good thing i have a bit of break on that friday

Hey, we'll be at Riverbend too...where are you sitting?I think i'll have to sit lawn, theres 3-4 of us going and it was last minute so finding pavilion together now is near impossible. I know i heard the lawn SUCKS there but a show is a show and as long as I can hear them jam and I got room to dance then I could care less:hug

Where you staying out there, I am getting in touch with this guy from the Riverbend thread who says he has family who owns land which happens to be a campground RIGHT next to the venue (10minute walk) so hopefully that works.

Doing good...kinda tired...and it's Monday.

How was your weekend?
Yea, Monday blows, especially after a Friday off. Came back to a pile of work so big I could barely see my desk. :(

Good weekend, though. Went to a BBQ for a friend that's moving out to CO and got to see a ton of people that we haven't seen in quite some time, including a couple that it turns out will be at N1 of Alpine and N3 of Gorge...yea, more Minnesotans! I've known these guys for a while now and never knew that they were closet DMB fans...because they're afraid to admit it to our group of friends because of all the shit they'd get...fricken Spreadheads :BANG.

Where you staying out there...

We're not staying, we're just going to drive in for the show. It's only about a 4 hour drive, so it's not that bad. My advice about the lawn is to get there early. In 2002 we were literally the first people on the lawn so we had a decent spot, but the rest of the few good areas filled up quickly. Two of us went to sit in the pavilion seats we had and luckily got an upgrade to 3rd row, but the rest of our group that stayed on the lawn got pushed around by people crowding the front area of the lawn at the last minute.

YA you have to admit even mini ditka was pretty cool.

I admit i am a huge lawn fan at alpine, whats the big obsession with the pavillion there, since i have never even tried to get pav tickets. the lawn is the greatest party on the tour

EddieW33
07-19-2004, 08:00 PM
The obsession with pavillion tix is simple...once you sit in the pavillion, you don't want to deal with the drunk frat boys screaming along to some songs (oof key of course), obnoixious chicks who sit there and talk and schreeeeeech when Crash or Sat. is played, and oh yeah, you don't have to deal with leaving the greatest party on earth (the parking lot) to be one of the first in the gates to run over the big hill and get a good spot. I love Alpine, but the lawn has become a little annoying through the years. Oh yeah, you don't have to deal with the steep lawn all night - it can get very tirsome on your body.

Get those BBQs ready, fill the coolers, we are on our way!!!!

CHICAGODMB41
07-19-2004, 08:08 PM
I love Dave, alot. Part of the reason I first got into him was the shows. The atmosphere, the people going. I have meet some really cool people in the lots. (Best lots Alpine and Mars) I love talking and meeting people from all over. Than when the show starts I just have to leave all these great people i just met and go sit with some ass who scalped his 3rd row tix off ebay for 500 who is gonna screach to every radio song, and get pissed when they play his new stuff. I remember at mars a couple years ago when Lillywhite came out and everyone in the lawn was singing alot, it was great an un-released CD and the lwan was singing along with him. I guarantee no one who wasnt a real fan was out there singing with us lawn people.

EddieW33

Scalpers suck! I only get a few chances each summer to see dmb, and it is becoming harder every year to get ok seats! I agree, it sucks when an unappreciating fan can put down $500, and have an OK time. I would do anything to have "good seats" consistantly. But, when it comes down to it, I have met many really cool people in the pav at alpine - and look forward to meeting new friends this summer!

As for the monkey. It's the thread's mascot (although I made him famous). My vote would be for something Alpine-ish like Troy or Yeller (for the Yellow lot :D).

There will only be cow products on our grille; ground cow patties and all-cow hot dogs.

For those of you who are bringing FRS radios to Alpine for easy communication, here are the primary and secondary codes for them I propose. Check them out and make sure your radio has the ability to use them. We'll use the primary channel unless something is interfering with that frequency, then we'll have to switch to the secondary. Remember that people can hear your messsages at any time. The privacy code is there to keep people on the same channel from hearing other codes. Let me know if you have any questions or technical issues. The codes are in my sig line as well.

Primary Channel 12 code 34
Secondary Channel 6 code 34

Us girls like to take it up a notch, ya know. We lack that masculine "must eat meat" tendency and instead go for fancy-schmancy ala Martha Stewart.

I'd never even thought of salmon but now that you mentioned it I might consider it...would be easy to marinate and seal up in the vacuum sealer on Friday night and should stay as good as any meat in the cooler.

I am wondering if anyone knows the seating at Alpine Valley well. My friend has tickets and they claim to be in section 101 ADA and they say accessible on them. I am guessing that these are wheelchair accessible seats. Does anyone know if you have to be handicap to sit there and where are these seats located? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
These seats are in our new handicapped deck and are located at the front of section 201. Our new interactive seating chart should be up within a couple of weeks.

Regards,
Brian

BACK TO ALPINE TALK!!!!

What is the choice grill food for most of you guys???

The past few years we've stuck to the basics, brats burgers and hot dogs. Last year I got a little more creative and grilled wings which I later doused in BW3's Medium sauce, top off the night with say goodbye and that makes for a great day at Alpine. This year me and my girlfriend are going to try a seafood theame for night one. I'm planing on grilling some salmon steaks, and shes gonna put some shirmp-cobobs together, so hopefully it works out.

So what kinda beer is everyone bringing? I'm thinking of going with some spotted cow and miller lite

Margarita's are the way to go, with lots of real good tequilla. Gots to have the Goose Island IPA, and Summer Ale. Gotta do the reg burgers brats and stuff for food, too much fancy cooking takes away from frisbee and drinking.

They sell beer at gas stations(I am not sure of liquor). There is at least 1 store in East Troy (or some other nearby town - not too far away). There should be plenty of people whop would help you out. Corona & Sam Adam's Summer Ale will for sure be in play around my car!
