Random sighting.
Just went to the grocery store and they had a shrek2 display by the checkout with snack foods on it and it said "Eat, Stink, and Be Scary." The girl at the checkout asked me why I was laughing. I pointed it out and she smiles and says "where's the 'for tomorrow we die' part" Good times.

Good morning Alpine!!!!!

-2 for using the word solutions. They don't sell solutions, they sell furniture.

I hate the current trend of selling everything as a solution. Like everything in my life is a problem that needs a solution. i.e. Jiffy lube sells oil changes, not engine longevity solutions.

I personally dont think its overpriced, my girlfriend and I have gotten nearly ALL our stuff for our apartment at school from there and probably spent under $700

However I wouldnt say its the place to shop for a new home or for longevity....

We'll need to verify the ass-making at Alpine. Just to make sure you are right. ;)
I don't want to torture you guys, so trust me on this one.

I had started out the evening with a rousing rendition of Bob Marley's "3 Little Birds" that was very well-received by the crowd.

I figured that was it for the evening until someone, knowing my love of DMB, pointed out that there were some DMB songs available. My choices were Crash :freak, Satellite :freak or Ants so that's the one I picked. When I got up there the lady said, "You know, this is a really tough one" and I responded, "Oh, trust me, I know Dave's songs." Needeless to say I really gained some additional respect for Dave's vocal abilities. I was sooooooo bad that a group of guys (who all looked like they should be at a show - porn star sunglasses, A&F clothing, etc.) actually got up and joined me because they couldn't stand to hear me sing it alone anymore. :o

My friends said the lot scene was non-existent. But I think she was talking about vending, since there's usually a ton of that at Dead shows, but we know how they're cracking down on that at AVMT. I'm sure there was the usual grilling, etc.

BEF would REALLY rock my socks! One of my all time faves. And, hey! It's about a monkey!

I'd actually prefer to save LLD for Gorge since Kevin will be there with me and we've tossed around the idea of using that as our wedding song.

Plus, if they play LLD at Alpine I'll have to sit and listen to Aimee bitching about Eddie and then I'll have to kick her ass.

I'm sure I'm not the first to have asked this, but I'm not sure I want to sift through 140-something pages to find the answer. I was planning on camping at Bong on August 7, but I forgot to reserve until now and of course it's all booked. Are there any other places to camp near Alpine or am I pretty much out of luck?

So is there ever any rain at Alpine or just humidity :( ?
It rains. Every year it rains. Every year I come home soaked and happy. It'll rain, hopefully just pre-dawn showers, but it's bound to happen.

My list of packed items includes:
Seat covers
Rain gear
Squegee(for the rain on the inside of the windshield)
Ski goggles
Garbage bags(to put everything in.)

I've learned the hard way. Rain I can handle, it's the hail I hate.

mihighdavehead

I have a bikini top(it covers the area above my head from the windshield to the first roll bar. I also have two piece canvas doors and a duster cover(Covers the cargo area flat, in my sig photo). However, the area behind my head is wide open. If it rains on the freeway, the water blows in from the back onto the dash and windshield. Hard to see. The goggles keep the rain out of my eyes. Good times.

Howdy everyone....this our group's fist road trip to Alpine Valley. From reading many of the posts I have drawn the following conclusions:
1. Bug Spray. Bring gallons of bugspray
2. Bong is where the camping is at. We are sooo there
3. The humidity in East Troy in August rivals the Amazon Basin
4. Car pool from the camp site to the venue.

I need help with these items:
1. What time do the parking lots open @ Alpine Valley MC?
2. What is the security situation in the parking lots-do they leave you alone?
3. More fun....partying in campsite or parking lot?
4. Anyone else from the bluegrass state making the trip?:D

Thanks for your help!

sturgeon bay is gorgeous. when we finished the ride my brother and I went swimming in the lake but my brother didn't have sandals or watershoes so he went barefoot. You know it. Last year I collected 6 hours of footage of which 30% was usable. This footage floors my friends. they see it and can't believe the madness.

I'll definitely have it out this year. I have 6 tapes and two batteries, a new wide angle lens attachment, and a UV filter. My new microphone should be in anyday now.
I also have a DVD+R drive that needs to go into my computer, and as soon as I get a firewire card I can make DVDs out of my footage.

:lol Nice use of legal jargon!

Matt, have you figured out all the issues you were having about who is coming with you, etc.? Didn't you have a feeling that someone was going to bail?

:thumbsup Nice touch. Would be nice if they played this but I wouldn't count on it since it's become such a "Friends" thing. Maybe another "Stir It Up"?
As I learned from experience, this is a nice, easy song to sing. Ants...not so much. :o No wonder the frog visits Dave's throat so often!

Then I'll really never get any work done!

I think I technically have a Yahoo account, or at least a username. Got it when I set up for their "Launch" music thing. I can hontestly say I've never used it though. When they kept asking me to install stuff I got freaked out that the network gestapo at work was going to have a fit. What happens when one of you clicks the Yahoo icon under my avatar?

Well, it doesn't look like we're anywhere near each other. :( You might just have to make a quick stop at the Country Inn & Suites on your way into the lot on Sunday. It's literally down the road from the venue.

No time for PM's, I just found out that my delivery crew rolled the delivery truck and one is being life-flighted to surgery with a punctured lung and a ruptured spleen and the other has a compound fracture in each arm. I'm off to the hospitals. The Iowa State Patrol just said that had they been wearing their seatbelts, they'd be dead.

UPS Tracking numbers won't be active until they pick up the packages about 2:30 Central Time.
