So do we go to Alpine this weekend and pretend it is happening all over again?:bounce
Ummmm... No. This week's acts are Michael W. Smith and OzzFest. Don't think there will be a lot of people camping out to catch that double bill.

OzzFest scares me.
as it should. I had the pleasure of going to one last summer when I interned with a radio station here in the city, I have never seen so many freaks in one place ever.

I swear if it were to rain, every last one of them would be running to the bathroom to reapply their makeup.

Streakers?? Damn I missed out :( Although I did see a lot of boobs which was nice. We took pictures of everyone's nipples at our site so I will post the link when it's up. I got a call from Crumbo saying to go to Blue 3, but I got there too late. I am still so high from the weekend, crazy times. Wish I was going to Gorge...

But totally worth it - don't you think? It only ended up being $85 each when split between the four of us girls. Maybe we should try to make some friends over there and ask them to put aside an Ants block of rooms? We'll just bring the party back with us from the lot. :D

I stayed there this year too, what did you end up paying per night because the rate that we got when we checked in was definitely not the rate that I was quoted when I made the reservation. When I made the reservation in February it said that the first night would be $90 and the second would be $120, but when we checked in it said $179 per night.

They always hike the regular rates when there's shows at Alpine. You probably got some stupid kid on the phone when you made your reservation. The rate for a room with 2 Queen beds is $119 per night for two adults, then add $16 per extra adult per night, plus tax.

I'll be there for sure. What's the cancellation policy b/c someone should just book a bunch of rooms and I'm sure somebody would take it over for them.

:thumbsup :) ANTS PARTY AT THE CI&S!

When you call (which literally has to be within the hour of tourdates being announced) they will make a very specific point of telling you that there is no cancellation or whatsoever. Not even the day after you make the reservation (which for me this year was on Feb. 19th).

I think, though, that if enough of us are staying there that you're right - someone could just book a bunch of rooms and between all of us on Ants they'll get used. Whomever made the reservations though would have to be sure to talk with the manager, Michael Brown, to make sure it's Kosher to do it that way (transfer the reservation to another person).

The thing to remember is for whomever is going to use a room to call a week before to give them their personal credit card # becuase they ran the actual charges for my room on Wed. before the show to "expedite check-in" (read: make sure they didn't get screwed). So that way whomever reserves the chunk doesn't end up with thousands of dollars of charges on one card and have to have everyone else reimburse them with cash or checks. (Unless you get airline miles or something - then you'd get like 1,400 miles for paying for 4 rooms!)

Oy, I'm rambling, sorry. Maybe I should've skipped that third cup of coffee.

I did it on the internet (on February 13th I think). I had it in writing what the rate was that I was quoted. I should have said something but after driving for 9 hours I just wanted to get in my room. We just had a room with 1 king size bed. In fact, here's my confirmation e-mail:

This is definately different than what they tell you on the phone...as WB said, they remind you when you make the reservations that there are no cancellations. Wow, I should have tried to book my room at CI & S online, but I ended up getting a great rate in a room 30 - 40 minutes away, not a bad drive. Along the way, I also got the name of another hotel right 5 minutes up I-43 from Alpine- gonna check into it for next year.

Crumbo - once again, good luck with the inspection today, maybe all this BS will finally end :hug!

Well, I think I am finally over my cold, and it has been a tough few days, but I am still pumped over Alpine, and I was getting excited when I was watching the X-Games from Cali (motocross at Home Depot Center) where I will be seeing Dave on last time this summer!

Being 5'2" (and on the lawn) - I didn't see much of anything at all. But I had a guy pick me up during Bartendar and was amazed! I couldn't believe there was actually a VIEW, too! I don't feel like I missed out on anything, though. I'm still in awe!

Does anyone know if either of the shows are already available for BT anywhere, I'm only asking because superfreak is out so that means there are recordings somewhere, any help on where I can get them would be great considering the only places I know are AM.org and STG, and thats been down for a while.

thats where I was at too! It was a really nice hotel, and a pretty nice little town. Before the show on Sunday we went to Target, and Starbucks which was on the way to 43. Any town that has a Target is decent if you ask me!!!!!! :)

I work right next to the Courtyard Marriot, just to the east. If you saw the building that said Smith Centre in front and R.A. Smith and NSE on the building, that was where I work.

Yes, this is a nice part of town, and Bluemound Road has everything you need on it, except a Target which is down a bit on Moorland Road.

I know where that is!!!!!!! Is Bluemound Road the one with the Pick n Save, and Fridays? Cause if so, that street does have EVERYTHING! We bought ALL of our alcohol there, and later on we ate at the Fridays when we check out of the hotel!

I'm going through the Alpine withdrawl too. I hate the week or two after it because I always miss it so damn much and know there is another year of waiting. No matther where I go to see the band, nothing is quite like Alpine. I've always said it would be fine by me if summer was only two days long as long as it was the two days of DMB at Alpine. In the meantime I am putting together a little Alpine video with all of my pics to remember the weekend. Can't wait until next year!

Yes, there is a Pick n Save and Fridays just west of here. Of all of the years I've been working here (just had my 5 year anniversary here), I have never gone to the Friday's there. I've been to almost every other restaurant around here (Noodle's, Pedro's, Cousin's, Chili's), but never Friday's.

Ask and you shall receive:

The Dave Matthews Band concert at Alpine Valley Music Theater Aug. 7 and 8 led to the arrest of 94 people who were cited for possession of marijuana.
There was one subject arrested on state charges of delivery of ecstasy and possession with intent to deliver ecstasy, according to a press release from the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit.
There also were 155 citations issued for underage possession/consumption of alcohol, three arrests for obstructing an officer and eight arrests for disorderly conduct. Several other citations for traffic violations and other offenses were issued.

he did look really young, and I guess the cops just came right up to him because they saw beer cans and asked him if he was 21. There was no way he could of gotten out of it, so he said that he wasn't. I felt bad for the kid. He wasn't acting obnoxious or anything from what I could tell. Oh well :(

Does anyone remember how many were issued for Phish? Just curious...

Here, I dug this up from my Phish post in June:

EAST TROY-- Police seized more than 1,900 grams of marijuana and other drugs at a Phish concert at Alpine Valley Music Theatre over the weekend.

A total of 246 people were cited. Seven people were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, two for delivery of marijuana, one for possession with intent to deliver psilocybin mushrooms, two for possession of cocaine, one for possession of marijuana, and one for possession of heroin, according to a Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit release.

The Drug Unit seized 1,977 grams of marijuana, 84 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 6 grams of cocaine, trace amounts of heroin, $2,500 in cash and two vehicles, according to the release.

Walworth County Sheriff's Department also cited 102 people for underage alcohol consumption, seven people for resisting/obstructing, one person for carrying a concealed weapon, and more.

I put my request in after the e-mail came in. I'll also try for the general sale since WH isn't letting us know until after the on-sale date.
Nevermind. They changed the on-sale dates to after the WH confirms.

Well said. Unfortunately, I'm not going since I don't want my hard-earned $$$ used for extremely negative advertising, which MoveOn and these 527 groups would use it for.

On the bright side, Brian, one of the points of this thing is to influence swing state voters, and with everyone flocking in from out of state (especially IL, a decidedly non-swing state) that purpose gets messed up a bit.

Hope everyone has a good time, though.

I will not be attending the Madison concert for the same reasons others have said:

1) It's a mid-week concert, which wouldn't be the worst, but....

2) I REFUSE to go to a concert where all of the money is going to organizations which I see as "wacky", including the Democratic National Party.

I'll just wait for a tape of the show and save my hard earned money for something else, like Popeye's Chicken.

Yes, I have to agree with you. Basically the DNP wants us to pay to go to a concert so we will vote their way. Last time I checked, it didn't quite work like that. And since DMB is all I want to see and it won't be a full set, I'll be sitting the Vote For Change tour out.

Ill be in Madison, haha getting all wasted and walking from my friends apartment to the Kohl Center, its like the concert god was smiling on me. Im going to attend UW-Madison, and see Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals and Dave Matthews Band, 2 of my favorite bands, all while supporting Kerry to get Bush's theocratic non-progressive, stem-cell hating ass out of office. Word. I dont like eithe candidates, but i want to work wiht stem cells, and Bush is a moron for not supporting federal funding for stem cell research, i hope he gets MS or something that couldve been cured by manipulating stem cells. wow the ranting and raving is done, my apologies.

:thumbsup Yes, the "poor" democratic party needs more money so they can outspend the "rich" republicians.

I'm not saying it might not be a good show, but to hell if I'm giving John Kerry and his $5 million wife a cent of the money I work hard to earn. Thankfully, I have more money than I did 4 years ago because the tax cuts allowed me to take home more of my pay check, and lets see what I did with the money the government allowed me to take home: I bought a car and a house, and I'm putting more money into the economy because I'm buying more things. Now my money doesn't go to the government to support such things as people who are too lazy to get jobs so they just have more kids from multiple fathers.

so anyway....after not being able to clamp onto that dudes stand at Alpine I decided to invest in a good taping rig:

AKG 480/ck61 caps (cards)>Zaolla cables and a 13 foot stand with a Sure Vert Mount and Audio Technica AT8410 shockmounts (all this courtesy of MT :thumbsup over a the tapers board)>warm/digi mode UA-5 (phantom power, pre-amp & A/D) courtesy of Oade Bros. (found a used one 1 hour after mine shipped for about $150 cheaper :BANG )>JB3 (and I picked up some ck63 caps (hypers) from Oade Bros. also).....so it looks like I will officially start taping shows....if the seats are right :)

16 months ago when I started taping my buddies band for fun I said I wouldn't go any further and tape DMB but as I was told--taping is an addicition

So sad. Had to go back and read it because I couldn't for the life of me remember what I wrote. Last week I sent Jamon a PM asking for his email address because I wanted to send him something. By the time I got his email three days later I had forgotten what it was I wanted to send him in the first place. Gotta lay off the extra curricular activities during the work week!

Hey Alpine threadily...OMIFRICKINGGOD!

I posted this earlier this morning in the Kohl Center/Madison show thread:

Cities 97, the local DMB-playing Clear Channel station is giving away tickets to the REM, Bruce, etc. show on 10/5, which I think is wierd because it means Clear Channel will be "donating" funds for the tix. They're also giving away a trip to SanFran for the GGP show but I'm never the correct # caller.
(Emphasis added.)

Guess what!?!? I WAS CALLER #7!!!!! :multi
So I've won 1) a "Budweiser True Music Party Pack" - whatever that means, and 2) a "Cities 97 New Names/New Music CD," and 3) I'M OFFICIALLY ELIGIBLE TO WIN THE TRIP TO SAN FRAN, the drawing for which will be held next week.
